Chapter 362: Chapter 226: Masters Like Clouds

After all...

A sect that received official government recognition was, in a way, state-sanctioned. No wonder the other sects were so afraid of Dragon Gate.

"Is Dragon Gate’s standing that high?"

Su Xing asked in confusion. ’Why have I never heard of this Dragon Gate back when I was in Cang City?’

"Er..."

The man from Liu City seemed slightly taken aback by Su Xing’s question. After glancing at Su Xing to make sure he wasn’t joking, he replied with a hint of resignation:

"Do you know how many Tier Eights Dragon Gate has?"

"I don’t know."

Su Xing shook his head.

He really didn’t know. All he knew was that Dragon Gate was ranked on par with the Cyan Cloud Sect because they both had Tier Eights. ’But the Cyan Cloud Sect only has Sect Leader Gu, so Dragon Gate shouldn’t have that many either.’

However, the other man’s answer was far beyond Su Xing’s expectations. He just glanced at Su Xing and said:

"Seven."

Seven Tier Eights. In one sect.

Su Xing instantly realized just how massive Dragon Gate was. ’If not for the ancient Tier Nine powerhouses who have recently awakened in Xia Country, Dragon Gate could probably rule unopposed.’

After all, a typical regional special organization had maybe one Tier Eight, but Dragon Gate could field seven. That was truly extraordinary.

And yet, for Dragon Gate to be mentioned in the same breath as the Cyan Cloud Sect despite possessing such strength... that was something Su Xing couldn’t quite wrap his head around. However, he didn’t ask any more about it, simply saying:

"So, which Tier Eight powerhouse did Dragon Gate send this time?"

Su Xing was much more composed about facing a Tier Eight than before. He knew how dominant he was against Tier Sevens and figured that would make dealing with a Tier Eight much easier.

Of the two Sequencers from Liu City, one named Ruo Jing seemed to know more. Hearing Su Xing’s question, he immediately answered:

"The person Dragon Gate sent this time is named Guan Yunfei. He’s one of the most renowned Tier Eights in Xia Country. It’s said his physical body has reached a state of divine indestructibility. He’s on another level of powerful."

"You’re quite well-informed."

Su Xing glanced at the two men, his gaze settling on Ruo Jing’s face as he spoke.

"I’m part of the organization, after all. It’s not hard to learn about these things."

Ruo Jing hurriedly explained.

"Since you’ve already gathered all this information, tell me about all the powerhouses who have come here. Of course, you can skip anyone who hasn’t reached Tier Eight."

It was true—Tier Seven powerhouses posed no threat to Su Xing at all. Even the strongest of them would only be a minor annoyance. Only a Tier Eight could make him feel a sense of danger.

After all, while Tier Eight was a single realm, the power disparities within it were enormous. For example, both Tong An and Li Longxuan were Tier Eights, but the difference in their strength was as vast as a chasm. Therefore, Su Xing wouldn’t lower his guard against any of them.

Though the words were spoken casually, the listeners took them to heart.

The faces of the two men from Liu City twitched. They were both below Tier Eight. They had originally thought that a Tier Seven was considered a powerhouse no matter where you went, but faced with such an unreasonably powerful being, there was nothing to be said.

’So young, yet so powerful. I can’t imagine what heights he’ll reach in the future.’ In truth, the two of them still hadn’t realized that the person before them was Su Xing. Although Su Xing was famous, it was only his name that was well-known.

It was hard to recognize him immediately without a moment to process.

Besides...

Su Xing was from Cang City.

Without inside information, it was indeed hard to guess why Su Xing would suddenly appear in Desperate Gorge, which was in Luocheng. It was no surprise they couldn’t guess his identity right away.

"..."

He wanted to say something in protest, but recalling Su Xing’s earlier display, he swallowed the words back down.

"Tier Eights aren’t a dime a dozen. As the recovery of Spiritual Qi continues, there will inevitably be more and more of them, but for now, they are still a tiny minority."

"However, a total of four Tier Eights have gathered here this time. Besides the man from the Dragon Gate Sect we just discussed, there’s also Li Ye, the ’Caged Bird,’ our branch director from Liu City, and the branch director from Luocheng."

In reality, this was a true gathering of titans. Though the rest hadn’t reached Tier Eight, there were countless Tier Seven powerhouses present. But since Su Xing hadn’t asked about them, Ruo Jing didn’t bring them up.

"The one from Luocheng is here too?"

Su Xing thought to himself. The man from Luocheng was a big part of the reason he’d come here in the first place. He hadn’t expected the man to come in person.

"How strange. What kind of treasure could be inside Desperate Gorge to make so many Tier Eights swallow their pride and come here in person?"

Su Xing asked, his curiosity piqued.

Although the man from Luocheng had told Su Xing there was a Spirit Flower in Desperate Gorge, he didn’t really have a clear idea of what a Spirit Flower was. After all, Su Xing had never encountered one, let alone a Spirit Flower that could attract so many Tier Eight powerhouses.

"Yes, it’s said to be a Spirit Flower capable of resurrecting the dead. For anyone, an item like that is a once-in-a-lifetime treasure you can only hope to stumble upon, not something you can actively seek out. It’s only natural that it would attract Tier Eight powerhouses to compete for it."

"Bring the dead back to life?"

Su Xing asked in amazement.

The dead cannot be resurrected. This was a worldly truth that any adult knew. Whether one was an Extraordinary Being or a mortal, death was certain once your lifespan ended or you suffered a fatal attack.

This was also the reason why Tier Eights normally didn’t fight one another. Yet now, this flower was about to shatter that truth.

"Can it really bring the dead back to life?"

Su Xing asked in astonishment. ’Every sect has its old ancestors. If it can really bring the dead back to life, couldn’t the Cyan Cloud Sect just resurrect the Cyan Cloud Sword Immortal? A Tier Nine powerhouse who mastered both martial and immortal paths... wouldn’t he be able to steamroll all the Extraordinary Beings of today?’

"Yes."

"However, its effect isn’t quite so overpowered."

Seeing Su Xing’s expression, Ruo Jing seemed to guess what he was thinking. He explained, "The flower is like a resurrection potion. You can revive someone as long as you feed them the flower within ten days of their death."

"But... there’s a small price."

"A price?" Su Xing asked.

"Mm. Although the flower can bring the dead back to life, it will dissolve all of your Extraordinary power. If you’re a Martial Artist or a Qi Cultivator, it’s not so bad. But if you’re a Sequencer, you’re ruined for life. After all, a Sequence isn’t something you can cultivate through practice."

"I see."

Su Xing nodded. His desire for the flower faded at those words. If it were a resurrection with no side effects, Su Xing would have fought with all his might to get his hands on it.

But with a side effect like that, Su Xing would still try to obtain it, but he wouldn’t consider keeping it for himself.

However, judging by how fiercely the Tier Eights were competing, even such a fatal side effect was not enough of a deterrent. Anyone who could cultivate to Tier Eight was an elder of considerable age.

This was especially true for those who had been sealed away since before the Spiritual Qi depleted. Their lives were ancient, and some were already on death’s door. In that case, they would naturally flock to this chance at resurrection.

In fact... of all the Extraordinary powers in the greater Liu City and Luocheng area, it seemed the only Tier Eight who hadn’t shown up was Gu Che, the Sect Leader of the currently embattled Cyan Cloud Sect.

What Su Xing found strange, however, was that these factions were already starting to fight over it. This would inevitably cause casualties on all sides, indirectly weakening Xia Country’s combat strength. Why didn’t the special organization have any measures in place to stop them?

Thinking of this, Su Xing asked, "Doesn’t the headquarters do anything to stop them?"
