Surviving the Infinite Survival Game by Exploiting Glitches
Chapter 197: Relocation of Shelter
Even after the system notification appeared in his mind, announcing that the shelter location had been destroyed, Song Xizheng’s expression barely changed.
He had already prepared himself for this. The moment he learned that Vivian intended to raze the entire amusement park to the ground, and the moment Song Zhenzhen and the other two told him they had been kicked out of their shelter, he had known it was coming.
What he hadn’t expected was the speed.
How long has it been? The shelter location he had only just registered with had already gone offline.
Song Xizheng let out a long sigh. "My sanctuary has been kicked out again."
Unfortunately, he had no time to mourn it.
Damn it, why are there so many tourists this time?
Hadn’t Vivian taken control of most of them? Then why were so many still pouring in? Was this even reasonable?
Night fell slowly, the darkness creeping through the corridors of the castle. By then, Song Xizheng and his companions had already dealt with three separate waves of tourists charging up at them. Every muscle in his body ached. He dropped to the floor and lay there, completely drained, not caring in the slightest about the dirt and grime covering the ground beneath him.
Fortunately, no new wave of tourists came rushing up this time, and they were finally given a moment to breathe.
Seeing how exhausted they were, the black monster quietly left and returned with some food. Since the first battle, it had only assisted from the sidelines, stepping in when needed and otherwise staying back. Even so, it had clearly been paying attention to the state of the group.
Song Xizheng and the others did not refuse the food. After all, the supplies they had brought with them were ordinary human food, and they were hungry enough that they couldn’t afford to be picky. The exhausted group wolfed it down in silence.0
Even while chewing, Song Xizheng didn’t forget to open his personal panel and send another message to Lin Yun.
"Sister Lin, how’s the progress? Your little brother is almost drained dry!"
He hesitated, then added, "There are only a few hours left until 10 o’clock. If this keeps up, I’ll have to run around looking for a place to stay in a shelter soon!"
The message sat there without a reply.
Song Xizheng sighed again. It seemed the mission still wasn’t complete.
"What’s wrong? Still no news from Yunyou?" Song Zhenzhen asked from beside him.
Song Xizheng shook his head. "He hasn’t come back down, but I know he’s still on the top floor."
George thought it over for a moment before speaking. "Then let’s find a place to settle down first. We don’t know how safe this castle really is, but following the rules is always the wiser choice."
"That’s what I was thinking too," Xiong Qi agreed. He had already pushed himself up from the floor and begun looking around for a suitable spot. "If we set up the shelter first and then keep guarding the area, we won’t be in such a rush when it’s almost time."
With the decision made, the group took advantage of the quiet downstairs and immediately began searching.0
After a moment of thought, the butler simply opened every door on the floor. Then he led them toward the top floor, where Lin Yun was.
"Wow, there are stairs leading up here! I thought this was the top floor," one of them exclaimed.
Several of them were visibly shocked. The truth was that they had never been inside a castle like this before, and it showed. They were, quite frankly, a little unsophisticated about it all.
In the end, they chose to set up their shelter in a room beside the stairs the butler had shown them. The room had several doors: one to a bathroom, one to a balcony, one to a wardrobe, and one to a bedroom. They simply picked one of them and installed the shelter there.
Once everything was settled, they returned to the corridor where the earlier fight had taken place and resumed their guard.
...
In the room on the top floor, Lin Yun’s hands had already gone slightly numb.
There were more and more locks behind her, and there were even keyholes hidden in the walls themselves.0
"System, be honest with me. Was this mission designed to cripple me?"
[How could that be! I would never think such a thing! There were simply too many locks, and I couldn’t do anything about it.]
The system’s tone was thoroughly obsequious.
Lin Yun sighed once more and set down the lock in her hand. She decided to settle her shelter first. At this rate, she would probably have to stay here for another night.
A thought crossed her mind. Should I be thanking Vivian?
After all, Vivian’s destruction of the Mushroom House had given her a chance to relocate her shelter. Otherwise, she would have had to figure out how to get all the way back to the parent-child interaction area later, and that place was quite far from here.
She made another mark on the lock she had just checked, then walked toward the door.
The moment she opened it, she was startled by the black monster standing right outside.
The black monster was just as startled by the door suddenly swinging open. For a moment, human and monster simply stared at each other. Then both of them realized what had happened, and they relaxed.0
The black monster fixed its gaze on Lin Yun, as if wondering why she had come out. It looked past her into the room, then back at her, as if asking, Why did you come out?
Lin Yun thought for a moment. "I haven’t found it yet. I just came out for some fresh air."
As she spoke, she stepped out. On this top floor, apart from the rooms that were all locked, there was only one other room that could be entered.
She pushed open its door and went inside. There was nothing but a bed, a bathroom, and a balcony.0
After a moment of thought, Lin Yun chose the bathroom as the location for her shelter.
Once she had successfully bound herself to it, she breathed a sigh of relief. She went inside to inspect the shelter, and only when she saw that nothing had changed did she finally feel at ease. She had been worried that the destruction of the Mushroom House might have affected her shelter in some way.
Now that she was sure everything was fine, a great weight lifted from her shoulders.
Lin Yun left the shelter and returned to the room filled with locks, resuming her search for the one that matched the key.
...
Inside the amusement park, Vivian looked at the outsiders lying in a pool of blood, and a satisfied smile spread across her face.
"Good. Now go and dig out all their hearts, and then we can go back to the castle."
Wenxi responded softly from the side and began controlling the puppets to carry out the task.
Many tourists were staring fixedly at the corpses on the ground. These people had only just died, so their flesh and blood were still fresh and delicious.0
Vivian glanced over at the tourists. These useless creatures were as annoying as ever.
"The amusement park’s facilities have been damaged, so we will be closing the park. Send the visitors out."
At her order, the three-colored vests began to move, trying to drive the tourists toward the entrance of the amusement park.
But faced with fresh flesh and blood, some of the tourists were reluctant to leave. They wanted to eat.
"Tsk."
Vivian’s voice turned sharp. "Get out of here, now. We’ll throw these corpses outside for you to eat in a while. For now, hurry up and leave. Don’t make me say it a second time."
Although the tourists were still unwilling, they feared Vivian too much to defy her. They could only drag their feet toward the entrance.
But at that very moment, several figures suddenly sprang up from among the three-colored vests.0
Wenxi had somehow slipped behind Vivian. A dagger gleamed in her hand, and she thrust it straight at Vivian.
Sensing that something was wrong, Vivian dodged quickly to the side and just barely avoided the strike.
"Wenxi!"
Wenxi ignored her and kept swinging the dagger.
Before Vivian could react, the blade slashed through the chain of the whistle at her waist, and the whistle fell to the ground. The jade whistle struck the earth and shattered into pieces in an instant.
"Wenxi! How dare you betray me!" Vivian was furious. She had never imagined that Wenxi, who had always been so timid, would find the courage to turn on her.
In truth, Wenxi was feeling deeply uneasy. But the sight of the whistle breaking filled her with tremendous encouragement.
She could do it.0
