Chapter 389: Chapter 388: It Was Slow

In an instant, the world before Seraphina Sinclair lost all color, leaving only the supreme agony of her heart bursting.

Something intrinsically linked to her life force was being greedily devoured by the Bone Nail, turning into fuel to ignite another, more violent and searing power.

Seraphina Sinclair forced a hoarse scream from her throat. Before she could even process it, a mass of dark red light, like burning blood, erupted from where the nail had been driven into her chest!

The light spread over her entire body in an instant, like living vines.

Across the surface of her once-fair skin, grayish-white patterns spread madly, slowly bulging as if something were squirming beneath them, intertwining with the dark red glow.

If there were a mirror, Seraphina Sinclair would see her eyes: the whites rapidly consumed by a murky gray, her pupils shrinking into two points of violently throbbing, muddy red light.

A tyrannical power, like a river bursting its banks, washed away the weakness from Seraphina Sinclair’s injuries and forcibly flooded every corner of her body!

Grace had descended.

The price was her rapidly draining life force and the ultimate agony of having her heart pierced by a foreign object.

Several notification panels popped up before Seraphina Sinclair. Her gaze briefly caught the Description of an item with an S-Class suffix, but she obviously had no time to examine what it was.

The Wind Blades arrived the instant Grace descended.

Seraphina Sinclair didn’t hesitate for a second. She could feel that her body’s Attributes had more than doubled in power. ’The Wind Blades that would have been fatal to my former self are now no different from a tickle!’

She didn’t even bother to dodge. After using the Stone Skin Scroll, she simply raised her left arm, which was now covered in grayish-white patterns, and casually swatted.

"CLANG! CLANG CLANG!"

Several Wind Blades, strong enough to slice through rock, struck her arm, producing the dull thud of clashing metal. They left only a few shallow white marks before dissipating.

In the Storm Dragon’s Dark Gold vertical pupils, vigilance instantly turned to bewildered suspicion, followed by an even deeper fury.

From the chaotic, violent aura emanating from the tiny human, it smelled something it found utterly repulsive—something that even inspired a faint sense of dread.

It finally felt threatened by the human before it.

’If I don’t kill her now...’

The Storm Dragon didn’t dare to let the thought finish.

’I have to crush this bug now! Right now!’

The Storm Dragon held nothing back. Suppressing the pain from the Wind Blade backlash deep in its throat, it forcibly mobilized nearly all the Wind Element in its core.

Countless streams of pale cyan and silver-white air ceased their gentle flow, instead transforming into massive Wind Blade tornadoes that tore through space, converging from all directions to shred the figure enveloped in dark red and grayish-white light!

This single attack would have been enough to utterly annihilate the previous Seraphina Sinclair and everything around her.

Yet, faced with such a threat, Seraphina Sinclair felt no desire to dodge.

Supported by that violent power, her fatal injuries seemed to be blocked off. She couldn’t feel any pain, only a destructive impulse to tear everything apart.

The human instinct for self-preservation seemed to have been suppressed as well. Seraphina Sinclair didn’t look at the terrifying Wind Blades converging on her. Her gaze was locked onto the black Short Spear in the Storm Dragon’s chest and the fragile flesh next to it, which the dragon itself had just torn open.

The second before the Wind Blades struck, Seraphina Sinclair kicked off!

BOOM!

The stone ground she pushed off from exploded, and spiderweb cracks spread madly outward.

Her figure became an afterimage trailing a dark red streak, her Speed so fast the eye could barely follow. With almost brutish force, she charged straight at the Storm Dragon, right into the densest of the Wind Blade tornadoes.

SCREEECH—

The Wind Blades ground against the grayish-white patterns and stone-like skin covering her body, producing a noise that set one’s teeth on edge.

But this was the power of an S-Class creature. Even with the enhancements from "Grace" and the scroll, some attacks still got through her defenses.

An exceptionally condensed, silvery-white Wind Blade pierced her defenses, carving a gash on her left shoulder blade so deep the bone was visible. Another sliced across her waist, kicking up a great spray of blood.

Seraphina Sinclair’s body swayed slightly, but the Speed of her charge didn’t diminish in the slightest.

She couldn’t feel the pain, but the flowing blood made the grayish-white patterns grow even more wildly, and the muddy red light in her eyes burned even brighter.

The Storm Dragon let out a roar of shocked fury, clearly not expecting her to be able to withstand its all-out attack.

It raised its massive claw again, bringing it down on the charging figure with irresistible force and a howling gale, trying to swat her away as it had before.

But this time, its movements were far too slow for Seraphina Sinclair.

Just as the claw was about to connect, Seraphina Sinclair’s charging figure abruptly changed direction at an unbelievable angle. She dropped her shoulder and slid, almost scraping against the ground.

The claw swept over her head with a dull whoosh, the sharp wind from its passage stinging her cheeks and severing a few strands of her hair.

And she had slid right into the opening beneath the Storm Dragon’s chest and abdomen, exposed when it raised its claw to strike!

From this angle, she had a clear view of the black Short Spear and the pulsating Dragonkin flesh beneath the cracked scales beside it.

Seraphina Sinclair didn’t hesitate. Even before her slide had come to a stop, her right hand, gripping her blade, was already charged with maximum power.

The azure glow of the Water Dragon Roar Blade was now faintly covered by a layer of dark red light. It let out a low thrum, as if in both excitement and pain.

She poured all the violent power brought by Grace, along with the heart-searing killing intent and agony in her chest, into this one strike.

"DIE!!!"

A raw, broken roar erupted from her throat.

The gleam of her blade was no longer pure azure.

Three Light Blades, wreathed in grayish-white, slashed upward, as if to defy the heavens!

The target was precisely the Storm Dragon’s old wound—the cracked scales, the pulsating flesh.

The Storm Dragon finally felt a mortal terror.

It wanted to twist its massive body to dodge, but it was too late.

Besides, reacting took time. Its thoughts were in turmoil, and unlike Seraphina Sinclair, it could feel pain, dooming it to be unable to truly ignore its influence.

It was too slow.

Far too slow.

It should have died many years ago when that Short Spear first struck it.

The Storm Dragon had been tormented by the wound on its body for too long. Coupled with the tearing pain, it could only rely on its combat instincts to quickly bring its forelimbs together.

But as for the purpose of bringing them together, even the Storm Dragon itself wasn’t quite sure anymore.

To block Seraphina Sinclair?

But the human had already charged past its forelimbs.

To defend its old wound?

It was too late.
