Chapter 17: 17 - The Isolated House

While King was having a headache trying to figure out where to start looking for Iris’s house, Adrian appeared like a savior. He pointed at a mountain and said.

"Cross that mountain, and if you look around carefully, you’ll see her house. Her house is indeed pretty big for one person, but it’s not some luxurious castle or anything. The important thing is that it’s quite isolated, so it’s not hard to find."

"Why didn’t you come pick me up in the first place and let Iris go instead? If I had met you first, I wouldn’t have had to put up with her..."

The better Adrian performed, the more King compared him to Iris. It’s just that halfway through speaking, he hesitated a little because it wasn’t all bad. That soft feeling in his palm, he still hadn’t forgotten it even now.

King’s hesitation made the corner of Adrian’s mouth curl up slightly. When a young man reacted strangely like this, what else could it be besides that?

For the past ten years, Iris had worked hard and risked her life just as much as anyone else. Because she worked so hard, she didn’t even have time for romance.

But honestly speaking, Adrian felt that even if she had plenty of time, she probably wouldn’t be able to fall in love. Could a normal person endure her arrogant personality combined with her invincible strength?

Even if they could endure it, it would still be very difficult to earn Iris’s recognition. King was the first case Adrian had seen where Iris was interested in a newly cultivating cultivator.

Although the relationship between the two of them was like fire and water right now, Adrian felt that sooner or later, they would definitely become a couple.

The strongest person of the future and the strongest person of the present. Weren’t they a perfect match?

"Isn’t it better for young people to meet young people? Meeting an old man like me would be boring as hell. Go on. If you keep hesitating, Iris might get angry and come here."

Adrian gently pushed King on the shoulder, urging him to pursue his ’future’. There was no point in staying here any longer.

"Hmph, let her get angry if she wants. If I’m afraid of her, then I’m her son. By the way, how do I get down from here? A building this tall must have an elevator, right?"

King’s next sentence kicked away his previous one. His mouth said he wasn’t afraid of her getting angry, but he immediately started looking for a way down.

"Back when we didn’t know how to fly yet, there was indeed an elevator, but now that everyone can fly so easily, that passage was sealed up a long time ago. Just jump down from here without worry. Even if you accidentally break a few tiles, it won’t matter."

Now, only fourteen people could come and go freely in this palace. This wasn’t a place for entertaining guests, so apart from them, only the people who built this palace and the maintenance staff came here periodically or whenever there was a problem.

Since it was built, King was the only special case who had been ’invited’ here with a status that could be considered a guest.

"Alright. Then I’m jumping."

King nodded, then ran straight to the edge of the skyscraper and jumped down. Jumping while carrying a ’rusty metal bar’ was indeed a terrible idea, but King was strong enough to do it comfortably.

At first, King was still a little hesitant because he knew he would definitely break the tiles. Whether he broke a little or a lot, he would definitely be forced to pay for the damages.

Logically, King could afford any compensation now because he had Adrian’s black card, but psychologically, he didn’t want to.

Just thinking about converting the money he had to spend on compensation into the number of novel Chapters he could unlock already made him feel terrible.

The moment King landed on the ground, his footprints immediately sank deep into it. Because it was tile instead of dirt, a small area was shattered completely.

King was heading toward the mountain, so there weren’t many people around, but everyone stared at him with wide eyes. It wasn’t because he was too strong, but because he had fallen from such a special place.

"Are these tiles really this hard? I thought they would break a lot, but it seems I underestimated this place."

King’s eyes paid no attention to the people around him and instead looked down at his feet. After making a simple assessment, he immediately ran straight toward the mountain.

The speed of a rank III, 6-star cultivator was incredibly fast, making King look like a plane that could run as he sped past everyone.

"Who is that guy?"

"No idea. He looks unfamiliar. He must be someone new."

"Something’s not right. At this speed, he’s at least reached rank III. Why isn’t he flying and instead running?"

"How would I know? Maybe it’s a hobby?"

...

King wasn’t invisible, so obviously, many people could see the strange things about him. There were plenty of cultivators with weird personalities, so they only assumed King was a strong but eccentric person who had been invited to work at the academy.

As for King, he just kept running without caring about what they were saying. From his experience, these people were definitely background characters, ones who didn’t even have names, so they weren’t worth his attention.

Even though his speed was incredibly fast, it still took King nearly ten minutes to reach the top of the mountain. At first, he couldn’t clearly picture his destination, so his route was a little messy, and he even got lost along the way, making things a little confusing.

Standing on the mountaintop covered in rocks and white snow, King looked down and saw clouds, and only farther away could he see houses.

This magnificent natural scenery left King stunned for a moment, but he didn’t have time to admire the view now.

"Are you kidding me? What’s there even to look for?"

Looking down the mountain, perhaps at least five kilometers away, the first house finally appeared. Looking farther, he could see more houses, but there weren’t many of them, scattered here and there.

Among them all, one house stood out visually. The distance between it and the nearest neighbor was immense. It was an isolated estate, yet a wide, beautiful two-lane road led straight to it. Anyone could tell that the owner possessed an exceptionally high status.
