This was despite Yu Zhiming repeatedly stating that Saturday was purely for a family gathering, and that he wouldn’t be inviting any outsiders or accepting any invitations himself.

But on that day, some people still showed up at his door, sincerely and earnestly bearing gifts.

This secretly delighted Yu Zhiming.

’So I am this popular. My people skills are better than I thought.’

"Fifth Brother, that you’re so popular is just your imagination."

Yu Xiangwan chuckled over the phone. "The only reason they’re showing such genuine affection is because you’re useful and have a boundless future. They just think they might need you to pull some strings for them later on."

His sister’s dose of cruel reality didn’t seem to faze Yu Zhiming in the slightest. He replied lazily, "His injuries were all superficial. He was discharged after resting for two days."

"As for the woman, her husband is insisting on a divorce."

"Li Ao’s parents said that if the woman is willing to have the baby, and if it’s Li Ao’s, they’re willing to raise it."

"But, under no circumstances will they let Li Ao marry her."

"Not unless Li Ao disowns them as his parents and cuts off all ties."

Just then, Yu Zhiming heard some rustling sounds through the phone.

Even though it wasn’t a video call, the noise painted a vivid picture in his mind.

His Fourth Sister had just lazily rolled over, sprawling out comfortably on the bed like a starfish.

"Tired today, Sis?"

"You have no idea."

"To get ready for your arrival tomorrow, I cleaned the entire apartment by myself and unpacked everything that was delivered the other day."

"Especially your professional textbooks, Fifth Brother. They’re unbelievably heavy! I nearly broke my back."

Yu Zhiming chuckled. "Thanks for all your hard work, Fourth Sister."

After that touch of melodrama, Yu Xiangwan changed the subject. "Fifth Brother, about Xiaoxue’s tuition fees, did Second Sister or Third Sister say anything to you today?"

Yu Zhiming recounted everything. "Not really. They just made some catty remarks about how Eldest Sister’s doting on me when I was little wasn’t in vain."

Yu Xiangwan drew out a long "Ohhh" over the phone. "I figured as much. Even if they have a problem with it, they’ll just keep it to themselves."

"After all, you’re in your ’harvest’ season now. They’re not stupid enough to risk upsetting you."

Yu Zhiming laughed. "Fourth Sister, they’re my own sisters, we grew up together. Don’t make it sound so transactional and crude."

"From when we were kids all the way through college and buying my apartment, Eldest, Second, and Third Sister all contributed a lot of money and effort."

After a moment’s pause, she asked curiously, "Fifth Brother, did they ever find out who was poisoning dogs in your complex?"

Yu Zhiming replied quietly, "They made a half-hearted effort to investigate for a day or two, but there’s been no news since. I guess they just dropped it. After all, they were just dogs, not people."

"But at least now, almost everyone walking their dogs in the complex uses a leash."

Yu Xiangwan snorted over the phone. "Some people only learn their lesson the hard way."

She then changed the subject, boasting, "Fifth Brother, let me tell you, the soundproofing in the bedroom here is just as good as back home."

"Last night in Binhai, there was a huge thunderstorm—wind, rain, lightning, the whole works. It was really scary, but I slept right through it in here without hearing a thing."

After patting herself on the back, Yu Xiangwan’s tone turned serious. "Fifth Brother, coming to work at Huashan Hospital, you’ll need to do more than just stay in top form for your job."

Yu Xiangwan said seriously over the phone, "Dr. Qi’s medical team gained you, but lost two others."

"And Dr. Qi announced that he’s getting old and doesn’t have the energy for it, so he won’t be taking on any more young doctors in the future."

"That really angered the other young doctors who wanted that spot. They’re all pointing their fingers at you now."

"Deputy Chief Physician Han Shuo, fifty-two, a surgeon. He’s mainly in charge of the less complicated surgeries for the center’s patients, along with some trauma examinations."

"He’s basically just coasting until retirement at the medical center."

"The two attending physicians are both internists. There’s Wang Zhijin, thirty-two, who specializes in gastroenterology."

"And Wang Zejia, thirty, who specializes in neurology."

Yu Xiangwan added with emphasis, "Fifth Brother, those two young attending physicians have powerful backgrounds. They’re second-generation doctors; their fathers are both heavyweights in the medical field."

"Besides them, the medical center also has a rotating number of visiting doctors, residents, interns, and nurses."

Yu Zhiming said, "Oh," and listened as his sister continued, "She’s a girl who’s only been working for two or three years."

"Her name is Zhou Mo."

"She has a great personality, very patient, and a really lovely voice. Most importantly, not only is she beautiful, but she has a figure that even I’m dying of envy over."
