Superior Physician
Chapter 33: Immense Sincerity
Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Immense Sincerity
Yu Zhiming had dinner with Teacher Qi and his three friends.
During the meal, something happened that concerned Yu Zhiming.
As dinner was about to end, an employee from a car company called Qi Yue.
After hanging up, Qi Yue explained that a Cayenne EV had spontaneously combusted that evening.
The company representative had called to inform him about it and advised him not to believe or spread any rumors.
The representative also said the company would send technical experts to cooperate fully with the relevant authorities in their investigation and would promptly inform all owners of the results.
This made Yu Zhiming wonder, ’Could it be that Cayenne EV from this afternoon, the one making that strange, crackling electrical sound?’
He searched on his phone. News reports said the accident happened on the Yangtze River Expressway.
There was also a short, blurry online video of a car engulfed in flames.
Yu Zhiming couldn’t tell if it was the same car.
Fortunately, there were no reported casualties...
Yu Zhiming returned to the hotel around 10 p.m. and went straight to his sister and Xiaoxue’s room.
The two of them were in their pajamas, looking terrifying with black face masks on.
"Uncle, today we visited Binhai University, took a cruise on the Pujiang River, and went to the zoo!"
"Uncle, we even saw giant pandas."
"Here, look..."
Yu Zhiming took Fu Xiaoxue’s phone and casually swiped through the many photos.
"Fifth Brother, there’s something I want to discuss with you..."
Yu Xiangwan, who was sitting cross-legged on the bed, patted the space beside her. She waited for her brother to sit down before she spoke again.
"Sister Wenzhu said that the Sino-British finance program at Jiaoda is starting its student interviews next week."
"These interviews are mainly for college applicants with connections to the finance world, so the acceptance rate is pretty high."
"Sister Wenzhu said that if we’re interested, she can help arrange an interview."
Yu Zhiming looked at Fu Xiaoxue.
Fu Xiaoxue said hesitantly, "The tuition alone is one hundred and sixty thousand a year. That’s so expensive!"
"There’s no need to arrange it, right?"
Yu Zhiming could tell the girl was being disingenuous; deep down, she was full of longing and hope.
He said cheerfully, "It’s only a hundred and sixty thousand. Things are different for your uncle now; I can easily afford it."
"Let’s go ahead and ask Sister Wenzhu to set it up."
Fu Xiaoxue squealed and ran over, throwing her arms around Yu Zhiming’s shoulders. She shook him gently and exclaimed, "Uncle, you’re the best! I’ll love you forever!"
"I’ll consider the money a loan."
"Once I graduate and make it big in finance, I’ll pay you back millions, haha..."
Yu Zhiming rolled his eyes. "Millions? I won’t hold my breath."
"Besides, I might not even get the chance to spend that one hundred and sixty thousand on tuition."
"Xiaoxue, I don’t think your chances of passing the interview are very high. Just treat it as a learning experience."
Fu Xiaoxue’s face tensed, and she put her hands on her hips.
"Uncle, don’t you underestimate me! Your niece, Fu Xiaoxue, is every bit as good as anyone else!"
"You just wait for me to tell you I passed the interview."
Yu Xiangwan chuckled, then said, "Fifth Brother, in that case, Xiaoxue and I won’t be going home with you the day after tomorrow."
"I’ll stay here to help Xiaoxue prepare for her interview, and I’ll also look for an apartment to rent."
"Fifth Brother, what do you think?"
Yu Zhiming nodded. "That’s a good plan. I’ll transfer you some more money later."
He added, "Sis, sign a long-term lease. You’ll definitely need to do some renovations first."
"Binhai is way too noisy compared to back home."
Seeing the dark circles under her brother’s eyes that still hadn’t faded, Yu Xiangwan said with concern, "I’ll try to find a place and get it renovated as soon as possible."
"Hopefully, it’ll be ready for you to move in by the time you start your job in Binhai."
Just then, Fu Xiaoxue’s hand deftly pulled a portable hard drive from Yu Zhiming’s pocket.
"Uncle, what’s this?"
"It’s a gift from that actress I mentioned last night. It has a complete collection of her work on it."
Fu Xiaoxue immediately grew excited, asking eagerly, "Uncle, who is she? Is she pretty?"
"This writing on it is a signature, right? I can’t read it!"
"Jiang Xiyan," Yu Zhiming replied listlessly.
Yu Xiangwan suddenly let out a cry and shot up from the bed.
"I know her! I’ve even seen her TV shows. Not only is she gorgeous, but her figure is absolutely smoking hot."
"Fifth Brother, Fifth Brother, you have to seize this opportunity!"
Yu Zhiming thought of that curly strand of hair again and said dismissively, "Some people in the entertainment industry are too messy."
"I prefer a more normal, simple kind of girl."
Yu Xiangwan could tell there was a story behind her brother’s words. She reached out and wrapped an arm around his neck.
"Fifth Brother, what did you find out?"
"Spill the beans, or I’ll have to torture it out of you!"
Yu Zhiming turned and saw the fire of gossip burning in her eyes.
Catching her off guard, he slipped out of her hold.
"Sis, she’s a patient and I’m her doctor. I absolutely cannot disclose certain things."
"Otherwise, I’d face serious consequences."
"I’m going back to my room to rest..."
Yu Zhiming hurried back to his room, took a hot shower, and was just about to rest when he suddenly heard a knock at the door.
He focused, trying to identify the person.
He sensed that the person knocking was a complete stranger, a man with a suitcase.
Yu Zhiming opened the door.
A man was indeed standing outside the door.
’I don’t know him!’
He was about the same height as Yu Zhiming and looked to be in his early forties. He had a refined, slicked-back hairstyle, a diamond-shaped face, sharp eyebrows, piercing eyes, and a high-bridged nose, giving him a considerable mature charm.
While not in a formal suit, he was dressed in stylish, well-tailored, dark-colored smart casual attire.
At a glance, Yu Zhiming guessed it was high-end apparel from a brand he didn’t recognize.
"Hello, Dr. Yu."
The man offered a business card and introduced himself, "I am Gu Qingran, the vice dean of Binhai Ning’an Hospital."
"I know it’s incredibly presumptuous to visit so late. Please forgive me for disturbing your rest, Dr. Yu."
"Ning’an Hospital... Dean Gu, please come in!"
Yu Zhiming took the finely crafted business card, glanced at the text, and ushered the handsome older man into the room.
They both sat down at the small coffee table.
Yu Zhiming got straight to the point. "Dean Gu, we’ve never met before, have we?"
"Did you come here because you have a patient who needs me to perform an examination?"
Gu Qingran sized up Yu Zhiming and replied with a faint smile, "Dr. Yu, to be honest, I only learned of your existence a few days ago."
"It was only just before dinner today that I saw your detailed file."
After a brief pause, Gu Qingran changed the subject. "Dr. Yu, are you aware that Binhai has what are commonly known as the ’Big Four’ hospitals?"
Yu Zhiming nodded. "Binhai University First Affiliated Hospital, Binhai Jiaotong University First Affiliated Hospital, Binhai First People’s Hospital, and Huashan Hospital."
Gu Qingran let out a soft breath. "Those four hospitals have long histories and powerful medical resources. Their overall capabilities certainly place them at the forefront of all hospitals in Binhai."
"However, Dr. Yu, their strength doesn’t mean they have a lock on the top four spots in Binhai."
"Binhai has a total of forty-eight Class III Grade A hospitals, and the overall capabilities of at least four or five of them are on par with the Big Four."
Gu Qingran said proudly, "And our Ning’an Hospital is one of them."
He elaborated, "It’s just that Ning’an Hospital is a corporate hospital, and we’ve been established for less than twenty years, so our reputation and public recognition in Binhai can’t compare to the Big Four."
"But when it comes to overall capabilities, Ning’an is absolutely not inferior to any of the Big Four."
Gu Qingran looked at Yu Zhiming, his gaze intense.
"Dr. Yu, I have come here today on behalf of Ning’an Hospital to extend an invitation for you to join us—an invitation that comes with the utmost sincerity..."
As he spoke, Gu Qingran lifted the heavy suitcase onto the coffee table and opened it.
Yu Zhiming’s eyes went wide.
It was full of Chairman Maos—a suitcase overflowing with the universally loved, beautiful red banknotes.
"Dr. Yu, this is two million. And it’s only a part of our sincere offer..."
