Super Soldier in the City

Chapter 2762 - 2824: The Fault Lies with the Father When the Son Is Not Taught

  • Next Chapter

After hearing the other party’s explanation, Li Yifei suddenly laughed from anger. There’s that saying "if a son is not taught, it’s the father’s fault," but really, like father, like son. His son could do that kind of beastly shit—you only have to look at his old man to know why. What the hell kind of logic is this? You court disaster yourself, commit an evil deed, ruin your own future, and instead of your family reflecting, instead of asking why, you dump the blame onto the victims. What kind of bullshit logic is this? Do these people even have brains?

Li Yifei held back the impulse to kick this old man to death, feeling utterly disgusted, like he was looking at maggots in a toilet. Maybe some people would think the old man is pitiful—he raised his son to adulthood, pinned his hopes on him, hoped the boy would have a good future, bring honor to the family, climb higher and higher, only for everything to be destroyed by this incident.

But the problem is, is this Su Lio and Chu Xiaoyao’s fault? Is it the girls’ fault? The bad guy did bad things and got punished, so people go after the victims, go after the ones who stood up and exposed the bastard? What the hell kind of logic is that?

This old man is a scumbag too, another evil bastard, that’s exactly why he could raise such a beast of a son! Li Yifei kept forcing his anger down.

He paced a few steps on the spot, then let out a cold smile. "Fine, I get it. Old man, I’m not gonna curse you out and I’m not gonna hit you. I’m just telling you: you and your son are finished, your whole family is finished. With a father like you, no wonder you’ve got an animal for a son. I don’t care how miserable your family is, I just want to see what kind of punishment you and your son are going to face."

After that, Li Yifei didn’t even bother with the old man. Instead he said to the few cops, "You guys can’t handle this, and you don’t need to. Just make sure you keep him under watch. I want him to see with his own eyes what kind of punishment that animal of a son is going to get. And from now on, I expect you to guard him. Whether he gets hurt or dies, it’s on you!",

"Ah, okay!" The few cops froze for a second, then hurriedly nodded.

Li Yifei walked out, still unable to hold back a curse—"animal." To Chu Xiaoyao, this was a disaster out of nowhere; rack her brains as she might, she’d never imagine someone would come to kill over something like this. Oh, your son did animal shit, destroyed himself, so you come to stab the whistleblowers instead of reflecting on your own parenting, instead of reflecting on your son’s crimes. Are you a parent or just another old animal?

With this matter, he really did have to follow through. Li Yifei pulled out his phone, scrolled through the numbers, and realized there were too many saved and he’d forgotten who he should call. So he simply dialed the private number of "Number One" in the province, which he’d kept from before.

Right before dialing, Li Yifei paused. To him this was a huge deal, but to Number One, it was small fry, at most infuriating and disgusting. So in the end Li Yifei didn’t make that call. A few minutes later, he got in touch with a Deputy Director at the Provincial Department, reported his identity. The other side heard it was Li Yifei and was just as pissed off. The two didn’t know each other personally, but the Deputy Director had a very good relationship with the Ye family, so when he realized why Li Yifei was calling, after the initial shock he quickly agreed. This kind of thing is beyond imagination, but it had really happened.

The grad student and his family background were quickly investigated. The grad student’s father is a taxi driver; to support a kid through grad school isn’t easy for him, sure, but that’s not some license to commit crimes. Being weak doesn’t mean you’re automatically in the right. And on top of that, this guy is a repeat offender who’s done several stints in prison. Then it’s not hard to imagine why he’s so extreme. How is someone like that remotely worthy of pity?

The police launched operations and quickly brought him in for another interrogation. By evening, new findings came out: the reason the grad student’s father knew it was Su Lio and Chu Xiaoyao who exposed his son was because of a department director in Biology. That director and the father were classmates. With his kid in such huge trouble, this bastard didn’t think about getting the kid to admit his wrongs and reflect, didn’t think of apologizing to the victims, but ran around looking for people to "smooth things over," dreaming of how to suppress the incident. Even if it cost money, even if he had to sell his house and spend hundreds of thousands, that was fine, as long as the kid could keep doing his grad program and, ideally, go on to a PhD.

The director was the one he begged. But as a director, and when the incident didn’t even happen in the Biology department, what could he realistically do? He ate, he drank, he accepted gifts, and in the end, when he couldn’t stall anymore, he gave up the names. His idea was for the father to go beg the parties involved: since the girls were the ones who discovered it, if he could smooth things over with them, that’d be great. For example, have them change their testimony; then the school would have room to maneuver. Otherwise, if their testimony stayed the same, there’d be no way to turn this around. As for the evidence the police had dug up, that was the police’s business, but the school’s stance also mattered.

This was complete crap advice. Never mind whether the two girls would change their testimony—even if they did, it still wouldn’t make the matter go away. The case was already filed, and it was under nationwide investigation, with the Public Security Ministry taking the lead and Special Investigation Teams set up in most provinces and cities all over the country. You think it’s something that can just be changed on a whim? Especially when he was the very source of the incident breaking out.

Of course, if it hadn’t been Su Lio and Chu Xiaoyao, the outcome might have been entirely different—at the very least it wouldn’t be this serious. From the school to the police, they’re now working hand in glove to thoroughly investigate. Maybe if he’d run the right connections, the whole thing could’ve been buried. Anyway, once you graduate, who knows who anymore? At worst, finish the master’s, then apply for a PhD at another school.

It was precisely because Su Mengxin had pushed hard that the Public Security Ministry could set up an investigation team for nationwide supervision, to fully uncover this vicious case across the whole country. This is not something ordinary people can pull off—it’s just too hard.

Exactly because of this multi-layered effort, the case of the grad student secretly filming in the women’s restroom was handled with lightning speed and strict procedures, hoping to warn ordinary people. No matter male or female, when you encounter this kind of criminal, you have to take action to catch them; the law will punish them severely.

So the situation was never going to change. After banging his head against the wall everywhere during this period, the grad student’s father grew more and more hateful toward Su Lio and Chu Xiaoyao. He got hold of their photos, which, unbelievably, the director had accessed by abusing his authority, logging into the internal network and then just handing them over to the father. Maybe when he gave them, he was thinking the guy could go find the two girls, but probably even he didn’t imagine that the father would go buy two knives, hone them razor-sharp, and get ready to give each woman one knife—stab them both to death.

By this point the father already understood that his son couldn’t be saved. He was done, completely done, and probably facing a heavy sentence. A few decades ago, this would’ve been the most serious "hooliganism" charge—enough to get shot dozens of times.

So he came to hate the two girls to the extreme. After buying the knives, he kept staking out the area, even sleeping downstairs at night. When he saw the two of them coming back once, he wanted to act, but the girls were together and there were people around, so the opportunity was bad, and he didn’t move. When he saw their sports car, he wanted to scratch it up, but there were surveillance cameras there, so that was also out—otherwise he wouldn’t even get his "revenge" before he got arrested.

So this bastard patiently waited for his chance, though he was already losing patience. Today, seeing Chu Xiaoyao come downstairs alone with few people around, he went straight over. Just as they were about to brush past each other, he pulled out the sharp dagger and stabbed.

Everything after that is already known. The bastard confessed clearly. Li Yifei looked fierce, and the other guy felt like crying his heart out. What the hell is all this? How unlucky am I to be this principal? Every big thing that happens always ends up connected to the Li family. Why? The bastard probably couldn’t figure it out either. When he saw Li Yifei looking his way, he quickly said, "I’ll have someone go and arrest that director right away. Whoever it is, we’ll punish them severely!"

"Mm."

"Please... Mr. Li rest assured, we..."

"Your school is such a mess that as principal you can’t escape blame. I hope there won’t be a next time—otherwise you can stop being principal altogether!" Li Yifei cut him off bluntly.

The man wiped his face, but inside he felt a bit relieved. At least for now, he was safe.

Not long after, that director was brought in, and when he learned what was going on, he started screaming that he was being framed.

"Framed? I don’t buy it. Heh. Today you got lucky, so he didn’t succeed. But what if we hadn’t been so lucky? Wouldn’t that make you an accomplice to murder? If it weren’t for you, would he have gotten the photos? Would he have known who caught that pervert? And now you talk to me about being framed? Then who the hell am I supposed to go after? Heh, you’re ’framed’? You think you fucking deserve to cry ’framed’?" The moment Li Yifei saw his ugly face, his anger flared up again. After holding it in for so long, he finally couldn’t and sent a kick flying.

He’d already known what had happened. And now that the director was here, not only did he refuse to admit his wrongs, he was frantically trying to exonerate himself. Who do you think you are? You screw up and still want to weasel out? Fuck. Usually, anyone who dares to come after his woman, no matter who it is, Li Yifei would kill them to eliminate future trouble.

Everyone nearby watched with their noses twitching, but nobody dared to step in. They all knew that right now, Li Yifei was in a rage—whoever provoked him would be the unlucky one.

"In this matter, your esteemed school had better give me an explanation. That kind of person can actually get into grad school? Your admission standards are a joke." Li Yifei’s words here were actually a bit unreasonable—no matter how strict a graduate admissions process is, it’s impossible to know whether someone is a pervert. Even if you sent them to a psychologist, they wouldn’t necessarily catch it.

But at this moment, no one dared argue with Li Yifei. Even the principal was fawning and smiling, not daring to say anything—what could anyone else possibly say? They could only hold it in. Who told their school to produce such a garbage student, to have such a garbage incident? It was a complete disgrace. Just look at the comments online about this news; people from the school can hardly lift their heads, that’s how bad the impact is.
