Super Soldier in the City

Chapter 2761 - 2823: Assassinating Chu Xiaoyao

  • Next Chapter

This was the situation before, and just as Li Yifei was about to return to Mile City, he received a call from Su Lio saying that Chu Xiaoyao was attacked while going downstairs to buy some fruit! Hearing this, Li Yifei’s head buzzed. Su Lio used the word ’attacked,’ which indicated a serious matter. Li Yifei almost immediately turned the car around and headed towards the school. Chu Xiaoyao was slashed with a knife, but fortunately, she had learned some combat moves. Although she wasn’t very strong, neither was the attacker, and his nervousness affected his accuracy.

At the moment of the attack, Chu Xiaoyao used a dual-hand knife-snatching move to counterattack. Though she made a mistake and was injured, the outcome was already considered fortunate. The wound was on her arm, not her heart or abdomen. Given the sharpness of the knife, a successful stab could have resulted in a deep and massive wound.

The dormitory building faced the male dorms, where a few basketball team members were present. Upon witnessing the stabbing incident, these male students didn’t flee but swiftly ran over and subdued the attacker.

The attacker was a man in his fifties, about 1.75 meters tall, and had a knife on him. Fortunately, he didn’t manage to pull it out, and several male students pinned him to the ground. Although Chu Xiaoyao was stabbed in the arm, causing her significant pain, she remained calm and exceptionally composed in such a situation. She first expressed her gratitude, then used her other hand to take out her phone and call Su Lio. Being an Innate Expert, if the assailant had accomplices, having Su Lio around would ensure their safety.

Upon receiving the call, Su Lio was initially taken aback. How did a simple trip downstairs for fruit turn into Chu Xiaoyao being stabbed? She quickly dashed out of the dormitory, her movements swift and without regard for being ostentatious. Within seconds, she appeared in front of the building and saw the assailant pinned down by several male students, as well as Chu Xiaoyao.

Helping Chu Xiaoyao to stop the bleeding and ease the pain, Su Lio apologized emotionally, feeling extremely distressed. She had just finished bathing and was combing her hair, so she let Chu Xiaoyao go downstairs alone. Otherwise, they usually went together to buy fruit. Chu Xiaoyao shook her head, knowing that it was impossible to blame Su Lio for this incident; it had nothing to do with her. The blame lied solely with the assailant.

Chu Xiaoyao didn’t know the attacker and couldn’t understand why he attempted to assassinate her. She realized that he truly intended to kill her as the stab was aimed at her heart. If she hadn’t known the knife-snatching technique, she could have been stabbed; wearing several layers of clothing wouldn’t have stopped the knife.

A murder attempt prompted campus security to quickly arrive and restrain the attacker. After being captured, he neither cursed nor resisted, only lowering his head, remaining silent like a mute.

Li Yifei rushed to the school, but the school security refused to raise the barrier. Li Yifei stepped on the gas and sped through. Damn it, of all times, they had to stop him. With Chu Xiaoyao injured, she was Li Yifei’s dearest. Yet, other cars could come and go freely. Why wasn’t his car allowed in? Li Yifei knew the ways of these security guards; they often made things difficult for Chu Xiaoyao and Su Lio. Indeed, the school rules stated that external vehicles weren’t allowed. But why out of a hundred cars, only a few were exempted? What kind of rule was that?

He rammed through the barrier, but Li Yifei didn’t drive too fast. Although upset, he couldn’t drive recklessly on campus and risk injuring innocent students, as that would make him a wrongdoer.

Su Lio was already treating Chu Xiaoyao. With her around, Li Yifei wasn’t as anxious. At least, he didn’t have to worry about their safety, and with Su Lio treating her, Chu Xiaoyao’s suffering lessened.

When Li Yifei arrived at the police station within the school, he saw Su Lio with Chu Xiaoyao standing outside. The latter’s arm was already bandaged. The wound was significant, but with Su Lio’s help, it would heal.

Li Yifei parked the car and rushed out.

Chu Xiaoyao, seeing Li Yifei run over, didn’t cry. Instead, she smiled, thinking the sunlight necessitated squinting as she widened her eyes, slightly furrowing her brows, and said, "Honey, I’m fine. Don’t worry."

Just from this, Li Yifei realized that Chu Xiaoyao had matured significantly. In the past, she might have burst into tears upon seeing Li Yifei, seeking comfort in his arms. But now, even injured and almost killed, she remained composed and even comforted him when he arrived.

Hugging the little girl, Li Yifei carefully avoided her injured arm, saying, "Silly girl, as long as you’re alright, that’s all that matters."

"I’m sorry I didn’t protect Xiaoyao," Su Lio said softly.

"It’s not your fault; such incidents are unpredictable. Has the perpetrator been caught?" Li Yifei asked.

"Yes, they’re being questioned inside," Su Lio replied. Chu Xiaoyao turned to her with a smile and winked, saying, "Honey, Ali, this is just bad luck on my part. It has nothing to do with you guys, don’t blame yourselves, really!"

"Alright, you guys sit in the car; I’ll handle this," Li Yifei nodded.

"Okay, don’t worry about us. But I’m fine, honey; control your temper," Chu Xiaoyao squeezed Li Yifei’s hand.

"Alright, don’t worry," Li Yifei smiled.

Li Yifei entered the police station, which, although within the school, was a formal branch with ten police officers. Upon entering, he saw several officers interrogating the attacker. The attacker remained silent and uncooperative, infuriating the officers as this was a university campus where a stabbing was a major incident, affecting their year-end bonuses. They couldn’t fathom what grudge could justify attempting to murder a girl.

"Who are you?" A policeman asked, seeing Li Yifei’s stern face.

"Is this the assailant?" Li Yifei asked coldly.

"Yes, what if he is, and what if he isn’t? Who are you anyway?" The officer asked unhappily.

Hearing the conversation, others also looked up at Li Yifei, not recognizing him, although one found his face familiar and said, "We’re interrogating; you should leave. This isn’t a place for you."

"It’s fine as long as it’s him," Li Yifei said. The officer in front tried to push him, but Li Yifei didn’t budge and instead pushed the officer aside, saying, "I am Li Yifei; the person he tried to kill is my family, giving me the right to be here."

"Your family?" A policeman stood up to speak but stopped when he realized the name Li Yifei, and an image flashed in his mind. He quickly asked, "Are you Li Yifei?"

Li Yifei glanced at him and walked straight to the assailant, who kept his head down, seemingly deaf to everything around.

"You dare push me, I..." Started the policeman pushed aside by Li Yifei, but a colleague stopped him, whispering, "Shut up, this is Li Yifei, haven’t you heard that name?"

"I don’t know any damn Li Yifei. Didn’t you see him push me... Damn, stop covering my mouth!" The policeman protested but was quickly hushed, "Li Yifei, the richest man in Ning Province! He looked familiar. Don’t mess this up; didn’t you hear him? His family was hurt, and we can’t handle this today. Report it immediately; the chief’s been missing all day."

Upon hearing this, the policemen realized Li Yifei’s identity and stood in awe. Even if they weren’t fully aware of his wealth or abilities, they knew of last year’s incident where Li Yifei dealt with the principal...

"Why?" Li Yifei asked coldly, facing the attacker.

The assailant trembled; he had heard the officers talking and couldn’t remain unflustered.

"I have limited patience. If you confess truthfully, I’ll ensure you spend your life in prison," Li Yifei threatened, though only he knew if he’d follow through.

The attacker seemed tempted to look up but restrained himself.

"Very well, if you want to spend your life in prison, then go. Get out at eighty and see if you can still kill," Li Yifei said, prompting the attacker to suddenly look up, eyes red, glaring at Li Yifei, "Why do you rich people get to decide our fates? Why?"

"Because you committed a crime, and today you failed, I won’t give you another chance," Li Yifei retorted coldly.

"You harmed my son first, so I deserve to kill her! She ruined my son’s life, so I must kill them for revenge!" The attacker shouted furiously.

His words stunned the policemen, clarifying the motive to Li Yifei. The attacker was the father of a disgraced graduate student who blamed Su Lio and Chu Xiaoyao, seeking vengeance.

Understanding this, Li Yifei was filled with killing intent, almost losing control. "Your son committed a crime and faced consequences. How can you blame them?"

"I don’t know if he did, but his future is ruined. After a year of hard study, he made it to graduate school and had hopes for a Ph.D., all destroyed by those women! So I hate them and must kill them to get justice for my son!" The old man gritted his teeth.
