Chapter 1480: Chapter 1470: A Ray of Hope
At this moment, four tiger-like robust men had already dashed in front of Xu Ying. Xu Ying observed their positions and realized that these four were professionally trained, capable of both combat and adaptation.
Looking at the lean and balanced physiques of the four rugged men, their facial contours appeared as if cut by a knife, indicating they were the kind of people who often fought to attain such an aura.
One of the burly men said, "Step aside, we’re real men who don’t fight women. We just want the man behind you. Hand him over, and you can go home."
Xu Ying sneered and said, "You guys are naive! For me to hand him over, you’ll have to step over my body first. I advise you to hurry back, lest you get beaten so badly by me that you can’t find your way tomorrow."
Not being able to discern the situation, the bully taunted, "Oh, she, so confident!" at which point another burly man chimed in.
"Haha, leave the woman to me. The rest of you fall back. I fancy spicy women like this. Once I conquer her, I’ll take her back and relish her," said one burly man with an evil grin.
Xu Ying said nothing, instead channeling her energy, positioning herself for delivering a powerful strike at any moment.
The sneering man foolishly stepped out from the group, approaching Xu Ying with a dirty smirk. Admiring Xu Ying’s delicate features and elegance, he laughed.
"Wow, such a pretty lady. I can’t bear to hurt you. I’m very gentle, especially with women. Just agree, or my fists may not be gentle, and your frail body can’t endure it." The burly man’s audacious demeanor clearly misguidedly assumed Xu Ying was a pushover.
Xu Ying, ever resolute with few words, propelled herself forward, launching into a lightning-fast kick aimed at one of the burly men, catching them off-guard with her challenge initiation.
In haste, he retreated, yet Xu Ying’s foot grazed his arm inducing sharp pain penetrating to the bone, clenching his teeth, his face contorted, his eyes fierce, erasing any trace of the earlier smirk.
"Hey, Long! Can you handle this? If not, I’ll step in," jeered another burly man from behind, further escalating Long’s embarrassment.
Spitting disdainfully, the burly man clenched his fists, charging straight at Xu Ying, who swiftly sidestepped the punch.
Xu Ying returned the blows with a ruthless elbow to the face. The thug momentarily dazed was mercilessly greeted with hooks and uppercuts landing forcefully.
Amid a flurry of punches, the thug was battered to the ground, prompting the remaining three burly men to tense up. They contemplated Long’s prowess but saw how swiftly Xu Ying dispatched him, realizing she was indeed extraordinary.
"Let’s all go at her together! Avenge Long!"
The trio lunged at Xu Ying, enclosing her in the middle. Xu Ying, calmly collected, sensed their movements, deftly maneuvering amidst the attack as her strikes and evasions flew like lightning.
The four of them spun wildly like a whirlwind, and soon enough the three men lay defeated on the ground. "Scram! If I see you again, I won’t be merciful."
The four bulky men staggered away, supporting each other, limping in defeat. Xu Ying watched them disappear from view, then slumped to the ground in pain from her injured arm.
She examined her clothes, noticing a gash on her arm, gritting her teeth against the pain. Tearing a strip from her shirt, she roughly bandaged her wound, then assisted Jiang Cheng back to the house.
Once Jiang Cheng regained consciousness, he found Xu Ying lying in the hospital bed. Feeling remorse, he lamented how he got drunk causing Xu Ying’s injury.
"Are you alright? It’s all my fault!" Jiang Cheng lamented, glancing at Xu Ying resting in bed.
Xu Ying smiled weakly, replying, "It’s fine, though I’m certainly not as skilled as you. If I had half of your prowess, those thugs wouldn’t have hurt me."
Jiang Cheng, more guilt-stricken, decided to stay by Xu Ying’s side. Meanwhile, Mengmeng learned about Jiang Cheng and Xu Ying’s situation, devastated. "Staying in this city will only bring more pain! It’s better to walk away..." Mengmeng said tearfully, leaving nothing but a note before departing in distress.
Returning home at noon, Jiang Cheng found Xu Ying asleep and decided to check on Mengmeng.
Inside the villa, Jiang Cheng gently opened the door. "Mengmeng, I’m back!" he called out, but only dead silence greeted him. "Oh no!" Jiang Cheng sensed something amiss.
He was about to make a call when he noticed the note on the table, realizing Mengmeng had left.
"What’s that girl thinking?" Jiang Cheng muttered to himself, unable to hold back.
Holding the note, he stood by the window, gazing at the bustling street outside, wondering where Mengmeng went.
Quickly booking a flight on his computer, Jiang Cheng saw it departing in an hour and a half, hastily packing his luggage before dashing out to catch a ride just as a taxi arrived downstairs.
"Airport, hurry!" Jiang Cheng anxiously shouted.
Ten minutes later, at the airport.
Preparing for security check, his phone rang suddenly. Jiang Cheng answered, "It’s you Elder Xu, is something wrong?"
"Ying’Er’s wound worsened!" Elder Xu’s voice echoed urgently.
"Alright, Elder Xu, have the doctor look at her, I’m heading back right away!" Jiang Cheng resolved to check on Xu Ying first, knowing her injury was for his sake.
After hanging up, Jiang Cheng promptly dialed his assistant Linda’s number, instructing her, "Linda, issue an order to lock down the airport and find Mengmeng for me!"
"Boss, what’s up with you and Mengmeng? Plus, I’ve already checked her flight details. It’s too late to seal the airport," Linda replied.
Jiang Cheng paused, saying, "Linda, track Mengmeng’s movements via satellite. Don’t lose her! Send bodyguards to ensure her safety!"
"Will do," Linda responded dutifully.
By then, Jiang Cheng was already in the cab heading to the hospital. Despite assigning Linda to secure Mengmeng, the thought of her possibly endangered left him uneasy.
Grasping at a final hope, Jiang Cheng dialed Mengmeng’s number, relieved it connected.
"Mengmeng, are you okay over there?" Jiang Cheng spoke these words hoarsely, unsure of himself, trying to suppress worries that still seeped through regardless.
