Chapter 1477: Chapter 1467: Driven to the Brink of Death
For some reason, Jiang Cheng always instinctively calls Mengmeng "little sister," even though their relationship now is that of the closest and most intimate lovers.
"So, in the end, am I just your little sister?" Mengmeng heard Jiang Cheng’s words and said softly, somewhat lost.
Jiang Cheng only saw Mengmeng’s little cherry mouth move slightly, but because her voice was so quiet, he didn’t catch it and asked, "What did you say?"
"Nothing!" Mengmeng looked at the ground, avoiding Jiang Cheng’s gaze. Jiang Cheng glanced at Mengmeng and left without turning back. Mengmeng watched Jiang Cheng’s departing figure, feeling waves of unease in her heart.
Jiang Cheng was indifferent to the woman behind him, staring at the iron gate in front of him. Just beyond the gate lay
a bloody battle. Jiang Cheng’s crimson eyes were filled with desire—the desire for a fight.
Jiang Cheng waved his hand to push open the iron gate and closed it behind him. The heavy gate stirred up dust, shutting off retreat and blocking the girl’s gaze within. To be precise, Jiang Cheng had no way back.
No matter what, Mengmeng was his favorite sister; how could he ever let her life be in danger? Today’s battle, he must not lose.
Mengmeng’s lips curled into a bitter smile, saying, "Yes, Meng Ying watched the closed door and said nothing, looking at Jiang Cheng with eyes that held not only admiration and worship but also a hint of pity. Outside the warehouse, unlike the desolation within where Mengmeng was, Jiang Cheng saw the camouflage-clad people uniformly wearing hoods, leaving only a pair of fierce eyes outside.
The eyes were no different from the Hua family, making it hard to distinguish whose side they belonged to. Jiang Cheng’s lips twisted into a cold smile; he could guess without trying that these were from the other side.
Having sent such a grand gift to the Island District mansion, how could they not send a return gift?
Thinking of this, Jiang Cheng’s lips curled into a cold smile. Even if he had to do it over, he would still send back that grand gift. Reciprocity—Jiang Cheng never took advantage of others.
The special forces opposite them instinctively stopped in their tracks with Jiang Cheng. Their side had a crushing advantage, a squad at that. And opposite, Jiang Cheng stood alone.
Yet seeing Jiang Cheng standing alone at the gate, everyone instinctively feared because of his presence!
Jiang Cheng looked at the people before him, devoid of thoughts of life or death, with only a yearning for battle. The special forces captain opposite was sweating, beads of sweat dripping to the ground, emphasizing his inner panic.
"Come!" Jiang Cheng waved at the special forces, an ostensibly provocative move, meant to incite anger, but from Jiang Cheng, it instilled terror.
Several of the soldiers instinctively swallowed. Their fear went without saying. The captain’s fingers trembled on the trigger, eyes filled with dread; his instincts told him the man before him was not one to provoke.
Jiang Cheng watched his finger move on the trigger, lips curving into a mysterious arc as he leapt into action, narrowly avoiding the bullets. The captain looked at the man before him, eyes revealing fear.
Jiang Cheng stared at the captain steadily, causing the captain to retreat a step involuntarily. Jiang Cheng’s lips formed a cold smile as he charged forward, and in the next second, the gun fell to the ground, the captain standing aside in pain, holding his dislocated arm.
Outside the warehouse was intense, Jiang Cheng weaving through several dozen soldiers, leaving soldiers collapsing wherever he fought.
Jiang Cheng clutched his wound, locking eyes with the enemy, lips still bearing that cold smile, aware that his wound was bleeding again. Despite the injuries, his combat ability was undiminished.
Yet as each second ticked by, even Superman’s energy would gradually deplete, for hundreds of elite-trained soldiers continued hammering at Jiang Cheng, and he began to struggle, slipping from the early advantage.
On the other side, a bodyguard monitoring the warehouse outside saw a change in status and reported to Xu Ying: "Miss Xu, Mr. Jiang Cheng is wounded!" "What? He’s wounded? What’s he doing now?" Xu Ying hurriedly stood up in excitement.
The bodyguard retreated a few steps, saying, "Mr. Jiang Cheng is... fighting with special forces!"
"Come on, follow me!" Xu Ying gave a command, ordering the bodyguard. Xu Ying reached outside the warehouse and saw Jiang Cheng just a meter or two away. She immediately pulled Jiang Cheng over, saying, "You’re injured and still fighting? Can’t you see your wound bleeding?"
"There’s no time to worry about that now! Mengmeng is still inside; she’s injured too. I can’t disregard her safety!" Jiang Cheng yelled angrily. Hearing Jiang Cheng’s words defending Mengmeng, Xu Ying couldn’t help but get angry, shouting, "It’s always Mengmeng this, Mengmeng that; is she really that important?"
Coming all this way to support him, yet in his eyes, there was only Mengmeng, as if she herself was worthless!
"She’s someone very important to me!" Jiang Cheng shouted desperately at Xu Ying.
With his scream, the wound seemed to open wider, and Jiang Cheng looked at it with anxiety, the mass of special forces before him further frustrating him.
"Now’s not the time for arguments, there’s no time!" Jiang Cheng glanced at Xu Ying, saying urgently. His bloodshot eyes made Xu Ying jump, looking at Jiang Cheng in a stunned silence.
Xu Ying lowered her head, the sour feeling in her eyes making her uncomfortable, harshly tossed the gun in her hand to someone beside her, glancing at the mass of people ahead, not sparing a cold snort at Jiang Cheng.
She said, "Jiang Cheng, I can help save you all! But right now, you must immediately break up with Mengmeng!"
"Break up? What breakup?" Without waiting for Jiang Cheng’s reply, Mengmeng inside the warehouse heard Xu Ying’s furious shout from outside.
"Xu Ying, you’re so despicable! Trying to take advantage of a crisis? But I, Jiang Cheng, hate being threatened the most!" Jiang Cheng was truly angered upon hearing Xu Ying’s condition for help, speaking with deep resentment.
Finishing his words, Jiang Cheng turned back and charged into the fighting crowd, enduring through dozens of soldiers, knocking them to the ground, unable to fight back.
After half an hour or so, Jiang Cheng shouted in rage, "Who is it?"
It turned out that two soldiers had positioned themselves behind Jiang Cheng. Seeing this from the corner of his eye, Jiang Cheng could only solve it one by one, starting with a sweeping leg to knock the man on the left to the ground. Just as he was about to turn to fight the right soldier directly, that soldier suddenly seized the opportunity and stabbed a knife fiercely into Jiang Cheng’s back. Blood immediately gushed from Jiang Cheng’s back, his clothes torn by the blade and sticking wetly to his back mixed with blood. Clearly, the special forces used significant force; their mission wasn’t just to wound Jiang Cheng but to kill him.
