Chapter 1476: Chapter 1466: Not Worth Mentioning

Because he heard footsteps, someone was approaching. Jiang Cheng immediately leaned against the wall and waited patiently. He looked down and saw Mengmeng clinging tightly to him.

Looking at her beautiful face, not a trace of fear, appearing very calm. Perhaps Jiang Cheng’s presence gave Mengmeng courage, a sense of reassurance.

Jiang Cheng gestured for Mengmeng to be quiet, then slowly approached the window. At this point, he saw two soldiers walking towards them.

Two people are not a problem for Jiang Cheng, and if he wants to break out of this heavily fortified area, he must have a gun.

Jiang Cheng looked at the two approaching soldiers and showed a cunning smile, then said to Mengmeng, "Stay here for now, I’ll go meet those two special forces soldiers."

"You must be careful!" Mengmeng blinked her eyes and said sincerely. Jiang Cheng nodded, then slowly flipped out the window, rolled on the ground, and hid behind a wall. At that moment, Jiang Cheng already had a dagger in his hand, its blade glinting coldly.

The two special forces soldiers, chatting and strolling forward, were very relaxed at heart. But they didn’t know, danger was slowly approaching them, death was closing in on them.

As the two just rounded the corner, Jiang Cheng dashed forward, jumping high, clamping one soldier’s neck with his legs, while the dagger in his hand flew towards the other soldier as soon as he leaped. The entire process was swift and sure.

At the same time the soldier fell, Jiang Cheng twisted the neck of the soldier he was astride backward, causing him to fall as well.

Jiang Cheng took all the guns from them and strapped all the bullet belts to himself, then put the two walkie-talkies into his pocket. He knew strong signal interference had been set up, but also couldn’t exclude the possibility that the Island District could counteract this interference.

He then tidied up the two bodies and hid them, returning to Mengmeng. Mengmeng was very relieved and happy to see Jiang Cheng suddenly equipped with so many weapons.

At this time, Jiang Cheng’s phone vibrated. He took a look and saw it was a satellite map from Matu, quickly scanning it over, all the locations etched into his mind. This was his skill, honed through years of training.

Then Jiang Cheng confirmed his position, found an exit, and planned his escape route, memorizing it. He turned to Mengmeng and said, "Now we can set off. With this map, we’ll save a lot of time and won’t get lost in this place."

After speaking, Jiang Cheng took Mengmeng and started advancing again. This time, he had Mengmeng closely follow behind, while he held his gun and walked in front, keeping a low profile, his finger poised to pull the trigger at any moment.

The two moved quickly, weaving through rows of varied warehouses. The different types of warehouses were quite complex, which exactly provided Jiang Cheng the cover to silently travel through this area densely populated with special forces.

Suddenly, someone called from behind, "Stop."

Mengmeng was too scared to move, but Jiang Cheng quickly rolled to the side, fired a reverse shot, hitting squarely between the brows, killing instantly.

Jiang Cheng smirked, "Fool, you should’ve shot directly. Offering words in front of me, you had only one fate—death."

Jiang Cheng did not handle the body, as the gunshot would have alerted others. He didn’t have time to deal with the body, so he quickly sprinted forward.

Just after passing a wall, a special forces soldier spotted Jiang Cheng and Mengmeng. But before he could raise his gun, Jiang Cheng shot him, hitting him right between the eyes. The soldier didn’t understand how, though he had spotted Jiang Cheng first, he ended up on the ground. Jiang Cheng’s speed was too fast, leaving no time for the soldier to react.

As soon as the soldier processed it, the merciless bullet had already penetrated the body, killing instantly. The reason Jiang Cheng aimed at the head was precisely for this—only a headshot results in instant death with no reaction time.

Chest shots or elsewhere would allow a few seconds before death, potentially hindering Jiang Cheng’s advance, and more gunfire would reveal his position sooner to the enemy.

With these sporadic shots, they couldn’t pinpoint it was Jiang Cheng firing, while the interfered signals gave him a good buffer time.

Jiang Cheng rounded a corner and spotted a special forces soldier, swiftly solving it with a shot. But he suddenly sensed danger from behind, promptly spun around, and fired a flurry of bullets wildly. One shadow fell, but simultaneously, Mengmeng was affected, hit by a stray bullet. Though not fatal, the blood was flowing out and needed immediate bandaging.

Mengmeng had fainted from fright, so Jiang Cheng slung her over his shoulder and sprinted forward crazily. Ahead appeared a large warehouse; Jiang Cheng rushed in and slammed the door shut.

Setting Mengmeng down, blood had stained Jiang Cheng’s clothes. Jiang Cheng tore his clothing into strips and simply treated her wound, causing Mengmeng to open her eyes in pain.

Jiang Cheng placed a cloth-wrapped stick into Mengmeng’s mouth and said, "Mengmeng, you must endure. I have to bind your wound, or we won’t be able to escape."

Mengmeng, despite her usual frailty, faced with death and Jiang Cheng’s presence, nodded resolutely. But the pain still brought tears to her eyes.

Jiang Cheng watched Mengmeng’s pained expression, his eyes also brimming with tears. He had promised himself countless times to protect Mengmeng, not to let her suffer even a bit, but today she was actually shot. This was unacceptable and unforgivable to himself. Mengmeng watching Jiang Cheng seriously bandaging her, like a gentle nurse, hadn’t expected the iron-willed man to have such a tender side.

Mengmeng reached out to wipe Jiang Cheng’s tears. She wanted to tell him, don’t cry, I’m fine, as long as you’re by my side, I wouldn’t hesitate to go through anything.

But with the cloth in her mouth, she couldn’t speak. Jiang Cheng quickly finished bandaging Mengmeng’s wound, then said to her, "Rest assured, I’ll get you out. We’ll break through; we’ll go see fireworks."

"Jiang Cheng, do we really still have a chance to get out? Can we truly see fireworks?" Mengmeng’s eyes filled with hope as she gazed up at the man holding her.

Outside, the footsteps grew louder; Jiang Cheng’s forehead was soaked in sweat. He stood steadfast at the door, the thick iron door offering him no sense of security. He knew such a door was nothing to the special forces outside.

Jiang Cheng nodded, not even glancing at Mengmeng, said, "Little sister, wait here, I’ll go check," carelessly tossing the words, Jiang Cheng walked directly to the door crack.
