Chapter 1437: Chapter 1427: Drinking Freely
Bam! As he was thinking, his door was kicked open again. The principal looked at the door with grief. This solid wood door would inevitably be kicked broken eventually, yet he couldn’t help but ingratiate himself with Jiang Cheng against his will.
Jiang Cheng glanced at the principal with undisguised disdain, tossed a comment that the school’s atmosphere was lacking, suggesting that if the school’s culture improved, the principal would naturally receive more attention. Then he left without looking back.
The principal watched Jiang Cheng walk away without looking back, seemingly having realized something. He nodded silently.
Principal, the occurrence of this incident indeed involves my responsibility as well. After all, it happened in my classroom. However, you also know the identity of that child. Plus, you originally told me not to bother with him. Back when I didn’t want this child, you insisted on putting him in my class, and now this incident happens, should I bear the consequences?" A young man furiously shouted at a greasy middle-aged man.
"Director Yang! Even I can’t help with this, I don’t need to explain the powerful figure above. I don’t want things to be like this either, but I absolutely can’t neglect that person!" The greasy middle-aged man nicknamed the principal said irritably. The person standing before him was truly difficult, having been pestering for quite a while.
No matter how much he pesters, it can’t change the fact he’s being fired. He doesn’t know what kind of influence someone who can make the education committee boss call and request care repeatedly has, only knowing he must carefully entertain them.
This made the principal a bit puzzled inwardly, who exactly is this person? Why must he insist on coming here to be a teacher? The principal wondered, but it was just idle thinking. He knew well what should be asked and what shouldn’t.
Are you going to withdraw the disciplinary action?" Old Yang asked, his face flushed with anger. The principal looked at Director Yang’s aggressive posture, a surge of anger rising within. Get out!" The principal roared, red in the face as he took a sip of tea to calm himself. Truly... now anyone thinks they can just shout at him. Can he even continue being the principal?
Director Yang walked out with an indignant look. Actually, Director Yang was quite young, only having a fiercely upright character, earning him this nickname. "Dear Mr. Yang, I sincerely salute you." Director Yang looked at the letter in his hand and smiled satisfactorily. Anyway, an attempt must be made.
Mr. Yang, your letter." When Director Yang arrived at the office, he placed the letter on Jiang Cheng’s desk. Jiang Cheng curiously opened the letter. "Mr. Yang, I feel the incident that day had little to do with me. Firstly, the child has a background. Secondly, I wasn’t on-site during the event." Jiang Cheng looked at the letter, a sly smile curling at his lips. This Director Yang was quite bold.
He directly dialed the principal, "Hello, Principal. That Director Yang, let him stay." Without waiting for the principal to reply, Jiang Cheng hung up the call.
He really didn’t wish to waste time bantering with that greasy principal. Yet, the principal foolishly called back.
Hello, Mr. Yang? You seem to have some interest in Director Yang?" The principal spoke mischievously. His main goal wasn’t to see who Jiang Cheng befriended, but to ensure he didn’t offend anyone. Remembering his anger toward Director Yang earlier that morning, the principal couldn’t help but feel a bit regretful, worried that if Jiang Cheng and Director Yang were acquaintances, he’d have also offended Jiang Cheng.
"No." Jiang Cheng replied straightforwardly, finding the principal’s slippery tone truly revolting.
But isn’t that the way of the Hua Family? If you’re not adept at playing both sides, you risk being left out. Jiang Cheng sighed reluctantly, yet felt some interest in the straightforward Director Yang.
Is it because of Director Xu?" The principal breathed a sigh of relief, potentially avoiding offending the intimidating man. He shivered in his sweaty shirt, a smell of poverty wafting up, making one wince.
The principal frowned, trying to make his voice sound amiable. "Xu Ying? What’s she got to do with this?" Jiang Cheng frowned unhappily, unable to recall any connection between Xu Ying and Director Yang. Though Xu Ying was the guidance director, she had only recently taken up the position.
The mysteriousness surrounding Director Yang deepened, pushing Jiang Cheng to want to uncover the veil and investigate.
Oh, it’s alright then. Just thought Xu Ying, as a computer teacher, might chat with Director Yang given he knows a bit about computers." Jiang Cheng was astonished by the principal’s words, "What did you say? Director Yang knows computers? What does he know?" Hearing Jiang Cheng’s excited tone, the principal stammered.
I don’t know exactly, perhaps you should speak with Director Yang?" Jiang Cheng stopped wasting words with the fat middle-aged man and hung up. The principal angrily threw his phone on the ground, disdainfully glaring at it. It was bad enough having his phone calls hung up once or twice, but now it was becoming a habit.
The principal glanced grimly at the phone, still oblivious to what kind of person Jiang Cheng was to act so arrogantly.
Jiang Cheng opened the office door. Director Yang glanced at Jiang Cheng, and continued to bow his head in work as if he hadn’t seen him. "Director Yang, can we go outside and talk?" Jiang Cheng asked directly.
Director Yang seemed somewhat reluctant, but still put down his pen and went out with Jiang Cheng.
Thank you." Once outside, Director Yang immediately spoke up and even formally bowing. Jiang Cheng felt a bit regretful, "I heard you understand computers." Jiang Cheng asked fervently.
A bit of coding." Director Yang threw out four words and left directly. Jiang Cheng watched Director Yang’s departing back, growing even more fascinated by him.
While immersed in thought, he bumped into someone. Jiang Cheng turned angrily, only to see Xu Ying’s universally disliked face.
It seems others have quite an opinion of you!" Xu Ying smiled, speaking to Jiang Cheng. "Think about developing good relationships with people, my dear Jiang!"
Jiang Cheng reluctantly ruffled his hair and left, leaving behind a grinning Xu Ying.
Night fell, the wind was light and the clouds were calm. Jiang Cheng tossed and turned, realizing he needed some connections. Other teachers lived in the 97 dormitory.
He, however, managed to secure a teacher’s villa. Jiang Cheng looked at the teaching building. The rooftop still had twinkling lights.
Jiang Cheng donned a coat and headed to the rooftop. The breeze on the rooftop was refreshing, but he saw someone drinking upfront. Approaching, he found it was Director Yang.
Jiang Cheng nonchalantly grabbed a bottle of beer and clinked it with Director Yang.
Director Yang looked up, seeing Jiang Cheng, and smirked sarcastically. "Teacher Jiang, why aren’t you enjoying yourself in your apartment, what brings you here?"
Listening to the sarcastic tones from Director Yang, Jiang Cheng increasingly believed Xu Ying was right, Director Yang clearly held a grudge against him.
Not fazed, Jiang Cheng chatted casually with Director Yang, going through a box of beers. Together they soaked in the gentle night air, listening to stories of wind and alcohol in this city.
Jiang Cheng suddenly recalled how he once shared such nights with friends after graduation, recalling that they hadn’t gathered much since.
Realizing this, Jiang Cheng more boldly and freely drank with Director Yang on the rooftop. Beer bottles were scattered everywhere. Late into the night, Jiang Cheng and Director Yang helped each other descend the stairs.
The alcohol numbed their nerves, but of all things, Jiang Cheng was still happy, because this evening on the rooftop, something had changed. For instance, prejudice.
