Chapter 1435: Chapter 1425: Unremarkable Appearance

Back home, Jiang Cheng took a short nap and soon it was time to go to school. He took Xu Ying along, driving his Camry, heading towards Fu Yi Middle School.

It was the time for school, and at the school gate, people were coming and going—all students heading to class. Jiang Cheng parked the car by the roadside, watching these energetic students, he couldn’t help but reminisce about his own youthful days, those fleeting years, the best of times.

After most of the students had gone in, Jiang Cheng and Xu Ying got out of the car and walked straight towards the school.

Hey! What are you two doing! What’s your business here! The old gatekeeper spotted the man and woman and was displeased as they just ignored him and tried to walk in. Although the woman looked nice, that wasn’t a reason to disregard him. Back in the day, he used to be the renowned figure of the school! The gatekeeper thought to himself.

Hearing the old man call out to them, Jiang Cheng and Xu Ying realized they might be acting a bit recklessly. They stopped, and Jiang Cheng addressed the old man, "Sorry, sir, we’re new teachers here reporting as agreed with your principal."

Upon hearing this, the gatekeeper’s eyes widened, "Wait here, I’ll go check." With that, he turned and went into the guardroom to make a phone call.

Soon, the old man came out again, his attitude now much kinder.

It’s good you mentioned you’re here for reporting, quickly go in, the principal is waiting for you! The gatekeeper said with a laugh, his demeanor towards them now completely different from before.

Seeing the students bustling back and forth, Jiang Cheng and Xu Ying couldn’t help but think of the past, but they only chuckled softly.

The two wandered around the campus, looking at the scene. Only a three-story teaching building was visible, while other buildings were unidentified.

Only the buildings with students caught their eye. Many students were clustered on the corridors of the teaching building, regardless of gender, chatting gloomily as if it was the end of the world.

Jiang Cheng smiled and said, "Xu Ying, guess which grade those clustered students in the first building are?" He casually placed his hand on Xu Ying’s shoulder, as if they were old friends, the gesture smooth and without a hint of awkwardness.

Them? How could you tell just like that? They don’t have grades written on their foreheads. Saying that you can tell is a bit much." Xu Ying replied doubtfully, furrowing her brows and glancing at her shoulder, feeling a strange sense of joy.

Jiang Cheng spoke proudly.

Of course, I’m that great. Look at you, unable to tell, and yet you’re still going to be a teacher. Look at their gloomy faces, eyes devoid of spirit, you can tell they’re third-year high school students right away. Saying this, he lowered the hand that was resting on Xu Ying’s shoulder, smiling with a trace of embarrassment.

Xu Ying watched Jiang Cheng lower his hand, and said somewhat sadly, "I don’t remember, I spent my third year at home. School stuff, not much fun. I’m not going to waste time talking with you. Let’s find the principal’s office quickly, or we’ll be late. I don’t want to leave a bad impression on the first day."

Jiang Cheng made a disgruntled face, glanced disdainfully at Xu Ying, and turned away without a backward glance.

Xu Ying looked at Jiang Cheng curiously, jogged a few steps to catch up. Jiang Cheng glanced meaningfully at Xu Ying, saying, "Nowadays, impression points are borrowed points. As long as you’re handsome, the impression points won’t fail. Besides, we’re not like the others; rather, it’s the principal who should be keen to make a good impression on us."

Subsequently, Xu Ying casually found a nearby girl to ask. In a blink, Xu Ying learned nothing about the principal’s office from the girl. After thanking the girl, Xu Ying looked towards Zhou District, hoping to find a teacher from this school to guide them. Students nowadays are busy with studies, classroom, dorm, canteen—living a triangular routine. Who knows where the principal is? Jiang Cheng scoffed inwardly.

After walking for about two minutes, they saw a teacher hurriedly walking by, just in time to bump into Jiang Cheng.

Jiang Cheng instinctively apologized and politely asked, "I didn’t see you just now, sorry about bumping into you. This handsome gentleman is a teacher here, right?"

The teacher was clearly irritated by Jiang Cheng’s teasing tone and answered annoyedly, "Yes, what is it?"

Jiang Cheng sensed the teacher’s displeasure, frowned, and replied firmly, "Hello, senior, we’re new teachers here. Could you please take us to the principal’s office?"

The teacher glanced disdainfully at Jiang Cheng, throwing the textbook he held into Jiang Cheng’s arms. Just about to say something, he was pushed aside by Jiang Cheng, soon the thrown textbook hit him on the head. The teacher was embarrassed, flushed with anger.

Standing and glaring at Jiang Cheng, the two looked at each other fiercely like two wild beasts. Students witnessing the scene of the altercation quickly moved away.

Just as the two were about to explode, ready to make a move, a white Bentley drove up quickly, honking.

After the car stopped, a middle-aged man with a greasy face quickly got out and bowed to Jiang Cheng.

The teacher’s expression immediately turned sour, small beads of sweat popped up on his forehead showing his nervousness. Jiang Cheng waved his hand, glanced at the teacher, and then at the principal.

The temperature suddenly dropped, the implication clear.

The principal knowing how to reach his position was a clever person, if he didn’t understand a bit of worldly etiquette, how could he be this high school’s principal? The principal angrily said to the teacher: "You, as the head teacher, don’t you want your job anymore, how dare you treat Mr. Jiang like this!" The teacher seemed not fully aware, glanced at the principal, then at Jiang Cheng and finally at his textbook, like a sleepwalker.

The principal coldly looked at the teacher, nervous, his palm sweaty. He wasn’t sure of the person before him, but he knew the young teacher was sent here by the education authority.

He just knew, this was someone he couldn’t offend.

Ding... the pleasant sound of the phone ringing came through. The principal glanced at his phone, the words "Boss Li" flashed on the screen, shocking him. "Hello, Boss Li. Hello!"

An impatient voice came from the other end of the call, clearly annoyed for waiting too long. "Why did it take so long to answer the phone, has Mr. Jiang arrived? You must take good care of him; he’s someone from the Fu Weishu side. If anything happens, neither you nor I can bear the consequences."

The weary, hoarse voice struck the principal’s heart, he turned his head to look at the unimpressive Jiang Cheng feeling a jolt, trembling as he hung up the phone.

The teacher beside him saw the principal’s almost tearful expression and seemed jolted awake. He turned to Jiang Cheng and said, "Sorry, Mr. Jiang, I didn’t look properly just now, I thought you were students skipping class! Really sorry."

Hearing this, Jiang Cheng didn’t even bother to look at the teacher, only staring directly at the principal. The principal felt Jiang Cheng’s gaze.

Looking at Jiang Cheng, he stammered, "Mr. Jiang, my apologies. I’ve been remiss." The sweat on his face visibly showing his panic.

Jiang Cheng said meaningfully, "Your school really is bustling, the principal is so busy. The head teacher is so busy that he can’t tell teachers from students. Everyone knows the meaning behind these words."
