Strongest Hammer God
Chapter 1174: The Four Roles
'I'm basically done with my Laws for now,' Kyle thought. 'The next things I need to comprehend are the Level Eight Laws, and I don't have access to them. Creating my third Refined Law won't take much time, and I need to wait for Sebastian anyway.'
'I don't necessarily need to use my Formation Arrays during battle since setting up Formation Arrays requires a lot of focus. However, I could learn about the auxiliary Formation Arrays.'
At that moment, Kyle got an idea. 'Actually, wouldn't it be a great idea to use that as an identity for Black's team? The Cult of Final Fate most likely also uses Formation Arrays. I'm not the biggest fan of joining random raid parties to kill random people in the Cosmos. Well, since I don't want to be a soldier in this war, I might as well be the guy who designs the weapons.'
"I have some past experiences with Formation Arrays," Kyle transmitted. "Since we can't get a Formation Array Master right now, I might as well use my time to refresh my knowledge. I can't promise anything since I don't know how good all of these Formation Array Masters are, but having a little bit of something is better than having nothing."
"You can try, but I'm not hoping for anything," Abyssal Depths answered. "For now, we have to survive without a Formation Array Master. Since we're already talking about this, I should also mention the other three roles that need to be filled."
"There are four roles in total. One of them is the Formation Array Master. Another role is the role of the leader. The Excursion Team needs somebody who keeps everyone in line. The leader says what everyone has to do, but they also need to be the first person who joins the battle. They also need to be the most powerful member. Kyle, you will naturally be our leader. Lost Spark listens to you, and I'm weaker than you," Abyssal Depths answered.
Kyle nodded. "I'll accept the position. I'm not someone who runs from a winnable battle."
"Yep, he's a pretty good leader," Sebastian commented. "He might not be the planning type, but he usually takes on the hardest enemies."
Abyssal Depths nodded. "The third role is the role of Karmic Senser. By keeping track of subtle changes in everyone's Karma, the Karmic Senser can sometimes sense ambushes and secrets. Since they also know a lot about Karmic Luck, they can also advise the leader when an action could lead to a significant drop in Karmic Luck. They can also sense deceit during a negotiation when the team meets another team in the wild."
"Kyle, you know the Law of Karmic Causality. That automatically makes you one of the best Karmic Sensers in this entire city.""Sure, I'll also be our Karmic Senser," Kyle answered.
"The last role is the role of the guide. Being powerful doesn't automatically mean that you're experienced. The Immortal Dimension shifts constantly. Old Planet Chains break apart, and new Planet Chains form. Planets break open and reveal valuable resources, but their valuable resources also might vanish within their depths. A guide has to know a lot about the individual Planets. Having a good guide increases the likelihood of encountering valuable resources."
"However, a guide is also the mouthpiece of the team. Good guides know many other Excursion Teams. With their social network, experience, and negotiation abilities, they can save the entire team. If we face a powerful team, a good guide could ensure that our Avatars survive in exchange for some valuables. We can always find new treasures, but we can't regain lost Avatars."
"We can hire guides, but the real ones are brutally expensive. Over 99% of guides don't know enough about the Immortal Dimension, are unreliable, are cowardly, or prey on weaker teams by leading them to stronger teams. The best guides are also Karmic Sensers."
Kyle scratched the back of his head. "I guess you're not a guide, right?"
"If I were, we wouldn't have met," Abyssal Depths answered. "Guides don't lack Karmic Luck."
"Guess we have to make do without one," Kyle commented with a sigh.
"A good guide will come with time," Abyssal Depths transmitted. "At some point, we will meet an Excursion Team with a good guide. Killing an actual guide is frowned upon by most Excursion Teams since most guides are unaffiliated people who can be hired by all teams. If we kill their team and let them leave, we can ask them to accompany us the next time."
"Let's hope it works out," Kyle commented. "Sucks that we don't have a guide or a Formation Array Master, but there's nothing we can really do about it."
"We already have a good Karmic Senser," Abyssal Depths answered. "Most teams on our level lack two or three out of the four roles."
"Could I become a guide?" Sebastian asked. "I know I'm inexperienced, but is there a way to work towards becoming a guide?"
"Not if you want to remain in this team," Abyssal Depths answered. "A guide needs experience and social connections, and you only truly get those by going on excursions with many different teams. A guide you can't hire doesn't have much value."
Sebastian sighed. "Makes sense."
The three of them planned a bit more before they all agreed on how to proceed.
Abyssal Depths would try to find a fourth member. Sebastian would focus on comprehending the Major Complex Law of Primordial Forces. Kyle would work on his Refined Law and Formation Arrays. He didn't tell Abyssal Depths that he would work on a Refined Law. Instead, he told her that he would simply look into Formation Arrays.
Finally, the team disbanded. They would meet again in 70,000 years. By then, Sebastian should be done with comprehending his Laws.
Every citizen with permission to stay within Wild's Summit had access to their own basic room. These rooms had Formation Arrays that isolated them from Divine Consciousnesses, but they were not suited for training one's Imposing Law. An Immortal could destroy the rooms if they launched an actual attack, and working on one's Imposing Law required one to launch attacks. Citizens could buy better rooms, but they were a lot more expensive.
Kyle entered his room with two of his Avatars. The last Avatar would remain in the middle of Wild's Summit, trying to gain more information and learn more about the Immortal Dimension. The more he knew, the more informed his choices would be.
'In 70,000 years, we will start our first excursion. Until then, I should be finished with my new Refined Law. Additionally, I can also use this time to get Black's team into the Cult of Final Fate.'
'Buying guides and manuals for Formation Arrays is brutally expensive, and you need a ton of resources to practice. I don't have nearly enough resources to support my studies in a meaningful way. If I can prove to the Cult that I'm talented with Formation Arrays, they might sponsor my studies.'
'But first...'
Kyle took out his Universe Connector.
'Let's give Black's team a unique identity with a new Refined Law!'
