Special Base (4th Zone)

Jeremy Night left the room a few minutes later. He headed toward the administration building. He had already removed the bad memories from his mind.

He was going to focus on the wilderness. After coming back from City A, he hadn’t had time to visit the wilderness here. The representatives had arrived rather early yesterday.

On the way, he came across the members. He saw most of them look at him and then turn away to discuss something with their friends.

Jeremy Night’s eyes were sharp. How could their smirks and amused smiles go unnoticed by him? He had seen everything. He realized that they were gloating over his circumstances.

But they didn’t know that he was not thinking about it anymore. Before joining the special base, his ultimate concern had been Stella.

In fact, he had wanted to enter the top three zones to help her come out of the egg. She had demanded huge resources earlier. Now that she was inside the mental zone with a full presence, his uncertainty was gone.

He was more confident than ever. In fact, he could enter the top three zones on his own. He didn’t need to climb the ladder provided by others.

If he had revealed his lifeline beast, he doubted whether the representative from the 3rd zone would continue to ignore him.

He shook his head and walked past the doubting people. Soon, he reached the administration building. People were coming out and going inside the building.

Since the first recruitment was over, it was time for everyone to hunt inside the wilderness. He walked inside. He didn’t stop anywhere and looked for Elder Smith.

Upon seeing him behind the desk, he walked over to join the line. His presence drew everyone’s attention. Even the elders looked at him with surprise.

When Elder Smith saw him, he simply nodded to him with a smile. The Beast Taming groups stood behind him as well. As time passed, the line grew longer.

Since he was the center of attention here, he heard them talking behind his back. Everyone discussed the warnings issued by Elder Sandra. They knew it was related to Jeremy Night.

Some were looking at him with interest. They were curious about how a Tier-4 Beast Tamer was able to convince the elders. His name was on the leaderboard rankings list as well.

If the representative had recruited Jeremy Night yesterday, no elder would have objected to it. Even most of the members were convinced by Jeremy’s strength; they were just jealous of his ability to fight across tiers.

However, a few other gazes were filled with extreme hostility. It was clear that they hated him.

Jeremy didn’t know what he had done to attract such extreme hatred.

When his turn came, he looked at Elder Smith and greeted him. Elder Smith’s eyes showed complex emotions; he didn’t know whether to console or encourage him.

Looking at Jeremy Night’s cheerful mood, he sighed inwardly. He didn’t know whether the young man was forcing it or not.

"What do you want to do?" Smith asked.

Hearing that, Jeremy smiled and said, "Give me a week-long mission."

When Elder Smith heard that, he nodded his head. Then he took out the device and gave it to Jeremy Night.

Jeremy Night accepted the device and began to go through the missions. He simply looked for the higher-tier missions.

He then came across a suitable one where he just needed to kill Tier-6 beasts and bring back their bodies.

There were credit points and leaderboard points for each corpse, so there was no limit. Jeremy smiled after seeing the mission description.

Elder Smith thought the young man underestimated the mission.

"It’s fine even if you bring only one corpse; the points will still be added to your account," he said.

Hearing that, Jeremy Night selected the mission and gave the device back to Elder Smith. Elder Smith then processed it further.

When the mission registration was done, Jeremy Night left the administration building and went toward the camp exit.

Everyone watched the retreating back of Jeremy Night. Most of the members had thought Jeremy Night would be sad and locked up inside his room.

On the contrary, he was actively preparing to undertake a mission. Even the elders behind the mission desk were surprised.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Night walked on foot toward the exit. He thought of Elder John, took out his device, and sent him a message.

He thought Elder John might be disappointed as well. Elder John had believed he had a chance if he became a Tier-4 Beast Tamer before the representatives’ arrival.

In the end, they needed stronger Beast Tamers who had already reached Tier-7. They had also recruited a single Tier-6 Beast Tamer.

They were probably investing in a single Tier-6 Beast Tamer instead of betting on a Tier-4 Beast Tamer like him, because the Tier-6 Beast Tamer had a higher chance of becoming a Tier-7 Beast Tamer in the future.

Jeremy Night could understand the reasoning behind the selection. Most importantly, who would bet on an unknown person like him? His thoughts were his own, shielded from Stella. Otherwise, she would be saddened.

Jeremy Night left the special base camp and made his way toward the wilderness. He walked on foot until he reached the vegetation.

After that, he used his footwork technique, covering more distance using "Feathered Steps."

He recalled all the dangerous places in the wilderness here, including that dangerous abandoned valley where he had once escaped from Tier-6 beasts.

A small river stream ran through the valley.

It was the only source of water for the corrupted beasts inhabiting the surrounding area. Last time, he had escaped from the hybrid dogs as well.

Those hybrid dogs living near the valley were extremely dangerous. This time, he was returning to the same location to pay them back.

While moving through the dense green vegetation, he used his eye power to find a safe passage. Not long after entering the wilderness, he spotted many mid-tier Corrupted beasts.

The path to the abandoned valley was especially harsh because there was no fixed trail; one had to carve out their own path to reach the location.

He remembered that once he carved a path out of the dense green vegetation, he would reach the dry plain that led to the abandoned valley-the place filled with hybrid dogs.
