STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer
Chapter 1112: Part 1: The Final 15 Names
Special Base (4th Zone)
Rene didn’t bother the young people who were lurking nearby. She minded her own business and continued to roam around the place.
Like Elder Rosalie, it was her first visit here to the 4th Zone, so she wanted to take a look around.
She knew that special bases were built mostly in the middle of the wilderness. She also felt the difference in the environment here.
The concentration of natural energy was not to her taste. Her lifeline beast communicated the same to her, not wanting to come outside.
Rene’s mouth curved into a wild arc. Her gaze swept across the different buildings as she continued on foot, coming across members one by one.
Growing up in a strict household, she had missed out on both university and Special Base education.
She didn’t know what it felt like to study here. More than studying, she could tell there was a lot more fighting and training.
It was not a well-rounded practice here; you could get that well-rounded education back in university or homeschool.
She had had the chance to study at Central University, but her family hadn’t allowed it. She had been completely homeschooled.
Walking around the campus, she recalled old memories. Past many buildings, she eventually reached the administration building.
She saw a few beast tamers roaming near the entrance. Seeing them made her curious, so she walked up to them. As she got closer, she heard them talking about the leaderboard rankings.
Intrigued, she stepped inside. She saw a huge hall with long, wide mission desks backed by numerous screens.
Eventually, her gaze fell on another large screen not far away. She walked toward it.
Arriving in front of the screen, she looked up and saw the title: "Leaderboard Rankings."
The screen displayed the top 50 names on the leaderboard. There were also three separate lists for the first-, second-, and third-year students.
Her curiosity was piqued as her gaze moved over the rankings. She saw that several of the names on the screen were those she had selected for her own list.
Satisfied with her choices, she was about to look away when an interesting name caught her eye.
That name was none other than "Jeremy Night." His name was in the top 50.
Her eyes flashed with an intriguing gleam. Her curiosity hadn’t led her astray; the young man truly had something special about him.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have made the top 50 despite having only Tier-4 strength. Unfortunately, she couldn’t force Elder Rosalie to select him.
She knew quotas were limited, and they had to choose the best combination of Beast Tamers within those constraints.
There was a lot of calculation behind the selection, and no one would accept choosing a Tier-4 Beast Tamer, especially since they were the first beast-taming force to arrive.
They had to select the most deserving candidates instead. She also considered that Jeremy Night still had two more years ahead of him. She then shifted her attention to the other names on the list.
Wondering what talents she might have overlooked, she went through the list once more, noting that most of them were attack-type beast tamers.
A few minutes later, she made her way back to the meeting hall and returned to her seat.
Everyone looked at her in surprise, wondering what she had been up to in the meantime.
"Done with your exploration?" her friend asked.
"Yes," Rene replied.
Ken and the others watched them as well.
Meanwhile, Lord Rosalie Rose had finished reviewing the lists from the other six people. She noted a few missing talents among them.
She spent the next ten minutes preparing the final selection, a list of 15 members.
When she finished, the list was well-rounded, including healing-type Beast Tamers as well.
Almost everyone was S-Grade, except for one or two who were A-Grade.
One of them was an A-Grade Weapon-Type Talent, a Tier-6 female Beast Tamer.
Weapon-type talents were in high demand everywhere, and her lifeline beast was a flying type, making for a deadly combination.
Lord Rosalie had included her in the final list; she was the only Tier-6 Beast Tamer among the 15, while the rest were Tier-7.
Pleased with the list, Lord Rosalie shared it with the other eight people once they got their devices back. The eight beast tamers began reviewing the names.
Ken and the other male beast tamers examined the screen with scrutinizing gazes. They could all see that Lord Rosalie had assembled the list with great care.
The list was well-balanced rather than packed exclusively with attack- and support-type beast tamers; she had made sure to include healing and defensive types as well.
Rene, on the other hand, was pleased to see that several of her suggested candidates had made the cut.
Ten minutes later, Rosalie gathered their opinions one by one and realized everyone was satisfied. Now, it was time to assess the candidates in person.
She used her device to call Elder Sandra, who answered right away. Rosalie told her that the final list was ready.
After sharing the list with Elder Sandra, Rosalie instructed her to bring the 15 candidates to the meeting hall so she could inspect their talents and lifeline beasts firsthand.
Elder Sandra agreed. Once the call ended, she looked over the final list. While several expected names were there, the one she was hoping to see was missing, Jeremy Night.
Her rational mind told her it made sense; Jeremy Night had the lowest chance since everyone prioritized Tier-7 Beast Tamers.
She couldn’t blame them, nor could she sway Lord Rosalie. Sandra closed her eyes for a moment.
She then called the selected Beast Tamers one by one, instructing them to report to the meeting hall immediately.
The chosen candidates were on cloud nine, quickly leaving their rooms and hurrying toward the hall.
Elder Sandra stepped out of her office as well. On the way, she encountered the other elders and nodded to them as she passed.
Seeing her nod, the elders knew the selection was complete.
