Chapter 1052: Part 1: The Uncharted Barren Land

Wilderness (Special Base)

Jeremy Night crossed half a mile on foot. Apart from the dry wind brushing against his face, he hadn’t faced anything.

There were no corrupted beast sightings in this area. The helmet device was active; it had recorded the path up to now.

Since he had decided to return after half a mile, he stopped in his tracks. Under the hot sun, he didn’t want to head back right away.

He looked around and saw a huge bedrock formation not far away. The bedrock was completely dry, but the shadow cast by it was a good resting spot.

Jeremy walked up to the bedrock. After arriving in the shaded area, he immediately found relief from the scorching sun and hot wind.

He sat on the ground. He felt a cooling sensation from the earth, then watched his surroundings for some time before deciding to lean against the rock wall.

Without realizing it, he began to feel sleepy. For a second, he forgot that he was resting in the barren wilderness, which was extremely dangerous.

Jeremy Night hadn’t slept because he had spent the previous night recovering. He shut his eyes.

Stellaris was awake now. Steady natural energy was entering the beast egg.

Time passed.

The hot wind continued to touch the surface of the dry, cracked earth.

Meanwhile, half a mile further into the barren land, there was a series of holes in the ground. The holes were the size of large cave openings, leading deep underground.

Thud!

A series of noises sounded. Not long after, a giant gray spider walked out of the hole. It was massive in size.

The gray spider was over 12 metres in height and 18 metres in length. Its leg span was over 21 metres.

The back of the gray spider had numerous black dots and was covered in spurs.

It was a Tier-7 Corrupted Beast with eight eyes and venomous fangs. The Tier-7 gray spider had just sensed vibrations coming from half a mile away.

The powerful beast was sensitive to vibrations; it could sense them from over half a mile away. The Tier-7 spider was intelligent.

Curious, it decided to investigate. It started moving toward the source at a steady pace, covering ground rapidly.

Thud!

The movement of the spider beast created a sharp noise. Because of its high speed, the force of the wind swept up the nearby sand and stones.

It left behind a trail of smoke and dust.

It didn’t take long for the spider to cross the half-mile. The beast had felt vibrations coming from this area.

The giant spider observed its surroundings with eight black eyes. It saw a series of huge rocks blocking its vision.

Its natural instinct was to check out the place first. The giant spider went to the nearest bedrock and saw that there was nothing around it.

No other beasts were resting here. It then went to the other rocks, one by one.

A few minutes earlier,

Stellaris had long since recovered her mental strength. She had continued absorbing natural energy to build up her reserves.

Hatching the egg required a huge amount of energy. Before awakening, she had done it out of instinct. Now that she was awake, she could do it much more actively.

She could continue to absorb natural energy all day and night. She believed it wouldn’t be long before the egg hatched.

She could feel her body inside the egg. Her memories were incomplete; otherwise, she would have found a quick way to solve the problem.

Suddenly, she sensed the movement of the beast. She spread her powerful consciousness to observe the surroundings.

She saw Jeremy Night sleeping without a care for his surroundings.

She knew the reason: he had been practicing all night to recover from his internal injuries.

She hadn’t disturbed him earlier because she had been focusing on accumulating energy at the time.

Her consciousness soon captured the sight of the corrupted beast. She saw a 12-metre-tall spider.

From the size and the pressure radiating from the beast, Stellaris knew it was a Tier-7 Corrupted Beast.

With her help, Jeremy Night could kill the Tier-7 beast, but the problem was its Ability.

These powerful Corrupted Beasts had abilities as well, and it required experience to evade those attacks.

That was why she hadn’t wanted Jeremy Night to continue the battle against the Tier-7 Worm Beast earlier.

She had changed her mind; she didn’t want Jeremy Night to face Tier-7 beasts and above before she hatched.

With her appearance outside, it would be much easier. Stellaris then began to observe the massive spider.

The massive spider went to the bedrock to check.

Seeing that, Stellaris understood: this might be the beast’s territory, or it could have felt the presence of Jeremy Night.

[Jeremy, wake up.]

She spoke to him in his mind.

Hearing that, Jeremy Night opened his eyes. He saw the wide, open barren land and felt the scorching wind touching the ground.

Jeremy was shocked. He couldn’t believe he had made such a dangerous mistake. Fortunately, Stellaris had woken him up.

"Thanks, Stella," Jeremy Night replied in his mind.

He didn’t know why he had shortened the name Stellaris to Stella, but he liked it.

Stellaris didn’t mind being addressed as Stella.

[I’m going to tell you something. Don’t make a move. Stay still.]

Jeremy Night heard Stella’s voice again. After hearing that, his heart stirred; he guessed there was danger around him.

"What is it?" Jeremy asked.

[A Tier-7 Gray Spider is looking for prey. It might have felt your presence earlier and come out to hunt. So don’t make any moves. It can sense vibrations.]

Hearing that, Jeremy Night calmed his heart. He trusted Stella. It was Stella who had saved him from the Tier-7 Worm Beast earlier.

He didn’t know whether it was a coincidence or not. Ever since Stella’s awakening, he kept coming across Tier-7 beasts, yet he was not afraid of them.

Tier-7 beasts are something third-year students of the base are supposed to face. But here I am, facing one before even reaching Tier-4.
