Chapter 70: Chapter 70: The Power of Luosifen

Hua Buwan looked down at the steaming bowl of luosifen on the table. Her hand, which had just happily picked up her chopsticks ready to dig in, trembled slightly. Was Ling Qianjun here?

Judging from the sound, he was gagging and throwing up violently. Was the power of luosifen really that strong?

She put down her chopsticks and hurried over to the back door to check, only to find it closed.

She opened the door and looked around. There was no sign of him inside. Had the smell of luosifen chased him away?

Hua Buwan waited for a moment. Once she confirmed that Ling Qianjun had returned to Dongxuan Country and wasn’t coming back, she picked up her chopsticks and began slurping her noodles.

She had just been thinking about avoiding Ling Qianjun by taking her bowl up to the second floor to eat. Now, there was no need for that.

The luosifen sold at street stalls could be customized with many toppings. However, hers was a five- or six-yuan packet bought online, which only contained a few peanuts and some dried bamboo shoots. Even so, the taste was quite decent, and Hua Buwan thoroughly enjoyed her meal.

Ling Qianjun genuinely couldn’t handle the stench. He had slammed the door shut behind him and retreated to Dongxuan Country.

As soon as he was outside, he leaned against a tree and vomited profusely. Afterward, he hurriedly took several deep breaths. Only when he sensed that the surrounding air lacked that distinct smell of excrement did he let out a sigh of relief.

But on second thought, why would the grocery store emit such a stench? Could something have gone wrong in the supermarket? Was Buwan in danger?

His expression turned cold. Looking as though he were ready to face death itself, he turned around and pulled open the Any Door.

The moment the door opened, the scent of luosifen surged forward like a heatwave. Unable to hold back, Ling Qianjun turned his head and began retching all over again.

Only this time, he didn’t return to Dongxuan Country. Instead of closing the door, he rushed to Hua Buwan’s bathroom and threw up into the toilet.

Hua Buwan had just swallowed her last bite of luosifen and even drank a few mouthfuls of the broth. She quickly cleared her bowl and hurried over to the bathroom.

She knew that some people couldn’t tolerate the smell of luosifen, much like how some people couldn’t stand the smell of durian—a single whiff was enough to turn their stomachs.

Because of this, she had hurried to finish eating and clean up the dishes so that Ling Qianjun wouldn’t have to endure the smell for too long.

The supermarket door was left wide open to let the odor dissipate a little.

Standing by the bathroom door, Hua Buwan watched Ling Qianjun turn on the faucet to rinse his mouth after throwing up. "I’m so sorry," she said apologetically. "I didn’t know you couldn’t stand the smell of luosifen. I thought you wouldn’t be coming back for a while, so I continued eating on the first floor. I’ll be more careful from now on and go up to the second floor whenever I eat it."

"What is this... luosifen?" Ling Qianjun washed his face and gathered his wits before turning to look at her. He wondered if it was a dish made of excrement.

Hua Buwan explained, "It’s a type of rice noodle. The broth is boiled with river snails, and it’s served with various other toppings."

"I see. So that’s what you were eating." Ling Qianjun desperately wanted to ask how she managed to put something so foul-smelling into her mouth, but he held his tongue. He had genuinely almost believed she was eating excrement.

"I’ve finished eating and cleaned everything up. You can come out now," Hua Buwan gestured to him. She then walked over to the front of the supermarket and threw all the windows wide open.

Ling Qianjun took a few tentative steps out of the bathroom. The stench still lingered in the air, but it was now barely tolerable.

Following Hua Buwan’s lead, he walked to the supermarket entrance. The smell was the faintest here, making it much more comfortable to stand.

"A friend of mine is coming over this afternoon, and we might go out. I won’t be back until tonight." Worried that Ling Qianjun might find the place empty if he visited later, Hua Buwan gave him a heads-up. "Oh, right, she’s coming to see me tomorrow, too."

"Understood," Ling Qianjun replied.

After a moment of thought, Hua Buwan added, "If you need to take anything while I’m not here, just grab it yourself. You’re familiar with the supermarket now anyway, so make yourself at home."

"Alright." Ling Qianjun didn’t refuse.

He picked up his smartphone and handed it to Hua Buwan. "Take a look at this."

Hua Buwan leaned in suspiciously.
