Chapter 69: Chapter 69: The Family Members Are Poisoned

"No! Everyone, go to sleep."

Ling Qianjun refused them with absolute firmness. If he gave in now, there would be a next time. Buwan had warned him beforehand that he must never let his family become "smartphone addicts," as becoming too absorbed would cause them to lose their minds.

Smartphones were truly terrifying. It was only the first day, and Ling Qianjun had already witnessed their power. He put the phone away and lay down to rest.

The other three waited for a good while, but seeing that Ling Qianjun wouldn’t budge, they had no choice but to give up. They lay down sluggishly, their minds completely filled with the TV drama they had just watched. However, as they mulled over it, they gradually drifted into a deep slumber. Both their bodies and minds were far too exhausted; earlier, the show had kept them going, but the moment they relaxed, sleep quickly overtook them.

That was, until...

That night, all three of them had the exact same dream. In it, they became the characters from the drama they had just watched and experienced its plotline firsthand.

Ling Qianjun was sleeping soundly until he was abruptly awakened by the sound of their voices. They weren’t loud—more like soft murmurs right by his ear. But since he was sleeping right beside them, it was impossible to ignore. Thus, Ling Qianjun sat up, pricking up his ears to hear exactly what they were sleep-talking about.

Ling Yunge waved her hands incessantly, her brows tightly furrowed. "No, no, I don’t want the Scarlet Red punishment! SOB SOB!"

Ling Qianfan pouted and wailed miserably, "A flower, a flower, why am I given a flower again! Why couldn’t my nameplate be kept, Emperor!"

Xu Panqing sobbed intermittently. "My precious daughter, Mother can’t bear to let you enter the palace! Mother can’t bear it!"

The clearer the content of their sleep-talking became, the uglier Ling Qianjun’s expression grew. He thought, "Guys! You’ve totally been poisoned by that TV show! I can’t let you watch so many dramas from now on."

"Sigh." Ling Qianjun massaged his throbbing temples. He took a long moment to collect himself, waiting until all three finally stopped sleep-talking before lying back down.

The next day, Xu Panqing, Ling Yunge, and Ling Qianfan walked groggily, the dark circles under their eyes clear evidence of a poor night’s sleep. Ling Qianjun noticed the three of them frequently casting glances his way, but he said nothing, silently continuing his trek. Having only managed to fall back asleep in the middle of the night, he was now so tired that he couldn’t stop yawning. If he didn’t focus on walking, he was afraid he might trip and fall.

When they finally made it to their midday break, all four of them collapsed and instantly fell asleep. Seeing this, the government officers found it incredibly bizarre. Did they go out thieving last night? Why were the bags under their eyes so dark? Because of this, Ling Qianjun was even called over by Luo for questioning.

Meanwhile. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

Hua Buwan slept until she woke naturally. She got up, washed up, ate breakfast, and then opened the supermarket for business. Occasionally, elderly folks from town would drop by to buy soy sauce or oyster sauce, chatting with Hua Buwan for a bit. There were also groups of kids coming in together to buy drinks and snacks. Seeing people of different ages and in various stages of life every day, Hua Buwan felt the warmth of ordinary life, leaving her heart much more fulfilled.

When she had woken up that morning, Chen Jingjing had already sent her a message saying she would drop by the supermarket around two in the afternoon. She told Hua Buwan to go ahead and eat lunch first, as she would be eating at a friend’s house with her parents. Because of this, Hua Buwan didn’t plan on making any elaborate meals for lunch. She decided to simply make some river snail rice noodles. It had been quite a while since she last had them.

At noon, the entire room was permeated with the pungent aroma of the river snail rice noodles. Just then, Ling Qianjun opened the door and walked in. He was holding the smartphone, the photo gallery already open to a picture of his family of four, planning to show it to Hua Buwan.

He never expected that the moment he opened the door, he would be hit by a stench reminiscent of a latrine. Unable to hold it back, Ling Qianjun gagged. "GAG!"
