Chapter 35: Chapter 35: That Costs Extra

Hua Buwan carefully took the Jade Ring. The moment it touched her hands, she could feel the rich aura of antiquity washing over her.

She thought, "Just a deposit? That’s far too generous."

As she tucked the Jade Ring away, Hua Buwan said, "This Jade Ring is more than enough to cover the items you’re taking this time. However, renting out the stairwell for your family’s use is a separate charge."

Seeing the look of a little money-grubber written all over Hua Buwan’s face, making her look like a sly little fox, Ling Qianjun nodded in agreement. "The stairwell rental period will be quite long, so I really should offer more in exchange. I absolutely won’t let you get the short end of the stick, Buwan."

His words actually made Hua Buwan feel a bit embarrassed. In reality, she was making an absolute killing.

Next, Hua Buwan and Ling Qianjun cleared out the stairwell. The red plastic stools that had been stored there were all moved to the side of the shelves. A quick sweep and mop left the space spotless.

Following Hua Buwan’s recommendations, Ling Qianjun picked out two large, foldable plastic bathtubs. At 1.6 meters in length and width, they were plenty spacious for a normal person to bathe in. He also grabbed four toothbrushes, two tubes of toothpaste, and four towels.

Hua Buwan additionally recommended some aloe vera gel. Since his family was exiled and constantly traveling outdoors under the harsh sun, applying it would work wonders. Ling Qianjun took two jars, along with two bars of soap, two combs, and two mirrors.

Finally, there was the food: four instant noodle bowls, a few bottles of juice, several bottles of mineral water, sausages, braised eggs, braised chicken wings, shredded crab sticks, apples, and pears. By the time they finished gathering everything, the items were piled up like a small mountain in the stairwell.

"I’ll take the food back first and come get the rest later," Ling Qianjun said, packing the edibles into supermarket shopping bags. Carrying them, he headed toward the back door.

"Take care!" Hua Buwan waved, watching him leave.

Once he was gone, she swiftly slipped into her spatial dimension and had the system scan the Jade Ring.

[BEEP. Detected: One Jade Ring from Dongxuan Country, dating back a thousand years. This Jade Ring was worn by the Emperor of Dongxuan Country during his time as a Prince before ascending the throne. It is currently the only one of its kind on the market. The jade is completely transparent and flawless. Total estimated value: Ten million yuan.]

"Huh? Ten million? This little thing is worth ten million?" Hua Buwan muttered, suddenly feeling as if the Jade Ring she was holding was burning hot.

She narrowed her eyes to examine it closely and, sure enough, she spotted a line of tiny text engraved on the inside: "Property of Prince Kang."

She sighed with a touch of regret, wondering if the value would have doubled if he had worn the ring after becoming Emperor. Still, in the blink of an eye, ten million yuan was in her hands! How was this any different from a daydream!

Excitement overtook Hua Buwan, and she began spinning in circles right where she stood. Although Ling Qianjun hadn’t brought many items for exchange, each piece was of the highest quality. She had instantly become filthy rich; even picking up money off the street wouldn’t be as fast as this.

She had promised the old lady that she would accompany her to an auction in a couple of days. Hua Buwan planned to bring the Jade Ring and the Warm Jade along to test the waters. If possible, she intended to sell both. Once that fifteen million yuan safely landed in her pocket, she would lay low for a while and stop selling antiques until the heat died down.

After all, for an ordinary person, savings of fifteen million yuan were more than enough for a comfortable retirement. However, if there were opportunities to make even more, Hua Buwan definitely wouldn’t pass them up.

Putting the items away, Hua Buwan sat at the counter, took out a small notebook, and began writing down things she thought would be useful to Ling Qianjun and his family.

For anything the supermarket was lacking, she needed to stock up in advance. As for restricted goods, she would just buy a little bit at a time and slowly accumulate them—storing them in her spatial dimension meant there was nothing to worry about.

For instance, given the recent assassination attempt, they needed self-defense items: pepper spray, security-grade stun guns, mace...
