Chapter 116: Chapter 116: You’re Ruthless

Hua Ying’er was completely stunned by Hua Buwan’s words.

She had absolutely no idea about any of this. She had been away at school at the time and hadn’t made it to the hospital. When she finally got home, her parents told her that their grandparents had passed away. Furthermore, they claimed her sister had beaten them to the hospital and tricked the old couple into transferring all their assets into her name.

Her parents had insisted that her sister was rotten to the core for greedily snatching up so much of the elderly couple’s estate. They said karma would surely catch up to her!

Hearing this at the time, Hua Ying’er also felt her sister was incredibly manipulative. She never expected her to be that kind of person! But what Hua Buwan was saying now completely contradicted everything she had been told.

Hua Ying’er hesitated. She lowered her head in thought for a moment before looking back up at Hua Buwan.

Finally, she sneered at Hua Buwan and laughed derisively. "Don’t try to lie to me! You’re the biggest beneficiary here! Grandpa and Grandma gave everything to you, and Mom and Dad got absolutely nothing! Yet here you are, still trying to talk your way out of it! Do you really think I’m that easy to fool?"

Hua Buwan was speechless. She thought, "Forget it, never argue with a fool. Some people just can’t be reasoned with no matter what you say."

"Those assets should have been given to Mom. She’s Grandpa and Grandma’s only daughter. Don’t you have a guilty conscience hoarding all of it? As long as you return everything to Mom, we’ll still forgive you and treat you like family," Hua Ying’er said, believing herself to be incredibly magnanimous.

Hearing this, the man standing nearby couldn’t help but let out a scoff. "Heh."

Feeling mocked for no reason, Hua Ying’er whipped her head around and glared at him. The man kept the cold smirk on his lips and casually flipped her the middle finger. Before Hua Ying’er could retaliate, he walked straight back into his shop and shut the door.

"Hey, you... you... How can you be so rude!" Hua Ying’er pointed at the door and cursed loudly, but no one was paying attention to her anymore.

She turned back to Hua Buwan, only to find that Hua Buwan had already drawn the curtains, not sparing her another glance. She marched up and pounded on the door—BANG, BANG, BANG.

From inside the house, Hua Buwan’s voice rang out. "If you break anything else, you’ll pay ten times the damages. I’ll get a lawyer and have you locked up behind bars to make license plates. I mean it. Also, I’ve already called the police. If you don’t leave now, it’ll be too late."

Hua Buwan didn’t want to waste any more time dawdling with her because Ling Qianjun had arrived! She had to hurry to Dongxuan Country. Ling Qianjun and his men didn’t have a very long lunch break, and it would be a shame to waste even a single second.

She hadn’t actually called the cops. She had just added that female police officer on WhatsApp during their last encounter and chatted with her. Through their conversation, she knew they patrolled the town and would happen to be passing by her street right around this time.

It was merely a bluff using borrowed authority.

Sure enough, right after Hua Buwan spoke, the wail of a police siren echoed from down the road. The sound drew closer and closer, until Hua Ying’er could actually see a patrol car heading their way.

Hua Ying’er panicked instantly. She never expected Hua Buwan to actually call the cops! She was too ruthless! Terrified that the police would arrest her and force her to pay damages, Hua Ying’er didn’t dare stick around.

"You win this time, Hua Buwan! Karma’s going to get you!" she cursed.

With that, Hua Ying’er bolted away, running so fast her shoe soles were practically smoking.

Hearing the commotion fade, Hua Buwan simply pulled back a corner of the curtain for a quick glance before turning around. "Let’s go," she said to Ling Qianjun.

Ling Qianjun didn’t ask any questions. He just nodded and replied, "Alright, let’s go."

He could tell that Hua Buwan wasn’t in a very good mood. He figured the person from just now was likely her younger sister.
