Chapter 2206: Chapter 2206: Your Name

But Miss Teresa still had questions:

"A dead dragon egg, a newly built ship, how on earth did they give birth to two incomplete souls? This... doesn’t make sense."

"Mr. Hamilton just mentioned, although the dragon egg may be related to the cultists of the Dragon Feast Cult, the spiritual birth on the Radiant Messenger is most likely a miracle. As for the cultists, they were probably intending to use the power of the summoned evil object to induce the hatching of a peculiar dragon from this unique dragon egg."

Professor Ivins said, looking with great interest at the girl tightly holding onto Shard. At this moment, "Miss Malone" was undergoing changes in her facial details due to a shift in self-awareness, although her hair and eye color remained the same:

"As for why we encountered such a miracle, it should be said that if not for this near-impossible coincidence, the Dragon Feast Cult’s conspiracy would have already been realized, and we would be dead by now."

With that, he slightly bowed to the deity at the edge of the raft, who was not paying attention to them, showing that the professor truly understood everything.

"Professor, if Miss Malone was truly ’born’ on the night the cruise ship capsized, how did she get the name ’Magie Malone’?"

Miss Maxim also expressed her doubts, and Professor Ivins certainly didn’t know. The black-haired girl clinging to Shard spoke in a trembling voice:

"I remember, that’s the name I saw on a handkerchief from the corpse beside me after I fell into the sea. I... I’m not Magie Malone at all! I’m not, I’m nothing!"

"Calm down!"

Shard tried to control the embrace... he didn’t even know how to describe the other party. He looked over the girl’s shoulder at the silent deity, only to find the deity was looking at him with a gratified expression.

He tried to signal the deity for help, but the "Giver of Dreams" only smiled at him.

So Shard had to continue his comforting:

"The three illusionary realms I just experienced, you should remember them too. As the Radiant Messenger, you didn’t know the meaning of your existence, and as a stillborn dragon egg, you discussed life and death with me. In the end, when you acknowledged each other’s existence, I witnessed your most beautiful forms. Now you’re finally alive, you can finally see this world freely, so what are you worried and afraid of?"

The trembling girl finally loosened her vice-like grip on him, and in her azure eyes now lay fear and anxiety:

"I’m alive... I’m alive now... but who am I?"

"Angie Illustrious."

Shard blurted out the name, then felt a bit surprised himself:

"What would happen if I hadn’t said this name?"

While thinking about all kinds of nonsensical things, his hands pressed down on the shoulders of the black-haired girl before him. After realizing her identity, her appearance and physique underwent further change. Although she still differed from "Miss Eles" who Shard knew, to him, it was merely the difference between the "juvenile" and "mature" phases:

"I witnessed your birth, and I’ll give you a name — you are Angie Illustrious, you are the survivor from the dragon egg, you are the elf born on the Radiant Messenger. Countless miracles and your own yearning for life created who you are now."

In her azure eyes, Shard’s face was reflected. As Miss Eles ceased to tremble, he softly said:

"Welcome to this world, Miss Eles."

She closed her eyes, embracing Shard once again, but this time without the uneasiness and confusion. Shard could see she hadn’t completely adapted to her identity, still panicking because she couldn’t find her place in the world. But that no longer mattered, she would have plenty of time to learn about and experience everything, she would adapt to this world... just like he had.

"Thank you... for the name you gave me."

The sound was almost inaudible amidst the waves and wind.

"Now we only have one last thing left to do, which is to complete the final fishing task."

The forty-minute time had dwindled to just the final ten minutes, and as Shard tried to bend over to pick up the fishing rod, the blue-eyed girl held onto him tightly and wouldn’t let go.

Shard thought for a moment and realized that perhaps there wouldn’t be time for farewells later, so he wasn’t in a hurry to pick up the rod. Instead, he told Miss Teresa and the others:

"Please prepare yourselves; once I reel Miss Eles’s body up, we’ll be leaving here. There’s something in the sea that doesn’t want us to leave; you must be careful."

The witches knew what Shard meant, so they nodded nervously. Miss Teresa also realized that Shard was saying goodbye, so she asked softly:

"Will you leave immediately after you reel her up?"

"No, I’ll get you out first before leaving."

Shard corrected, while the young witch continued to gaze at him with her golden eyes. At this moment, Mia finally managed to crawl out from between the embracing bodies of Shard and Miss Eles, thanks to Miss Eles’ good physique, which allowed the cat to find a little space.

"Meow~"

Despite the rain, Mia seemed unbothered, sitting on Shard’s shoulder and calling out around them, without any apparent meaning. On the other hand, Miss Teresa asked with a hint of sadness:

"Is there anything you want to say to me?"

"I... will meet again, I promise."

Shard said seriously, as Professor Ivins slightly turned his head away from watching them, while Maid Miss Maxim kept winking at Shard as a hint.

Finally, Miss Teresa could no longer hold back:

"If you want to say goodbye to me, could you first let go of her?"

The blue-eyed girl, unwilling to lose her support, tightly hugged Shard without letting go, and upon hearing Miss Teresa, she widened her eyes and questioned the witch:

"I am just a newly born, can’t you yield to me a little?"

"With such... a figure, you dare claim to be a child?"

Normally so elegant, Schultz Teresa couldn’t help but retort:

"Don’t try to speak to me from a moral high ground. I understand your form of existence. Though your birth is recent, your experiences are definitely not that of a child. Now let go of him, don’t disrupt our farewell!"

It was clear that Professor Ivins was stifling a laugh, while Miss Maxim looked quite contently at Miss Teresa. She believed that Miss Teresa, already chosen as an apprentice by Miss Violet, was likely the Kingdom’s successor, and at this moment, she indeed showed the character of a Witch Empress successor.

Perhaps realizing that Miss Teresa was truly angry, the blue-eyed girl finally let go of Shard, stepping back a pace. The cat on Shard’s shoulder seemed alert, watching as the Blonde Witch strode over and, with a deep breath, embraced Shard’s neck for a deep kiss.

Compared to the Outlander who has already been "special training" by the Sixth Era Witch, Miss Teresa was noticeably inexperienced in kissing, almost suffocating. But at least her inner passion and reluctance for this farewell were fully conveyed through this kiss.

If Shard hadn’t pushed her away due to time constraints, the highly adaptable young girl might have continued it again. However, she was already satisfied, at least for now. She sensed that the man in front of her did not reject her; she knew it wasn’t a mere one-sided wish.

"My aunt was right, at the round table for afternoon tea, one must reach out proactively, or else one gets nothing at all. So... Miss Violet, I’m sorry."

She bit her red lips as if they were about to bleed and hugged Shard’s neck, kissing him again on the side of his face:

"Looking forward to our next meeting."

Then she stepped aside, Shard touched his lips and then turned to Professor Ivins and Miss Maxim:

"It’s a pleasure meeting you. Once we leave together, the chances of meeting again are slim. Although once you leave here, some of your memories might be lost, if you remember me... it’s best not to talk about it."

The two witches naturally nodded in agreement, leaving only Miss Eles waiting to say goodbye to Shard. She, much like what Miss Teresa said, actually understood a lot, and upon seeing Shard looking at her, she immediately asked:

"Can you take me with you, to... the place you came from?"

Shard gently shook his head:

"Sorry."

Her eyes reddened almost immediately, but fortunately the deity, who had been silent, finally spoke:

"Her young soul is still unstable. If you can leave here, she will need to sleep for a long time to fully stabilize herself and freely roam the world. Time will empower her; she is both a ship and a dragon, and dragons are fascinating creatures: they accumulate and stabilize power through sleep."

Shard then understood, perhaps when the Church of the Sixth Era discovered the sunken ship in the deep sea, that would be the time when Miss Eles awakes from her slumber. From this calculation, when Shard saw her with a big hat at the ship museum in Moon Bay of the Sixth Era, she had only been awakened for a few hundred years.

"So I’ve uncovered all the truths?"

The blue-eyed girl once again grabs Shard’s arm and nestles against him, but facing the deity, she still quietly retreated behind Shard. Sitting at the edge of the floating board, the deity in the guise of a child nodded with a smile:

"Of course, the girl behind you has recognized her identity and remembered everything from her past. Her memories, combined with the clues you found, make the mortals’ conspiracy completely clear."

To know the whole story, you must discern "Miss Malone’s" identity. Therefore, there’s no possibility of Shard disregarding Miss Malone’s affairs; it’s the essential path to completing his task, and it’s also the path for the deity guarding childhood dreams to save this striving-to-live newborn "child."
