Chapter 2181: Chapter 2181: Repeated Verification and New Secret Potion
"Relax, I won’t forget about the banquet. Oh, and remember when we went to the pier last Sunday and encountered that thing in the alley that survived my Black Moon Insignia? I suspect it’s the vampire beast hatched from the female corpse. I want to investigate it. Do you have any leads?"
"Give me some time, I’ll do a divination for you. However, since the incident at the pier last weekend, that thing has been dormant for half a week without killing anyone again. If you want to investigate, you’ll probably have to wait a while."
After having lunch with Miss Belindel, Shard returned to his home in Tobesk. At home, there was only Mia, suggesting that Emilia must have really left town with Angelina.
It’s likely that Lecia is with them, so Shard isn’t worried. After preparing lunch for the kitten, he set off for Midshire Fort.
The Spatial Labyrinth’s exit in the Milestone Area is located at the Ruined Tower halfway up Sicarl Mountain. The scenery of Sicarl Mountain in summer is indeed different from other seasons. The unusual climate doesn’t seem to affect this mountainous city in the central continent much. The mountains painted in emerald green and the giant trees visible from the peaks are symbols of the abundant life in summer.
Midshire Fort City remains the same as always. After the big incident of life and death confusion ended last autumn, the city returned to its usual tranquility.
At the Cassandra Auction House, Miss Swift still greeted Shard upon arrival, and then he met Granny Cassandra along with Grace and Helen on the third floor.
The Red Butterfly Sisters accompanied Shard to the basement first to use the scribe level (Level 4) relic, the "Sorrowful Nurse Statue," to determine if Shard’s bloodline was still human or if he’d become a Dragonborn.
And this time, the evaluation results showed no difference from the last time:
"Sir, you’re still a purebred human, and you have no relation to dragons whatsoever."
This reassurance made Shard feel relieved; he was quite pleased with his human identity and had no desire for changes.
Grace and Helen had their own rooms at the Cassandra Auction House, particularly in the basement. Shard vividly remembered the room used to suppress themselves during lost control periods. This afternoon, the twins arranged their rare "date" spot there and instructed Miss Swift not to let anyone enter the basement before dinner.
The room and bed that once let the "gigantified" sisters rest had an irresistibly alluring honey-like scent after the fireplace was lit and the curtains around the great bed were raised. Grace and Helen pulled Shard into the room, and after the door closed, the flaxen-haired witch apprentice outside, about to turn away, saw a sealing ritual centered on "Red Butterfly" appear on the door surface, isolating the room completely, as if afraid someone might escape.
She pouted slightly, displeased with the twins’ actions, but still turned to leave. As for the inside of the room, the gentle girl, now combined into one, had already tackled Shard onto the bed.
No wind was blowing inside, yet the pink curtains still swayed slightly like flames. No one knew what happened inside the room, and after a few hours, Shard cradled the eighteen-year-old girl and whispered sweet words, while through the closeness, she already sensed Shard’s current situation.
"Sir, the Transformation Spell - Dragon is best not used frequently."
The gentle voice was very seductive:
"Your body is fascinating, seeming to possess an ability to absorb and assimilate stronger powers. We don’t know the source of this ability, but the piece of flesh you described as possibly ’Flesh of the God’ has been successfully assimilated by your body. The power of that flesh was too strong, causing your body to fracture and reconstruct into a dragon. Although you’ve managed to revert using an Elf Potion, if you change your body form into a dragon again, you will undoubtedly face the predicament of not being able to revert to human form."
"So, should this Arcane Technique not be used anymore?"
Shard asked, and the girl in his arms shook her head while actually rubbing her head against Shard’s neck:
"Of course not. If it’s necessary, it can still be used, but you must prepare in advance for how to transform back, or you’ll end up being a little cat for a long time. Elf Potions combined with Ever-Youth Leaf are effective, but even elves don’t stock many such potions. At most, that elf girl from the Moon Creek Clan might only provide you with two or three more bottles."
She tenderly continued:
"But the good news is, this situation won’t persist. Just as it took you a long time to fully digest the ’Earth Origin Twisted Land’ before, digesting this dragon flesh will also require time. Given that even the Earth Origin only took over half a month, adapting to this dragon power shouldn’t require more than a month."
Shard stroked her black hair:
"Then how do I judge that I’ve completely mastered the power to transform into a dragon? Will I know when I actively transform and feel I can change back at any time?"
The girl in his arms laughed and gently kissed Shard’s skin:
"It doesn’t need to be that complicated. Haven’t you found a Dragon Altar? If one day, the altar recognizes you as a dragon even without your glove gifted by Miss Fiona Drago, it means you’ve completely mastered the power."
She understood Shard’s concerns:
"Rest assured, absorbing the power of the Earth didn’t turn you into stone, so fully absorbing the dragon’s power won’t alter your bloodline either."
"So, am I really human?"
Shard asked a bit troubled, but the girl in his arms laughed and replied:
"If you were truly human, it wouldn’t be us begging for mercy just now, but you."
"Ladies don’t say such things."
"But it’s just us here, on the girl’s bed, saying anything is allowed, this rule applies to both the Fifth Era and the Sixth Era... Sir, would you like to stay for dinner?"
Actually, Shard originally planned to take advantage of the free afternoon to visit Mr. Edmund at Coldwater Port. But since the invitation was given, he certainly wouldn’t refuse:
"Although Mia is alone at home, the elf temporarily lodging at my place will take care of her."
"Really, sir, at times like this, don’t mention other girls. Besides, can that elf, no matter how young, appear younger than us?"
The person in his arms turned into two, and amidst Shard’s panicky "intervention," the two sisters each grabbed one of his arms and laughed lightly.
Of course, although Grace and Helen couldn’t help Shard digest the dragon’s power, they had some insights on how to adapt to the Transformation Spell. That afternoon they stayed with Shard in the basement room, and after dinner, they each held one of Shard’s hands as they went back upstairs. During dinner, they mentioned that there was a suitable "Red Butterfly Secret Potion" here that could replace the effect of the "Ever-Youth Leaf" when Shard consumed the "Elf Potion" again, preventing the waste of a leaf every time a transformation ended.
As for helping Shard adapt to the Transformation Spell without the "Elf Potion" with higher-level Red Butterfly Secret Potion, they certainly could prepare it, but it would take a long time, by then Shard would already have used the dragon’s power.
"Wait, how come you can produce magic potions immediately? Did you already know I would have problems?"
Shard was quite surprised, and Grace in a white dress calmly said:
"Because we’ve encountered your life information."
Helen then laughed as she embraced Shard’s left arm:
"This magic potion was originally to help you gain more Red Butterfly power, but the principles are the same. This potion is quite similar to the medication we prepared for you when you fell ill in the spring, thanks to Little Rita helping us produce it together, she can handle things on her own now. Watching each generation of witches grow up, time really flies."
The dining table was round, and although Helen looked young, when she spoke, she sounded old-fashioned, making her appearance particularly interesting.
The young girl with flaxen hair quickly nodded, and Granny Cassandra kindly smiled beside her:
"Rita is also about to advance to the Six Rings soon. Shard, I won’t personally go to Moon Bay for this event this time, why not send her and some people there to assist you?"
Shard, who was just reminiscing about the "Red Butterfly Secret Potion" making method, thought for a moment:
"Do you trust Rita?"
"The growth of a witch apprentice can’t be without experiencing danger, Rita, are you willing to go?"
The old witch asked her apprentice.
"Yes, teacher."
Of course, she still had to wait until the Council made unified arrangements before setting off for Moon Bay.
Before saying goodbye to Grace and Helen that night, Shard didn’t forget to ask about the "Sword of Light." The Red Butterfly Twins, who have been alive since the Mid-Fifth Era, knew many secrets of the past, even if many memories were lost, they could still help Shard.
And this time, facing this question, they indeed had an answer:
"During those years we lived briefly at Saint Byrons, not only did we learn a lot following Miss Feliana, but we also heard witches from the material world all over talking about various legend stories. Saint Byrons was newly founded at that time, and the witches willing to go there to learn mostly had their own stories. When we joined the student society ’Red Dragon Gem’ created by Miss Fiona Drago, we heard her mention a story she heard when she was young before leaving the Dragon Kingdom.
The general content of the story is: Before the old Dragon God departed, they forged a mighty sword capable of suppressing any dragon. Under that sword, any dragon is just the most fragile mortal, and swinging that sword can kill any dragon."
