Chapter 829: Chapter 826 Super-Super

After exiting the underground laboratory, Lucas led Mina outside.

"Master, are we heading to the military training grounds now?" Mina asked softly.

"Yes. Let’s go see how the research on the hundred-meter steamship is progressing," Lucas smiled.

The deadline Lucas had given was to have the ship built before this winter passed.

This was preparation for dealing with the First and Second Princes in the future. Moreover, it also involved the future transport of steel and supplies—all of which would rely on the hundred-meter transport ship.

After leaving the Research Department, the two of them boarded the carriage straight away and headed toward the military training zone. A steamship required a vessel for testing, and the Research Department didn’t have a large river.

Tap, tap, tap...

The carriage sped along. Under the escort of the war wolves squad, they quickly left Sedona City and moved toward the military control zone.

Inside the carriage, Lucas turned to look at Mina and said softly, "If you’re tired, you can sleep for a bit."

"Master, I’m not tired," Mina forced her eyes wide open.

Lucas had been busy in the study room until very late last night, and Mina had stayed by his side the whole time. Today, they had woken up early to inspect the gunpowder workshop, so it was inevitable she would be sleepy.

"Go to sleep," Lucas simply reached out, pulled Mina over, and affectionately let her rest her head on his lap.

With a smile in her eyes, Mina slowly closed them. It seemed that continuing like this would be quite nice.

"Slow down a bit," Lucas called out to the war wolves squad driving the carriage outside.

"Yes, my lord!" The members responded respectfully, slowing their speed slightly to make the carriage run more smoothly.

"Master, this is so nice," Mina murmured with her eyes closed, her lips curling up again. She reached out, wrapped her arms around Lucas’s waist, and snuggled closer.

"Sleep," Lucas combed his fingers through the cat-eared girl’s hair, closing his own eyes to rest.

Tap, tap, tap...

No matter how slow the carriage went, it would eventually reach its destination. Twenty minutes later, the carriage slowly came to a halt.

Lucas slowly opened his eyes. By this time, Mina was already awake as well. However, her face was a bit flushed, and she didn’t dare to look up at him.

"Hm?"

Lucas felt puzzled, but the next moment he noticed something was wrong. He silently looked down at the hem of his clothes and saw a wet patch.

"Mina, were you drooling just now?" Lucas looked at the cat-eared girl playfully.

"N-no, I wasn’t," Mina’s face grew even redder as she practically fled the carriage.

"Haha..." Lucas laughed heartily, driving away the slight tedium of their travels. He adjusted the hem of his clothes to perfectly cover the wet spot before stepping out of the carriage.

Seeing Lucas step down, Mina secretly sneaked a glance at his lap. Realizing the wet patch had been covered, she let out a sigh of relief, though the blush on her face lingered.

She herself hadn’t expected to actually drool after just a short nap, let alone right onto the Master’s lap. The thought made her face burn even hotter.

"Let’s go, Mina," Lucas said softly, his eyes seemingly, yet not seemingly, glancing at Mina’s red lips.

The cat-eared girl lowered her head and silently followed beside him.

Lucas didn’t tease her any further. He looked ahead, where a large number of soldiers had gathered. It seemed they were testing another new type of weapon.

Tap, tap, tap...

Lucas didn’t stop, leading Mina toward the river channel within the military training grounds.

A new dry dock had been established by the river. From a distance, it looked like a massive building, one hundred and fifty meters long and over twenty meters high. This was where the hundred-meter steamship was currently being researched and built.

The research and testing for the steamship had all been placed in this new dry dock. Otherwise, if the hundred-meter steamship were to be built at the Whispering River port, it would ultimately be a bit unsafe.

Therefore, the construction of the hundred-meter ship was carried out directly within this military control zone.

A wooden support platform had been built inside the dry dock. Once the ship was complete, one side of the wooden platform would simply be dismantled, allowing the ship to launch directly into the water.

"My Lord."

Cody and Durin, who were already waiting, bowed respectfully upon seeing Lucas.

"How is the research on the hundred-meter steamship progressing?" Lucas inquired.

"It’s proceeding very smoothly. It will be completed by the end of the year," Cody quickly answered.

"What about the ship? How is the construction going?" Lucas turned his head to look at Durin.

Cody was responsible for researching the steam engine component, while Durin was in charge of building the large ship itself.

"The main hull has already been completed. It will definitely be finished before winter," Durin quickly guaranteed.

"As long as we make it in time, it’s fine," Lucas nodded and said, "Come, take me to see it."

"My Lord, please follow me," Cody led the way.

Under Cody’s guidance, Lucas and Mina entered the dry dock and immediately saw the behemoth.

The overall shape had already taken form. The main framework structure of the ship was complete, and even half of the hull had been enclosed.

The entire ship, much like the fifty-meter steamship, had no sails or oars. Three large smokestacks, over two meters wide, were currently being built. One was already finished and undergoing final inspections.

Around the ship’s hull, rows of load-bearing scaffolding made of wood had been erected, with workers busily moving about on them.

"Wow, it’s so big!" Mina exclaimed, her blue eyes wide open. For someone like her who had never seen a hundred-meter-long ship, the visual impact was incredibly strong.

Lucas smiled and began inspecting the ship with Mina.

"Very good, not bad. But you must pay extra attention. Those connection points must be checked multiple times. I’d rather we go slower than produce something shoddy," Lucas circled the entire ship, feeling very satisfied, before speaking to Cody with a serious expression.

"Understood," Durin quickly replied. He knew the gravity of these matters. He certainly didn’t want any problems arising when the Lord rode this ship.

After all, there was no one else in the world more worthy of his service than Lucas.

If an accident were to befall Lucas, it would be a massive loss for Sedona City—something the citizens didn’t want to see, and something he would never allow to happen.

Therefore, the construction of this hundred-meter large ship was even more meticulous and rigorous than the fifty-meter steamship. Not a single error could be tolerated.

"Keep up the good work. The hundred-meter large ship is not our ultimate goal," Lucas patted Cody’s shoulder encouragingly.

"Yes, my lord!" Cody and Durin responded excitedly. Their admiration for Lucas reached unprecedented heights.

So, in the eyes of their Lord, the hundred-meter ship still wasn’t the biggest. However, they believed that under the City Lord’s leadership, nothing was impossible.

If he only knew how large Earth’s cruise ships and aircraft carriers were, he would probably be shocked into fainting on the spot.

In this era, the previous fifty-meter steamship was already a "boss-tier" vessel. When the hundred-meter steamship was built, it would truly be "super-super boss tier."

For a very long time to come, the Whispering River would belong to Lucas. No matter how hard others tried to catch up, they would never match the steamship. This was utter technological dominance.

And this period of dominance could very well last for twenty, or even fifty years.
