Chapter 309: The Sword Saint’s Warning(GT Bonus Chapter.)

Kael couldn’t help chuckling at the Sword Saint’s words.

"Not like you mind, huh?" He shook his head in amusement.

Considering how much effort the old man had put into convincing him to pursue the path of swordsmanship, Kael found that statement rather hard to believe.

Unfortunately, no matter how much he wanted to tease him about it, there wasn’t much point. The figure standing before him was only a recording.

Just then, the hologram of the Sword Saint continued.

"Anyway, that’s not really why I recorded this message."

Kael raised an eyebrow.

"Oh?"

The Sword Saint scratched his chin before continuing.

"I’m actually recording this to let you know that I probably won’t be available for some time."

Kael paused.

Won’t be available?

The old man continued before he could think much about it.

"A lot of things have happened recently, and after giving it some thought, I’ve decided it’s about time I attempted the final push into the next realm."

Hearing that, Kael’s expression changed slightly.

The next realm?

He naturally understood what the Sword Saint was referring to.

For someone who had already reached the old man’s level, advancing any further wasn’t something that could be accomplished simply by training a little harder or accumulating more energy.

It was a major breakthrough.

And considering the Sword Saint’s current strength, successfully entering the next realm would undoubtedly be an extraordinary achievement.

The Sword Saint continued.

"Now, I don’t know exactly how long this will take. It could be a few days, a few weeks, or perhaps even longer."

He shrugged.

"There’s really no way to tell until I begin."

Kael nodded unconsciously. For the Sword Saint to break through to the next realm, he needed to comprehend a law, and Kael understood well enough that something like that wasn’t the kind of thing you could put a timer on or predict the end of.

"Anyway, I just thought I should let you know," the Sword Saint continued. "That’s all."

Kael smiled faintly.

Despite the old man’s usual attitude, he had apparently considered it important enough to inform him before disappearing into seclusion.

However, just as Kael thought the recording was about to end, the Sword Saint fell silent. A serious expression settled over his face, and for a moment he said nothing. Then he finally spoke.

"There’s one more thing."

His voice was noticeably different now.

"Recently, I heard that you’ve been getting rather close to that kid Jonas."

Kael blinked. "Jonas?"

For a moment, he wondered if he’d heard correctly.

Is he talking about Vice President Jonas?

That seemed like the most reasonable explanation. After all, he was the only person by that name Kael had been associating with recently. Still, hearing the Sword Saint refer to the Vice President of the Hunter Association as "kid" was rather amusing.

Although, considering the old man’s age and status, perhaps it wasn’t particularly strange.

However, before Kael could dwell on that thought, the Sword Saint continued.

"Listen carefully, brat."

Kael’s expression became serious.

"I don’t know what kind of relationship you’re developing with the Association, and frankly, I don’t particularly care."

The old man paused.

"But I’d advise you to be cautious around them."

Kael furrowed his brows.

The Association?

The Sword Saint’s expression darkened slightly.

"Especially that mysterious fellow behind it."

Kael froze.

The person behind the Association?

He stared at the hologram, suddenly paying far closer attention. What exactly did the Sword Saint mean by that?

Unfortunately, he couldn’t ask the hologram anything, and could only wait for it to continue playing.

The old man went on. "I’m not entirely sure where that fellow came from, or what his true origins are."

He narrowed his eyes.

"But there’s something about him that doesn’t sit right with me."

The Sword Saint shook his head.

"Whatever the case, I don’t think anything good will come from getting too deeply involved with that fellow."

His gaze seemed to settle directly on Kael.

"So be careful."

And with those final words, the hologram suddenly began to fade.

"Wait..."

Kael instinctively reached forward.

However, before he could say anything else, the Sword Saint’s figure dissolved into countless tiny motes of light.

The particles drifted through the air for a brief moment before vanishing completely.

Just like that, the recording ended.

Kael remained standing there, staring at the empty space where the projection had been.

"..."

Several seconds passed before his lips twitched.

"That old fogey!"

He couldn’t help feeling irritated.

What kind of warning was that?

"At least give me something useful to work with!"

Kael shook his head in frustration.

He understood that the Sword Saint probably wouldn’t have issued such a warning without a good reason.

Someone of the old man’s strength and experience wasn’t likely to become suspicious of another person over something trivial.

But that only made the lack of information even more annoying.

If the person behind the Association was dangerous enough to concern the Sword Saint, then surely Kael deserved to know a little more about him.

For a moment, Kael seriously considered heading straight to the Sword Saint’s mansion and demanding an explanation.

After all, it wasn’t as though he had been forbidden from visiting.

However, after thinking about it for a while, he eventually abandoned the idea.

There was no guarantee the Sword Saint was still available.

For all Kael knew, the old man might have already entered seclusion to prepare for his breakthrough.

And even if he managed to find him, there was no guarantee he would receive a more detailed explanation.

Besides, Kael had no intention of allowing a vague warning to interfere with everything he had planned.

"Whatever."

He sighed.

At least he knew there was something about the Association worth being cautious of, even for someone at the Sword Saint’s level. That was better than knowing nothing at all.

As for the mysterious figure the Sword Saint had mentioned, whom Kael suspected to be the mysterious Association President, he could look into the matter later, whenever an opportunity presented itself.

For now, there was little point worrying about someone whose identity he didn’t even know. With that thought, Kael turned his attention back to the katana.

Despite the rather irritating conclusion to the recording, he still appreciated the gift.

"Thanks, old man."

A faint smile appeared on his face.

He then returned the sword to its box, closed the lid, and stored it in his Inventory.

Once that was done, Kael looked around his room.

"Well, I guess there’s nothing else to do tonight."

He stretched his arms above his head before letting out a long yawn.

The day had been surprisingly exhausting.

Between entertaining guests, discussing business with Vice President Jonas, and now receiving an unexpected warning from the Sword Saint, he felt as though his mind had barely been given a moment to rest.

Fortunately, everything that needed his attention could wait until tomorrow.

Kael walked over to his bed and lay down.

"Finally..."

He adjusted his pillow and settled into a comfortable position. It had been a long day, and right now, all he wanted was a good night’s sleep.

With that thought, Kael closed his eyes. It didn’t take long before his breathing slowed and steadied, and soon, he’d drifted into a deep slumber.
