Chapter 308: The Sword Saint’s Gift [2](GT Bonus Chapter.)

With that thought, Kael reached into the box and carefully lifted the katana out. The moment his fingers wrapped around the hilt, he noticed how comfortable it felt.

The grip fit naturally in his hand, and the weapon’s weight was distributed in a way that made it surprisingly easy to control.

Kael raised the sword slightly, examining the polished blade from different angles.

"Not bad."

He adjusted his grip before giving it a few experimental swings.

Swish! Swish!

The blade cut smoothly through the air.

Kael moved it from one side to another, testing how it responded to changes in direction and how much effort was required to control its movements.

Despite not being particularly accustomed to using a katana, he found the weapon remarkably comfortable.

Its balance was excellent, and the movements felt natural in his hands.

"Quite a good sword indeed."

After testing it for a little longer, Kael suddenly had an idea.

He wondered how the weapon would react if he infused it with Mana.

Most magical weapons possessed some form of reaction to their wielder’s energy, and considering this sword’s unusual abilities, he was curious about what would happen.

With that thought, Kael slowly began channeling Mana into the blade.

However, the moment his energy entered the weapon, something unexpected happened.

Whoosh!

Kael’s expression changed.

A strange sensation suddenly swept through his body.

For a brief instant, he felt as though his entire presence had transformed.

His mind filled with an overwhelming urge to advance, to charge forward and crush whatever stood in his path.

It was a violent, almost oppressive feeling, like a raging bull gathering momentum before charging at its enemy, determined to smash through everything before it.

A fierce determination swelled within him, one that refused to retreat, mixed with a violent fighting spirit that demanded he press forward no matter what stood in his way.

And the longer he maintained the Mana connection, the stronger that feeling grew.

Kael’s brows furrowed.

What the hell?

Without wasting another moment, he immediately cut off the flow of Mana.

The effect was almost instantaneous.

As soon as his energy stopped entering the sword, the strange sensation faded, and his mind returned to its usual calm state.

Kael stood quietly for a moment, looking down at the weapon in his hand.

"Such a violent sword..."

He hadn’t expected something like that to happen.

The sword’s description hadn’t mentioned anything about influencing its wielder’s fighting spirit, yet the moment he infused Mana into it, he had felt an overwhelming desire to charge into battle.

After thinking about it for a moment, Kael began to suspect the cause.

Could it be the legacies stored within the blade?

That seemed like the most reasonable explanation.

After all, the sword possessed the accumulated sword styles and combat instincts of its previous wielders.

If those instincts were somehow reacting to his Mana, then it wouldn’t be surprising for him to experience something unusual.

Perhaps the violent sensation he had just felt was a remnant of one of those previous wielders.

Or perhaps it was the combined fighting spirit of several of them.

Whatever the case, it was certainly interesting.

Kael looked at the katana again.

"Not bad at all."

Although the sudden change in his aura had caught him off guard, he didn’t consider it a serious problem.

If anything, it made him even more curious about what else the weapon could do.

He was just about to examine it further when something inside the box caught his attention.

"Hm?"

Kael paused.

There was another item resting near the bottom of the box.

It was a small, round crystal with a deep sapphire color.

Unlike the sword, which had occupied most of his attention, the crystal had been tucked away in a corner, making it easy to overlook.

However, Kael recognized it almost immediately.

"A recording crystal?"

He raised an eyebrow.

"What is a recording crystal doing here?"

Recording crystals weren’t particularly uncommon among Hunters.

They were magical devices capable of storing information, usually in the form of images, sounds, or recorded messages.

Depending on their quality, some could even reproduce remarkably lifelike projections.

Still, Kael hadn’t expected to find one accompanying the Sword Saint’s gift.

Curious, he carefully returned the katana to its box before reaching for the crystal.

He lifted the sapphire orb and examined it for a moment.

Its surface was smooth and slightly cool to the touch, while faint traces of Mana could be felt circulating within it.

There didn’t seem to be anything particularly unusual about its appearance.

After studying it briefly, Kael decided there was no point wasting time guessing what it contained.

He simply needed to activate it.

With that thought, Kael channeled a small amount of Mana into the crystal. The moment his energy entered it, the sapphire orb reacted, a faint pulse spreading across its surface as it absorbed a portion of his Mana.

He could feel something within it examining the energy he’d provided, almost as though verifying his identity. After a brief moment, the verification seemed to finish. The crystal emitted a soft blue glow, and then thin cracks began spreading across its surface.

Crack! Crack!

Kael watched as the cracks multiplied, covering the entire orb within seconds. Before he could react, the crystal burst apart.

Flash!

A brilliant light erupted from it, forcing him to narrow his eyes. But the light didn’t scatter randomly, it gathered in the air before him, gradually taking shape.

First came the outline of a human figure, then the details followed, clothing, facial features, hair, even the subtle expressions on the person’s face.

Within moments, a complete figure stood before Kael.

And it was someone he recognized immediately.

The Sword Saint?

Kael blinked, staring at the lifelike projection standing before him. From the way the clothes rested against his frame to the expression on his face, almost everything about it looked real. If he hadn’t known he was dealing with a recording crystal, he might have mistaken it for the Sword Saint actually standing in his room.

But he knew that wasn’t the case. This was simply a recorded message. Still, he had to admit the quality of the projection was impressive.

Kael studied the figure curiously, wondering what the old man had gone through the trouble of recording.

Just then, the projection stirred. The Sword Saint’s holographic figure shifted slightly, turning its head toward Kael, his expression as familiar as ever.

Then he opened his mouth.

"Hey there, brat."

Kael’s lips twitched.

Of course. That’s the first thing he says.

The Sword Saint continued.

"If you’re seeing this, then I guess you’ve already received my gift." He gave a satisfied nod. "Good, good."

The old man paused briefly, then waved his hand dismissively.

"Anyway, whether you decide to use it or not is entirely up to you." He shrugged. "Not like I mind."
