SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God
Chapter 797: My liege...
Damon opened his system screen and opened up an option that he hadn’t touched for a long time now, something that he had been saving for exactly a situation like this, an impossible one.
[Ding! You have used your Legendary Skill Roll.]
A brilliant golden roulette instantly materialized before Damon, countless ancient runes spinning around it as millions upon millions of possible skills flashed by faster than the eye could follow.
Damon was still unsure if this desperate gamble would actually work, but at this point, he was prepared to throw absolutely everything he had at the unfolding catastrophe.
While his avatars continued inhaling both mana and abyssal energy at a terrifying rate, desperately slowing the corruption spreading across Earth, Damon focused every ounce of his attention on the spinning wheel before him.
His heart pounded. "Come on... Anything. Just give me something that can change this situation."
The roulette accelerated. Near him, La Rocha was shouting something about time running out and the last of the barriers collapsing. "That witch really didn’t help you? Nasty piece of work. She should have stopped this..." He had many things to say about the fairy.
Damon ignored his rant and focused. Now the wheel in front of him slowed down.
Legendary Skill — Absolute Regeneration.
Skipped.
Legendary Skill — Void Step.
Skipped.
Legendary Skill — Soul Monarch’s Eye.
Skipped.
...
...
...
It continued skipping and skipping before finally dangling between three options. Though it looked like he was using this as a last-ditch effort, there were specific reasons Damon was confident this would work.
The first being his high luck factor. The second being what he had learned about this legendary skill roll option from his past life. The person who had obtained this had strongly advised to use it only when the situation called for.
Damon did not remember the name of that person anymore but he was one of the players who accidentally stumbled into the reward and had tried to use it to rise to fame. Unfortunately that never panned out. Now that person’s misery was working for Damon.
Thanks to him explaining many things in order to get attention, Damon knew some things about the skill roll. For example, if Damon had used this skill roll while he was forging a weapon, it was highly likely for the skill to be something related to forging. If he had used this skill roll while he was in a demonic domain, the skill would have been something related to that.
And now just like he expected the three options in front of him were related to abyssal energy. However, they were definitely not the ones he was expecting.
Damon frowned as he stared at them.
The three golden cards hovered before him, each radiating an ancient aura that made even the surrounding abyssal energy recoil instinctively.
Legendary Skill — Abyssal Vessel
Become a perfect vessel for abyssal energy. All abyssal corruption is permanently nullified. Abyssal affinity is greatly increased.
Legendary Skill — Abyssal Sovereign
Suppress and command abyssal creatures below your rank. Greatly increases resistance against abyssal authorities.
Legendary Skill — Abyssal Heart
Fuse your heart with an abyssal core. Greatly enhances vitality, regeneration, and affinity with abyssal energy.
"That’s it?" None of them was bad. In fact... Any one of them would be an unbelievable skill capable of driving the entire cosmos into madness.
But... None of them solved his current predicament.
Even if he mastered abyssal energy... He still couldn’t defeat the gods. He still couldn’t stop an A-rank monster. He still couldn’t protect Earth. His eyebrows knitted together.
"My liege..." Blood Reign worriedly called out. Even she was all out of answers this time around. It looked like they were about to face Gods after all. A mere B rank standing in front of a God...
Damon let out a maniacal laugh. Then he slowly lifted his head toward the heavens where one terrifying aura after another was descending upon Earth.
In the end... It had all come to this.
He had bled. He had suffered. He had sacrificed everything he could. He had walked a path that no sane person would have dared to tread. Poison, blood, death, betrayal, endless battles... he had overcome them all. He had planned every step carefully. He had prepared backup plans for his backup plans. He had calculated every possible move several steps in advance.
Yet none of it mattered. Before absolute power...
Schemes were meaningless. Preparation was meaningless. None of what he did mattered. A single God could erase everything he had built with nothing more than a wave of a hand.
"So this is it, huh..." Damon muttered softly. His laughter gradually faded. "In the end... power crushes everything." He looked down and clenched his fists. He too had power. He had one last gamble left in him.
His bloodline!
Without hesitation, Damon started taking out one weird monstrosity after another that he had stored in his soul space. There was no point in hesitating anymore. His world was collapsing. Gods were descending, and he and everyone else were fucked to all eternity. So why the fuck did he still have to worry about his bloodline?
If other Gods wanted to target him for his bloodline, then so be it!
If he ends up becoming a mindless monster because of his bloodline, then even better. Maybe he would become mindless enough to actually fuck up these Gods at least a little before they slaughter him, destroy the world, and everything else.
Damon roared in defiance! This was the end, but he was not willing to accept it. He needed more. More. Just more.
Massive amounts of abyssal energy and mana crashed into him as he started devouring one beast after another, one monster after another, every single being he had captured in his soul space.
Countless bloodline fragments exploded apart before being swallowed whole. The impurities were stripped away. The strengths remained.
His body convulsed violently as his entire body was covered in dark black veins. Bones shattered and reformed. His muscles tore apart only to regenerate denser than before.
His blood boiled. His heart pounded like a war drum. His Primordial Mana Core spun faster and faster until it became impossible to distinguish its rotation. His incomplete Dao Core drank greedily alongside it.
Boom!
A terrifying shockwave erupted from Damon.
La Rocha’s expression slowly changed. "What is this lunatic doing?"
Blood Reign’s eyes sparkled. "My liege..." She could feel it. Something fundamental was changing.
Damon continued devouring without restraint.
One hundred beasts.
Two hundred.
Three hundred.
His entire soul space rapidly emptied.
Everything he had painstakingly collected vanished within seconds. As an unexpected bonus, the blasphemous amounts of abyssal energy and mana pouring into him acted as a perfect catalyst for the unawakened bloodline fragments.
One by one, the sleeping bloodline fragments awakened like furious dragons in the midst of the overwhelming abyssal force.
Damon had become the eye of a monstrous storm.
A tornado of abyssal energy and mana engulfed him, stretching thousands of meters into the sky. The abyssal energy dominated everything it touched, threatening to drown every other source of power.
But the bloodline fragments refused to submit. Each fragment erupted with its own will. But how could a mere B-rank body handle something like that? How could a weak soul withstand such a tremendous amount of stress?
Damon’s entire being was headed straight to utter annihilation. There was no stopping it now.
Blood Reign’s crimson silhouette appeared beside Damon without being summoned. A jade-red flute materialized in her slender hand. Without saying a word, she raised it to her lips. A single mournful note drifted into the storm.
It was soft. Almost inaudible beneath the deafening roar of abyssal energy. Yet the instant it sounded, every bloodline fragment raging inside Damon paused ever so slightly.
The melody continued. It wasn’t an attack. Nor was it a technique Damon had ever seen her use before. It was... a lullaby.
The same lullaby she had once vaguely remembered hearing long ago, before becoming the Blood Spirit that wandered countless battlefields.
As the melody echoed through Damon’s body, the countless bloodline fragments that had been trying to tear him apart became strangely calmer. They became ever so slightly less chaotic.
However, Blood Reign’s face rapidly grew paler. Each note she played caused cracks to spread across her crimson body. "My liege..." She continued playing. "Please... allow me to help you one last time."
A smile appeared on her face even as she gradually faded into crimson specs of light. Her soul gently mixed in with Damon’s healing whatever it could here and there. Even that was not enough. More cracks appeared and they became bigger and bigger. The entire soul trembled violently.
Damon flashed his eyes open. Rage, helplessness and utter madness roared within them.
La Rocha observed the whole thing indifferently and then shook his head with a small sigh. "It’s over." He said with a shrug.
The next instant, the raging abyssal energy surrounding them suddenly recoiled as brilliant rays of divine light descended upon the almost broken world.
One...
Three...
Ten...
Dozens.
Every pillar of divine radiance pierced through the heavens like judgment itself, illuminating the entire planet. The pressure alone caused mountains to collapse. The oceans boiled. Every awakened being on Earth instinctively fell to their knees. It wasn’t because they wanted to. Their bodies simply refused to remain standing.
"The Gods..." La Rocha muttered quietly. "They’ve arrived."
Within each pillar, a vague silhouette slowly emerged. One wielded a simple spear. Another was surrounded by a blazing sun. One carried countless chains wrapped around his body. Another possessed six wings woven entirely from divine flames.
None of them had fully descended yet. Merely allowing a fraction of their presence to enter the world was enough to make the reality tremble.
