Chapter 1358: Chapter 1334: I Am the Victim
At midnight, the sky drizzled incessantly, and a black silhouette seemed impervious to the rain’s attack as it swiftly crossed the lawn and entered a two-story building.
On the bed, a very beautiful woman tossed and turned, her curly hair spread out on the pillow, her upturned eyelashes fluttered like two fans, her brows occasionally furrowed, and faint murmurs escaped from her lips.
The woman appeared to be sleeping extremely restlessly. The silhouette entered from the window and slowly approached her side, his drenched body still dripping water, soaking a large patch of carpet, with water stains beginning to spread from beneath his feet towards the door.
In the dim light, the silhouette gazed at the woman on the bed, with indescribable emotions evident in his dark eyes. Or perhaps he simply watched without any emotion, as the man lifted his clothing, revealing his solid muscles, and quietly bent down.
The woman suddenly awoke at this moment, she stared at the approaching silhouette, and her voice seemed to lose its function; no scream of terror emerged from her throat. Instead, her whole body shrank back, leaning against the headboard.
Yet, intriguingly, the expression in the woman’s eyes upon seeing the silhouette was not one of fear and dread, but rather surprise and expectation. Her rosy lips slowly curved upward, as if smiling, yet also puzzled—a quite remarkable expression.
The silhouette kneeled with one foot on the bed, his hands supporting on either side of the woman, leaning forward to stretch his slender form, simultaneously extending his muscular outline into harmonious lines of force.
Suddenly, the woman thrust a foot against the man’s shoulder, with a smile playing at the corners of her mouth.
"You knew I would come?" The man grasped the woman’s ankle with one hand, hanging it over his shoulder, raising his upper body, transforming their posture into one of extreme intimacy.
"I didn’t know, I just remember your scent. So your sudden intrusion does not frighten me, it only makes me feel at ease, Young Master Xiao."
Xiao Lin smirked, staring mischievously at the woman on the bed. "Since that’s the case, let’s have a good chat, Miss Murong."
"Does Young Master Xiao intend to continue conversing in this position?" In the darkness, Murong Lengyue appeared to possess a unique beauty.
Xiao Lin released Murong Lengyue, got off the bed, removed his trousers, all with such natural ease, not feeling the slightest awkwardness in front of an unfamiliar woman.
"You..." Murong Lengyue, despite her front of being a mature and open woman, was still shocked by Xiao Lin’s bold act when he removed his trousers, her face unknowingly turning red, her breath becoming rapid.
Beneath the trousers were long legs, Murong Lengyue’s gaze unintentionally fell on the area between Xiao Lin’s legs, perfectly wrapped, which made her heart race even faster.
"Young Master Xiao, isn’t this, isn’t this inappropriate?"
The atmosphere turned ghostly, Murong Lengyue coughed lightly, trying to disperse the heated air in the room, yet Xiao Lin did not comply with Murong Lengyue’s thoughts, instead jumping directly onto the bed, lying beside her.
"Shh, be quiet." Xiao Lin slipped under the covers, turned to face Murong Lengyue, his dark eyes still devoid of emotion. "Sleep!"
Murong Lengyue stayed frozen on the spot; she couldn’t understand what game Xiao Lin was playing, watching him close his eyes, truly entering a state of sleep, experiencing a sense of temporal confusion.
As the morning sunlight poured through the roof, falling on the large bed, Xiao Lin was already awake. He laughed softly upon noticing Murong Lengyue maintaining a stiff posture, sleeping beside him.
"Did I make it so difficult for you to sleep?"
Murong Lengyue dared not turn around to look at Xiao Lin, her voice husky and low, sounding exceptionally sensual. "If you stay up all night, can you guarantee our conversation will be effective? I’ve spent a lot of time and effort to find you, and I don’t want this trip to be in vain because of you."
Murong Lengyue blinked, donning a nightgown. Against the light, it cast shadows on her figure. Xiao Lin was a normal man, it would be impossible not to be moved by such a woman. Even without considering Murong Lengyue’s identity, from a woman’s perspective, she was quite captivating.
"Please allow me an hour, Young Master Xiao. If you go out and turn right, there will be another dedicated bath where you can clean up," Murong Lengyue said calmly.
"Why not share one?" Xiao Lin queried flippantly.
"I don’t mind; if Young Master Xiao has the courage for that, I’ll be waiting anytime."
Stalemated once, Xiao Lin chuckled.
An hour later, led by a servant, Xiao Lin arrived at a study room where Murong Lengyue was already neatly settled on the sofa, with snacks and cakes placed on the round table.
"Young Master Xiao, having traveled far to find me, is it about Quan Mingyuan?" Murong Lengyue glanced at Xiao Lin, directly steering the topic to the point. "I don’t like beating around the bush, also to ensure Young Master Xiao doesn’t waste this trip."
"Miss Murong has deceived everyone and hidden here, which makes me curious whether the reason is to avoid the police or to avoid Quan Xianglin."
"Young Master Xiao, do you think in such circumstances I should speak the truth or falsehood?" Murong Lengyue retorted. "In this whole charade, I am the one who suffers, thrust into the feud between your two families. Shouldn’t I deserve a reasonable explanation and apology?" Murong Lengyue seemed quite agitated.
Xiao Lin sneered, at this moment, any expression from Murong Lengyue seemed like an act to him. If not for Lian’s constant admonitions, he felt he wouldn’t be standing here.
"I didn’t come here to make you lie, but to find Xun Xiangxiang." He tapped his fingers rhythmically on the table.
Murong Lengyue’s hand trembled slightly, spilling coffee onto the tabletop. "Xun Xiangxiang? I don’t know this person."
"Those words were within my expectations." Xiao Lin continued to sneer. "Murong Lengyue, how long do you plan to continue this? Towards Xia Xue, I can give you leniency, but this time you’ve killed someone who is not easy to stir."
Xiao Lin’s words once again left Murong stunned. "Young Master Xiao, if you’re trying to make me fake a testimony with this charge, then I must express my disappointment in you."
"A false testimony? The person who killed Quan Mingyuan wasn’t me." Xiao Lin spoke the fact, which made him feel even more that Lian’s plan here was somewhat redundant.
"Oh, yes, you didn’t personally kill Quan Mingyuan, but I can also prove it was you who killed him." For the first time, Murong Lengyue showed a hint of cunning before Xiao Lin, which lies somewhere between that of a merchant and a villain. (To be continued.
