Chapter 1313: Chapter 1290: 33 Left Hands

Quan Mingyuan thought for a moment and put down the gun in his hand, just as the roof suddenly gave way. The debris from the brick wall fell like a blanket, breaking the entire big bed into two pieces. If the two of them were still on the bed just now, they would undoubtedly have been squashed into mincemeat.

The woman, terrified, grabbed Quan Mingyuan’s arm tightly, her long nails digging into his flesh. As the dust settled, a large box slowly descended from the gaping hole in the ceiling.

Quan Mingyuan protected the woman and retreated several steps back, leaning against the wall. The box landed on the rubble and then went still, the loud noise having already attracted the police and the hotel’s security. They called out from outside the door. After all, with the roof collapsing and considering important people were involved, any complications arising weren’t something as simple as ordinary civilians being harmed.

"Go open the door." Quan Mingyuan raised his gun once more, slowly approaching the collapsed bed. Suddenly, he looked up, aiming the muzzle at the hole above where he met a pair of dark eyes, half a face hidden under a black cloth, revealing only deep black pupils.

Bam! Quan Mingyuan fired a shot at that face without hesitation. Startled by the noise, the woman turned back to look at him fearfully, her hand not pausing as she opened the door.

The police outside also heard the gunfire and rushed in with their guns drawn.

There were only two people in the room, a woman and a man. The man was firing at the ceiling continuously with a terrifyingly menacing face. The policemen exchanged glances and two of them leapt forward and wrested the gun from Quan Mingyuan’s hand. They dared not be too forceful, and yet he managed to knock each of them to the ground with a punch. "The person is still on the 22nd floor, why are you standing here stupidly, go chase!"

The leading police officer waved at the officers struggling up beside him, and together with the hotel’s security, two of them ran towards the 22nd floor. "Young Master Quan, are you alright?" Quan Mingyuan glanced at them and nodded. "When you fired just now, did you get a clear look at the other person?"

The police also spotted the large box on the bed, and upon hearing further gunshots from upstairs, immediately called for reinforcements. Quan Mingyuan did not answer the police’s question, placing a hand on the box.

Xiao Lin caused such a commotion just for this? Remembering the knocking sound just now, Quan Mingyuan became even more suspicious of the box’s contents.

"Young Master Quan, have you offended anyone recently?" Within minutes, reinforcements arrived and cordoned off the scene with police tape, but when faced with the large box, they seemed at a loss.

Quan Mingyuan was escorted to the perimeter. After photographing the scene, some officers began to dismantle the box. The box was sturdier than expected. Even after specialized tools were brought in, it took prying out the nails to loosen the lid. In a surprising twist, a smaller metal box was nested inside.

Four officers carried the box onto the carpet. The old military metal box was opened in Quan Mingyuan’s line of sight. The unlocked box, once its lid flipped, released a putrid stench of decomposing cadavers, rapidly filling the room like boiling locusts.

The officers closest to the box knelt instantly, retching at the sight. Quan Mingyuan tried to move closer for a look but was blocked by a police officer on the side. "Let go!" Quan Mingyuan said in a deep voice, stepping closer to the metal box.

Inside the metal box were heaps of hands and a mass of items already turning black, the stench overwhelming. He kicked the metal box, and the body parts rolled out, scattering all over the room.

Thirty-three left hands, thirty-three carved-out hearts, thirty-three people!

The sight was shocking; the numbers were shocking!

Quan Mingyuan stared intently at the left hands and hearts on the floor, his teeth grinding, eyes bloodshot. The police dared not approach; no one would have thought this was merely an assassination attempt. Everyone wondered just who this important person had offended to receive such a brutal warning!
