Chapter 1309: Chapter 1286: The Hostage Delivered to Our Door
Xiao Zhenfeng smoked a cigarette while listening to Uncle Qin’s report. His narrowed eyes revealed no change, especially when Uncle Qin mentioned Xiao Lin; his eyes almost turned into a line.
"Did he really say that?" After a long pause, Xiao Zhenfeng spat out a few words. Uncle Qin had handed him the Dragon Soul Badge ID; everyone wanted to get their hands on this thing, yet that kid just gave it up. "Xiao Ya!" Xiao Zhenfeng silently recited this name, while Uncle Qin stood by without saying a word. "Go call Xiao Mu over."
Uncle Qin slightly raised his head—shouldn’t he be solving Xiao Lin’s rebellious mindset right now? But Xiao Zhenfeng’s attitude was as if nothing happened. "Master, the young master he..."
"Go find Xiao Mu."
"Yes!"
Just as Uncle Qin was about to turn and leave, Xiao Mu had already pushed a large box from outside into the room. Xiao Zhenfeng opened his eyes and stared at the wooden box, then looked at Xiao Mu, and Uncle Qin had already withdrawn.
"Don’t glare at me; someone left it at the front door."
"You just pushed it in like that?" Xiao Zhenfeng tapped the table. This kind of glaring loophole made him frown with dissatisfaction.
Xiao Mu shrugged indifferently, still holding a hammer in his hand. "You don’t have to ask me like that. The routine might work on Xiao Lin, but not on me. However, Xiao Lin was right about one thing—you using Xiao Ya as an excuse was a mistake." After finishing, he swung the hammer down, causing the wood to splinter, and a second swing created a large hole.
"It’s a person!" Xiao Mu tore away the broken planks with his hands. Despite the darkness inside the box, the outline of a curled-up person could be seen.
Xiao Mu glanced at Xiao Zhenfeng, silently summoned his strength, and grabbed the person’s wrist, dragging him out. With a scream, perhaps the meat was scratched by the shattered wood during the dragging, the man let out a big scream and woke up.
"Shao Weihua!" Xiao Mu looked surprised at the man on the ground, his face full of dirt, his hair a mess like a bird’s nest, without visible injuries but very dirty.
Upon hearing his name called, Shao Weihua was stunned for a moment before looking up at the person above him. The bright light forced him to shield his eyes with his hand; this was an unfamiliar place.
The moment Xiao Zhenfeng saw Shao Weihua, he understood. He stood up. Xiao Lin’s words were not to be retracted; he told his principles and decisions through actions. "Book a ticket for Xiao Ya, as soon as possible."
Shao Weihua recognized Xiao Zhenfeng, instinctively drawing his shoulders in when facing this man, even without dialogue, being stared at like that gave a feeling of being hunted.
"Shao! Wei! Hua! How should I make good use of you?"
Shao Weihua’s heart fluttered; he felt even his lips trembling. "You can’t kill me!"
"That depends on what you can use to exchange for your life," Xiao Zhenfeng smiled insidiously, sending a chill down one’s spine. "However, whether to keep you or not makes no difference to me. You’re a discarded card by that old fox Quan Xianglin; holding onto you is of no use. Although you know quite a bit, it also gives me a reason to kill you."
"No, that’s impossible!" Shao Weihua couldn’t help but shout. He had followed Quan Xianglin for so long; it wouldn’t end like this. "Xiao Zhenfeng, you don’t have to sow discord between me and Chairman Quan in front of me. I don’t buy it. I’m in the hands of your Xiao Family today, deal with me however you like, but it’s impossible to make me betray Chairman Quan."
Xiao Zhenfeng stepped forward, looking down at Shao Weihua, pulling him up from the ground. "Then let me see how loyal you really are. Take him away."
Shao Weihua, with frightened eyes, was dragged and pulled out the door; compared to this, Xiao Lin’s treatment was much better.
"What do we do next?" Xiao Mu, who had been standing coldly at the side, asked. Was calling Xiao Ya over an acknowledgment of Xiao Lin’s actions? No, Xiao Zhenfeng would never concede like that. "With Shao Weihua in our hands, if we don’t play this card well, it’s just seeking misfortune."
"Do you really think Xiao Lin handed him over to us to threaten Quan Xianglin?" Xiao Zhenfeng lit a cigar. "Xiao Mu, you’re ruthless, clever, and slick, but compared to Xiao Lin, there’s still a difference; that’s also one reason you can’t take the position."
Xiao Mu’s mouth pulled in a faint smirk; the old man seemed to enjoy comparing the two brothers, playing this game enthusiastically for over a decade. "I have no interest in the position within the Xiao Family."
Xiao Zhenfeng chuckled a few times. "Shao Weihua is merely a shadow; Xiao Lin’s target is Shao Qin Yi behind him. Quan Mingyuan won’t compromise for a Shao Weihua. Shao Weihua just exists to ignite conflict between those two. Lock him up for a few days, spread some false information, and someone will naturally take care of Shao Weihua for us."
Indeed, given their status, it wouldn’t be appropriate to kill Shao Weihua themselves. Xiao Lin’s plans reached much further than his own; Xiao Mu’s eyes dimmed. "Xiao Ya, how do you intend to arrange things?"
"This person is of no great use against Quan Xianglin, but he’s an enticing bait for Mu Rongyun. Recently, that person has been lying low—it’s time to lure him out."
"But Quan Mingyuan alone is enough for Xiao Lin to deal with. Adding Mu Rongyun to the mix might..."
"Since Quan Xianglin wants to make this his final stop, it’s time we show some sincerity." Xiao Zhenfeng tapped his fingers on the table; the Dharma Seal was placed right in front of him.
The next day at noon, a plane from California, United States, landed smoothly at Palermo Airport. Xiao Ya, carrying a bag, walked out of the airport and saw Uncle Qin standing by a car waving at him from afar. After hesitating, he stopped a taxi and hurriedly left.
Uncle Qin watched the taxi leave the airport, then got into the car. This outcome was within Xiao Zhenfeng’s expectations. This was Palermo, where Xiao Ya’s every action couldn’t be completely controlled by them. After reporting the situation to Xiao Zhenfeng, Uncle Qin called Xiao Lin, informing him that Xiao Ya had entered the country but hadn’t gone to the Xiao Family’s temporary residence.
Xiao Lin hung up the phone, and news came from Meisai. Traces were found in the vicinity of the hall, along with accompanying photos. The size of the footprints and sole marks matched those of the Magician, heightening suspicion. "Lao Jiu, can we contact the Magician?"
"I’ll try!" Lao Jiu paused, then asked, "If it really was the Magician, you..."
"My intuition tells me it’s not him," Xiao Lin said with certainty. (To be continued... If you like this work, feel free to vote for recommendations and monthly tickets at Qidian (qidian.com), your support is my greatest motivation. For mobile users, please read at m.qidian.com.)
