Chapter 71: Chapter 71: As for This Kind of Thing... It Mainly Depends on Fate
Prince Jing stared blankly at Su Han, taking quite a while to catch his breath.
He raised his hand and slapped the back of Su Han’s head. "I’m talking business with you. Stop messing around."
Su Han curled his lip, looking at Prince Jing with a completely serious expression. "I’m not messing around. What I said is also the truth."
Prince Jing and the Princess Consort exchanged a glance, both seeing the suspicion in each other’s eyes. Catching her breath, the Princess Consort looked at Su Han and asked earnestly, "Do you really know about the Beggar Gang?"
Su Han nodded.
"Do you really know the Beggar Gang Leader?"
Su Han continued to nod.
"Are you... saying that the Beggar Gang Leader works for you?"
Su Han nodded again.
"GASP!"
The husband and wife inhaled sharply in unison. The Princess Consort looked at Prince Jing. "Do you believe this?"
Prince Jing shook his head. "Do you?"
The Princess Consort also shook her head. Prince Jing opened his mouth, but before he could speak, a miserable yelp squeezed through his teeth. "Why did you pinch me?"
"I’m testing to see if it hurts. If it does, then this isn’t a hallucination."
Prince Jing was speechless. "Then why didn’t you pinch... your son?"
He originally wanted to ask why she didn’t pinch herself, but upon seeing the dangerous glint in his wife’s eyes, he hastily changed his tune. He thought to himself, "Good thing I reacted fast."
The Princess Consort looked at him, rubbing the tender flesh at his waist. "So... did it hurt?"
Prince Jing nodded. "Yes."
"Then it’s real." She nodded and turned to her son. "Tell us. What exactly is going on?"
Su Han held it in for a long time before finally admitting to himself that his plan to create an intelligence department that might one day span across Jiuzhou had accidentally gotten a little out of hand. However, with Prince Jing and the Princess Consort standing right in front of him, he couldn’t just keep hiding things.
After some thought, Su Han started weaving a tale. "That winter, it snowed heavily. An old beggar collapsed in front of Prince Jing’s Residence..."
"You already used this story when you went to Yunshui Pavilion at the age of eight," the Princess Consort deadpanned.
Su Han was utterly bewildered. He thought to himself, "Did I use it when I was eight? Then..."
"I must have misremembered. It should have been a summer in another year. The weather was sweltering, and an old beggar collapsed in front of Prince Jing’s Residence..."
"That’s the story you used when you made a fuss about opening Natural Residence."
Su Han was speechless. He grumbled inwardly, "Can’t you leave me some face? Mother, you’ll lose all your friends acting like this!"
Since all his excuses had already been used, there was no other choice. He could only play his final trump card—go, Ancestor!
A master ball... uh, a blatant lie was tossed right out.
"Actually, it’s like this.
"The Beggar Gang didn’t exist originally. I only established it on a whim..."
BLAH BLAH BLAH. Su Han rambled on, explaining his original intentions and the process of establishing the Beggar Gang.
Upon hearing his explanation, the Princess Consort and Prince Jing nodded in unison. It actually sounded quite reasonable. Could this Beggar Gang really have been established by their son, who had just celebrated his sixteenth birthday?
But then, a question arose.
"How did you manage to build a Beggar Gang with only three members, arrogantly proclaim it as the number one gang in the world, and not get beaten to death by the people from those Major Sects?"
Su Han was speechless. He thought, "Is that how you talk about your own son?"
"Well... it’s a long story," he finally replied.
The Princess Consort smiled faintly. "Then make it short."
Su Han paused. "This matter... has to start with a nameless Ancient Scripture left behind by our ancestor."
And so, a tale was born from Su Han’s lips: a story about how their ancestor had serendipitously received a Secret Technique from a senior expert, and how Su Han had serendipitously inherited it. Within the Secret Technique was a Concealing Breath Skill that prevented even top-tier Creation Realm experts from seeing through his actual cultivation level. It also contained an Identification Secret Technique that could see right through even a Celestial Human Realm expert standing right in front of him.
In short, all he had to do was push all the blame onto the ancestor. After all, the ancestor was already dead and couldn’t exactly jump out of the grave to deny it.
What were ancestors for, anyway? They existed precisely to take the blame at critical moments. The ancestor was surely happy to make sacrifices and contribute—Su Han had already squandered a good chunk of the legacy the ancestor had worked so hard to build anyway.
After Su Han finished speaking, Prince Jing and the Princess Consort fell into silence. After a long, long time, the two exchanged another glance and nodded in unison.
"In that case... it makes sense."
Over these past few days, they had watched helplessly as their son seemed to change day by day. If it weren’t for the fact that the innate connection in their bloodline and Divine Souls had never changed since his birth, they would have genuinely suspected their son had been swapped with an imposter. Now, with the explanation of the fortuitous encounter left by the ancestor, many of the things they couldn’t figure out before finally made sense.
"As expected, the man who was fit to be my ancestor was also a person with great serendipity and immense fortune," Prince Jing sighed.
Hearing Prince Jing’s sigh, Su Han sharply caught the key word. "Also?"
Prince Jing blinked. "Is there a problem? Looking through the biographies of heroes past and present, which one of them wasn’t someone possessed of great serendipity and immense fortune?"
Su Han didn’t know what to say. Before he could voice his retort, Prince Jing directly pulled the topic back to him.
"So, what realm are you actually at right now?"
Su Han pondered for a moment. "As for my realm... No matter how many Spirit Platform Realm cultivators come at me, I can thrash them all."
Prince Jing nodded, a look of disdain in his eyes as he thought, "You’re already in the Divine Sea Realm. Aren’t you embarrassed to say something like that?" However, upon recalling that his son had only reached Foundation Establishment two months ago, Prince Jing immediately lost his disdain.
Su Han added, "If it’s the Divine Sea Realm, I could knock down a whole swath of them if I try my best."
Prince Jing thought about it and nodded. He could do that too. Having just reached Divine Sea Realm Perfection a few days ago, he could also knock down a group of Divine Sea Realm cultivators with a bit of effort. But the thought that it took him decades to achieve what his son had done in a few months made Prince Jing feel a slight twinge of sourness in his heart.
Ignoring Prince Jing’s sour mood, Su Han continued, "As for the Immortal Platform Realm, I can handle three or five of them."
Prince Jing was speechless. He thought, "Son of a bitch, how long have you even been cultivating? And you can already handle the Immortal Platform Realm?"
Before he could speak, Su Han immediately added another sentence, "As for the Celestial Human Realm, if fate aligns, I could hack a few of them to death too."
"A... a few?" Prince Jing stammered.
Su Han nodded. "For this kind of thing... it mainly depends on fate."
Prince Jing didn’t know what to say. He was losing control of himself and desperately wanted to curse! But the boy’s mother was standing right there; he didn’t dare to!
The Celestial Human Realm... hack a few of them to death. How did the boy dare to say such a thing? Wasn’t he afraid of biting off more than he could chew? Prince Jing had been around the block for so many years, yet he didn’t even dare to guarantee he could hack a single Immortal Platform Realm cultivator to death!
However, as if feeling that the blow to Prince Jing’s ego still wasn’t enough, Su Han spoke up again. "Um... against the Creation Realm, if there’s only one opponent... I can take care of them at the cost of one of my trump cards."
Prince Jing was utterly speechless. Looking at Su Han, his expression suddenly turned incredibly serious. It was so serious that Su Han forcibly swallowed back the words he had been about to say: "Not just the Creation Realm, but even if a Divine Demon came, I could deal with it as long as there’s only one."
Su Han stopped talking and just looked at Prince Jing. Prince Jing didn’t speak either, just looking back at Su Han.
After staring for a long time, a fatherly smile appeared on Prince Jing’s face. "Han, can we discuss something?"
Su Han subconsciously took a step back. "What is it?"
Prince Jing cracked his knuckles, a savage grin spreading across his face. "Can I beat you up?"
Su Han was completely speechless.
(Su Han: I’ll give you all my recommendation tickets. Can you not hit me?)
