Chapter 70: Chapter 70: You Might Not Believe It If I Tell You...
"Ha! Trying to trick me into eavesdropping again!"
Sensing the presence of the Shield Array next door, Su Han curled his lips in disdain.
As a moral, high-quality, upstanding youth, how could he possibly do something like eavesdropping?
He would... listen openly and righteously.
Walking over to the stone table near the courtyard wall, Su Han swaggered over and sat down on a stone stool topped with a Soft Jade Cushion. His Divine Thought, like a small fish entering the water, darted back and forth a few times before slipping right through the array’s barrier, taking in everything next door at a glance.
This time... the scene wasn’t on a bed, nor was it even indoors.
Beside an open-air stone table, Miss Feng and her brother sat side-by-side on the stone stools. On the table rested a quaint Bronze Mirror.
Above the Bronze Mirror, through some unknown method, a blurry figure was projected. Its face was indiscernible. When Su Han looked closely, he realized that the projected figure actually had a human head... and a human body.
So... it wasn’t a human head with a snake body after all!
For some reason, Su Han actually felt a twinge of disappointment in his heart.
"I am already aware of this matter. The two of you must be careful and prudent.
"While sabotaging the Demon Race’s plan is certainly important, you must prioritize your own safety above all else.
"If necessary, you may use the Ancestral Artifact to summon me. Although my true body cannot descend, I can still unleash a single strike to help you both escape."
Su Han found the statement completely out of context. Just as he was about to keep listening, the light on the surface of the Bronze Mirror faded, and the projection slowly dissipated.
Once the projection faded, Miss Feng put the Bronze Mirror away.
Afterward, the two discussed other matters, but it was all information Su Han already knew—news about the emergence of ruins and how they couldn’t let the Demon Race obtain this Creation.
Therefore, he didn’t eavesdrop... rather, he didn’t listen openly anymore. Retracting his Divine Thought, he returned to his room.
Early the next morning, just as Su Han finished washing up and before he had time to step out, Prince Jing and the Princess Consort walked in from outside.
"Father, Mother?" Su Han was slightly taken aback to see his parents. "Is something the matter?"
Prince Jing looked at the Princess Consort, who smiled, walked over, and took Su Han’s hand. "Little Han, do you still remember your Aunt Ji, Ji Xuan?"
Su Han nodded. "I remember. Aunt Ji visited the Prince’s Residence when I was a child."
He just couldn’t quite understand why his parents would suddenly come over early in the morning just to chat about an Aunt Ji he hadn’t seen in years.
The Princess Consort smiled and patted Su Han’s hand. "Your Aunt Ji has a daughter who is about to turn sixteen.
"In half a month, it will be the little girl’s sixteenth birthday. I intend to have you make the trip on my behalf to deliver some gifts."
Su Han looked at his mother, the confusion in his eyes deepening.
"Are you planning to have me... go to the Imperial City?"
The Princess Consort nodded. "Yes. Although Lingzhou isn’t far from the Imperial City, a round trip will still take some time. I’ll have Xi and Qiao pack your things, and you can set off today.
"I will also have Music, Chess, Calligraphy, and Painting accompany and protect you."
Su Han looked at the Princess Consort, then at Prince Jing, who was smiling in agreement and even joking that Su Han should try to bring him a daughter-in-law back. A thoughtful gleam flickered in Su Han’s eyes.
"Father, Mother, did something happen?"
Prince Jing paused for a moment before bursting into laughter. "What are you thinking, child? Do you know what my title is?"
Su Han looked at him. Before he could speak, Prince Jing answered his own question. "Prince Jing!
"Given a title matching the name of our country, your father is the foremost prince of Jing Country. Since Lingzhou is the fiefdom of Prince Jing’s Residence, no one in the entire Jing Country would dare provoke us.
"With our family being so powerful, how could anything possibly happen?"
Watching Prince Jing boast without even blushing, Su Han shook his head helplessly in his mind. "Father, Mother, I’m not an idiot."
Prince Jing’s bragging abruptly ceased, and a hint of hesitation appeared on the Princess Consort’s face.
Seeing this, Su Han sighed softly. He brushed a hand over his Storage Ring, and a Flying Sword fell into his grasp.
Channeling his Divine Thought, the Flying Sword pierced the air and split a piece of rubble in the courtyard in two with a single strike.
The scene happened so suddenly that Prince Jing and the Princess Consort didn’t snap out of their stunned daze until Su Han sheathed his Flying Sword.
"Han... Han, have you... opened your Divine Sea?"
Su Han nodded. Looking at his father, he couldn’t help but look a bit smug.
"Now, can you tell me what exactly happened?"
Prince Jing sighed. "I can tell you, but after hearing it, you must leave for the Imperial City with Music, Chess, Calligraphy, and Painting."
Su Han already had a rough guess in his heart and replied noncommittally, "Father, first tell me what happened."
Prince Jing and the Princess Consort exchanged a glance, unable to stop themselves from gently shaking their heads.
"Never mind, we’ll just tell you the truth.
"Han, do you remember a month ago when you and Su Xiao’Er returned from outside and mentioned spotting a lot of unfamiliar faces in Lingzhou City recently?"
Su Han nodded. Not only did he remember, he had even figured out the origins and intentions of those unfamiliar faces.
Seeing Su Han’s nod, Prince Jing continued, "These past few days, I have been sending people to secretly keep an eye on them, and I’ve roughly figured out their backgrounds."
Prince Jing recounted the information he had gathered one by one, the contents largely the same as what Su Han already knew.
After he finished speaking, a hint of wariness flashed in Prince Jing’s eyes. "Although these people gathered together represent a massive force that the entire Jing Country cannot resist, they came to Lingzhou for that legendary opportunity. They wouldn’t go out of their way to harm Lingzhou City for no reason.
"What truly makes your mother and I wary aren’t these major sects and noble houses of Jiuzhou, but another great faction."
Su Han blanked. Aside from them, what other great factions were there?
Prince Jing’s face was full of worry. "The sect forces from all over Jiuzhou have come for the opportunity, and they will inevitably leave once the struggle for it is over.
"However, during this time, a newly emerged faction has taken root in Lingzhou City, and they don’t seem to have any intention of leaving."
Celestial Demon Sect?
Supreme Dao?
Taiyin Sect?
Sumeru Sect?
Or some other major sect or noble clan?
After thinking in circles, Su Han eliminated these sect forces one by one, leaving him somewhat baffled.
"What faction?"
"The Beggar Gang!"
"PFFT!"
Even though Prince Jing had spoken so solemnly, Su Han couldn’t help but break into laughter.
"Wait... hold on, let me laugh for a moment. Father, what gang did you say?"
Prince Jing’s eyelids twitched wildly, his temples bulging. Suppressing the urge to grab his son and beat him up, he repeated the name. "The Beggar Gang."
As if afraid his son wouldn’t understand, Prince Jing explained the reason why he feared the Beggar Gang the most.
"This Beggar Gang has never made a name for itself anywhere in Jiuzhou before; Lingzhou is their first public stronghold.
"Yet, such an obscure gang actually dares to call itself the number one gang in the world.
"That alone wouldn’t be much, but what’s truly frightening is that the major sects from all over Jiuzhou are currently gathered in Lingzhou City.
"And yet, these people seem to have tacitly acknowledged the Beggar Gang’s title as the number one gang in the world. Surprisingly, not a single person has stepped forward to refute it.
"From this, it’s clear that the Beggar Gang’s strength must match its reputation.
"Most importantly of all... the Beggar Gang has established the Lingzhou Sub-Branch. They seem to intend to develop and expand here in Lingzhou and Jing Country."
Su Han was speechless.
His expression was conflicted as he forced himself to keep a straight face. He was truly afraid he would burst into laughter again while his father was speaking.
While fighting back his amusement, Su Han couldn’t help but secretly reflect, "So, when I founded the Beggar Gang, did I forget to report it to my parents?
"Why do I remember... um, alright, it seems I really did forget to mention it."
After finishing his explanation, Prince Jing frowned deeply when he saw Su Han’s forced attempt to hold back a smile.
"Don’t be a skeptic. This Beggar Gang—"
Before Prince Jing could finish, Su Han nodded and interrupted his remaining words.
"I believe you! I really do!"
Su Han looked at Prince Jing, then at the Princess Consort.
"Father, Mother, there’s something you don’t know. Not only do I know of this Beggar Gang, I even know their Gang Leader."
Prince Jing was utterly speechless.
The Princess Consort fell silent.
"Not only do I know their Gang Leader, but their Gang Leader works for me."
Prince Jing was stunned.
The Princess Consort was completely dumbfounded.
"You two might not believe it if I say it, but this Beggar Gang... was actually founded single-handedly by me."
Prince Jing was left at a complete loss for words.
The Princess Consort stood there in stunned silence.
