Chapter 245: Chapter 243: You Suspect There Are More Than Four Huluns?

Shen Yue walked quickly to Bai Chaosi’s bedside. The man lay quietly on the bed, his thin and tall figure looking somewhat fragile under his current pallor. His exceptionally beautiful, jade-like face seemed as though a mere touch would cause him to dissipate into thin air.

Shen Yue felt a sour ache in her heart. This man was just like a delicate porcelain doll—proud yet miserable, and prone to self-torment. His mind was so sensitive and easily hurt, yet even while enduring his own pain and suffering, he could shoulder the fate of his entire clan. He seemed to always endure in silence, bearing things he didn’t want to carry, like a broken beauty burdened with far too much. It felt as though treating him with even slightly too much force, or neglecting him too lightly, would cause him to shatter instantly. It made one’s heart ache, yet it was also infuriating.

Taking a deep breath, she finally sat down on the edge of the bed and reached out to press her fingertips against his pulse. Her cool fingertips brushed across Bai Chaosi’s skin, which was as pale and transparent as paper.

A few seconds later, she frowned. Bai Chaosi’s poison was completely cured, and his body was fine. Why was his pulse still so weak? She recalled what A Cheng had said earlier, and alarm bells instantly rang in her head. Could it be that being away from Snow Ridge for too long had caused problems with his body?

A Cheng had said that the White Fox clan of Snow Ridge could not leave the ridge for too long, or they would die in their sleep. Half a year at most! But it had only been about four months since Bai Chaosi left Snow Ridge, not even half a year yet...

Huang Ziyue noticed that Shen Yue’s expression was off. "What’s wrong?"

Shen Yue let go of his wrist. "His pulse is very weak!" As she spoke, she pulled Bai Chaosi’s other wrist over and continued to check his pulse. A few seconds later, the result was the same.

Hearing this, Huang Ziyue frowned and looked at Bai Chaosi. The man’s aura was indeed a bit weak; he had noticed it the moment he walked in. But Shen Yue’s Divine Water had always been the most effective. There shouldn’t be any illness it couldn’t cure. Besides, he had checked the palm strike from this morning, and under Shen Yue’s treatment, it had completely healed. What other injury could make his aura so weak?

Seeing Shen Yue looking somewhat nervous, he consoled her, "Don’t worry too much. Perhaps it’s just because he hasn’t rested well these past two days."

Hearing this, Shen Yue remembered A Cheng mentioning that Bai Chaosi had punished himself by standing in that small courtyard all night the night before last. And last night, he had stood in the courtyard she shared with Huang Ziyue for another whole night. True enough, he hadn’t slept for two consecutive nights. Today, he was injured and poisoned on top of that. Perhaps he was simply too exhausted!

Shen Yue stood up. "Let him get some good rest first!"

The two left Bai Chaosi and Xiao Ya’s courtyard. Shen Yue instructed the two people from the Mystic Mechanism Building to continue guarding in the shadows, especially to keep an eye out for any changes in Xiao Ya.

Then, they immediately returned to the guest room where the two children’s bodies were kept. After all, since this game wasn’t over yet, they had to put on a full show. They stayed in the room for a while before having the servants of the City Lord Mansion notify Hu Tu.

Only then did they return to their own courtyard. As soon as they entered the room, Huang Ziyue set up a spiritual power barrier.

Shen Yue sat at the table, the doubts in her heart growing heavier. First, the children’s bodies had clearly been buried in the dense forest, yet they had appeared in the City Lord Mansion. That was doubt number one. Second, the four Hu Tus were clearly dead, yet there was actually another Hu Tu in the City Lord Mansion. Third, if Xiao Ya wasn’t the Purple Rabbit, where did the Purple Rabbit from the dense forest go? But if she was the Purple Rabbit, how could her severe injuries vanish without a trace?

Sitting in the room, Shen Yue felt that everything they had experienced in the City Lord Mansion was like a meticulously woven net, silently trapping them within it.

Thinking of this, she frowned. "How do you think it’s possible for there to be five Hu Tus?"

Shen Yue and Huang Ziyue sat across from each other at the pear-wood table in the room. The light tea on the table had long gone cold, its curling steam completely dissipated, much like the lingering clouds of suspicion in their hearts.

"Four Hu Tus clearly perished in the dense forest, yet there’s still another one in the City Lord Mansion. It’s truly bizarre! What on earth is going on?" Shen Yue unconsciously rubbed the rim of her cup with her fingertips, her voice tinged with immense frustration. She lowered her eyes to look at the tea leaves settled at the bottom of her cup, replaying the scene in the dense forest’s stone chamber over and over in her mind.

The bodies of those four Hu Tus had clearly melted into pools of blood; there was absolutely no chance of survival. Yet, an extra one had appeared in the City Lord Mansion.

Huang Ziyue’s long fingers lightly tapped the tabletop, the veins on the back of his knobby hand twitching slightly. "Are you suspecting that there are more than four Hu Tus?"

"I’m not just suspecting. I think it’s far more complicated than just five." As Shen Yue spoke, she suddenly looked up, a sharp glint flashing through her piercing eyes. "I kept feeling like I missed something, and I only just remembered—the blood aura."

Her voice abruptly pitched higher, carrying a tremor of sudden realization. "The blood aura of that severed tail and the blood aura of the Hu Tu in the City Lord Mansion are exactly the same! So, in reality, every Hu Tu shares the exact same blood!"

Huang Ziyue’s pupils shrank sharply. Blood aura was the most fundamental mark of the Beast Clan. Even for close relatives of the same bloodline, there would be subtle differences in their auras, let alone several Hu Tus with entirely independent bodies.

"There’s only one possibility." Shen Yue’s fingertips trembled slightly. "They are all the exact same person."

"Clones?" Huang Ziyue said in a deep voice. But as soon as the words left his mouth, he shook his head. "No. The spiritual power aura of clones would inevitably share the same origin, but the four Hu Tus we sensed had completely different spiritual power fluctuations. It was like... they were four completely independent individuals."

This was the most bizarre part. If they were clones of the same person, why would their spiritual power auras be so worlds apart? If they were different individuals, how could the identical blood aura be explained?

The two sat in silence, the air in the room seemingly stagnating. Only the occasional chirping of insects outside the window remained, further highlighting the oppressive silence within the room.

After an unknown amount of time, rushed footsteps sounded from outside the courtyard, accompanied by Wu Huo’s deep voice.

Shen Yue and Huang Ziyue exchanged a glance and stood up together. Pushing the door open, they saw Wu Huo and A Cheng walking over quickly, one after the other.

"Where are they?" Shen Yue asked.

Wu Huo replied, "Rest assured, Ms. Shen Yue. A Cheng and I have settled them in the small courtyard we stayed in previously. There are remaining Dragon Guards keeping watch over there, so nothing will go wrong."

Hearing this, Shen Yue and Huang Ziyue instructed Wu Huo to guard the City Lord Mansion well, then turned and dashed toward the small courtyard.

As soon as they arrived, the several Dragon Guards hiding in the shadows revealed themselves and bowed very respectfully to Shen Yue.

Shen Yue paused for a moment, assuming these Dragon Guards were only being so respectful and polite to her because of Huang Ziyue. She entered the room and looked at the people lying there. Every single one of them had lost consciousness. They had clearly had too much of their spiritual power drained by the Devouring God Flower, plunging them into darkness.

She didn’t delay, directly taking out the Vitality Water and feeding it to these people one by one. Then, she pulled out her silver needles. "Strip their clothes off!"

The Dragon Guards standing nearby were already astonished watching her feed everyone the transparent water. They were very curious—could this water really cure those who had been devoured by the Devouring God Flower? That was the Devouring God Flower, the legendary world-destroying flower! Even if the Beast God came, it would be impossible to save these people.

Now, hearing her say to strip everyone’s clothes off... the crowd immediately became even more puzzled, and some even started turning red in the face!
