Chapter 193: Chapter 191: I’ll Let You Have Your Fill of Love
She didn’t know how she was managing to draw each breath.
All she knew was that an invisible net seemed to be wrapped around her heart, squeezing tighter and tighter. It grew more and more painful, until it hurt so much she couldn’t breathe.
The suffocating sensation made her tremble and grow cold.
Her lips parted. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing and hearing.
"He... he’s lost his memory?"
’Bai Chaosi doesn’t remember me?’
’He doesn’t remember everything that happened between us?’
’The woman in his memory, the one he loves... is no longer me?’
Huang Ziyue, standing beside her, couldn’t bear to look at her expression. He knew her heart must be filled with disbelief and unimaginable pain.
He recalled that morning, after Bai Chaosi woke up, he had fought desperately to leave.
No matter how they tried to stop him or explain the situation, he paid them no heed.
He didn’t even recognize A Cheng.
He was completely fixated on returning to that woman’s side.
It was as if he’d gone mad.
He was convinced that Xiao Ya was the person he loved most.
Convinced that Xiao Ya was his salvation, that she was the one who had saved him.
So, when Shen Yue had woken up and immediately asked to see Bai Chaosi, none of them knew how to tell her.
Because Huang Ziyue knew just how much blood, sweat, and tears Shen Yue had poured into finding Bai Chaosi, how much of her heart she had invested.
To make things right, she had even crossed her own moral boundaries, personally punishing those who had harmed Bai Chaosi.
This meant shattering her own moral compass, an act that was nothing less than a slow, torturous death for someone with such a deeply compassionate nature.
Perhaps only Shen Yue herself truly knew what she had done for him, what lines she had crossed.
But after everything she had done, her reward was to be forgotten by the man she loved, to watch him run to another woman.
At this thought, Huang Ziyue’s heart ached for Shen Yue. Her face was ashen, and she seemed trapped in her anguish.
His lips parted, and he said:
"He doesn’t remember anyone. He only remembers that this woman is the one he loves most."
"Shen Yue... you still have me."
Hearing this, a sharp pain stabbed through Shen Yue’s heart.
It felt as if she was being torn in two.
Her eyes reddened against her will as she stared intently at the scene below.
’How could this be happening?’
’I don’t believe it.’
’I refuse to believe that Bai Chaosi has forgotten me.’
She was desperate for proof. She had to stand before him, look him in the eye, and ask him herself: ’Do you really not remember me?’
In that moment, all reason was consumed by emotion.
She leaped down, a solitary streak of red descending upon the world, and landed gracefully behind Bai Chaosi.
In light of the romantic scene, Xiao Ya had been about to lean into Bai Chaosi’s embrace to deepen their connection.
But when she saw the stunning, red-clad figure leap down, her eyes widened at the sudden intruder, and she let out a startled shriek.
"AHH! Who are you?"
Bai Chaosi immediately spun around. He looked at the person behind him, who was wrapped head to toe in red. When his gaze met her star-like eyes, he froze for a second.
Then he quickly pulled Xiao Ya behind him.
"Who are you?"
His voice wasn’t icy, but it was distant, guarded, and so unfamiliar that it stabbed at Shen Yue’s heart.
Shen Yue’s exquisite face was hidden behind a red veil, revealing only her wounded eyes. She looked at Bai Chaosi, who was watching her with wariness, and forced the words out:
"You... you really don’t remember me?"
Her voice, clear as a mountain spring, struck his heart like jade pearls falling onto a platter.
For a fleeting second, an inexplicable sorrow welled up in his chest, but it vanished as quickly as it came.
He couldn’t quite grasp the feeling, so he chose to ignore it.
He looked at her.
"Who are you? And why should I remember you?"
His voice took on a cold edge as he continued:
"Besides, you’re the one who just trespassed on private property. Shouldn’t I be the one asking the questions?"
Shen Yue met his utterly cold gaze, and the pain in her chest was so sharp it felt like she was suffocating.
"Bai Chaosi, have you truly forgotten me?"
The helplessness and incredulous pain in her voice made the man before her flinch instinctively.
He didn’t like the feeling. His brow furrowed slightly.
"Miss, please show some decorum. Even if we did know each other before, it means nothing to me now. If you have something to say, just tell me who you are. Don’t play guessing games."
His words were crystal clear, a merciless blow that left Shen Yue no room for hope.
Meanwhile, Xiao Ya, still hiding behind him, was sizing up Shen Yue. Her feminine intuition screamed that this woman in red, who had appeared out of nowhere with such a transcendent aura, was no ordinary person.
Though the woman’s face was veiled, the noble air that she exuded from her very being sparked a sense of crisis within Xiao Ya.
She wasn’t stupid. She immediately understood that this woman’s relationship with Bai Chaosi was complicated. From their exchange, she could tell they definitely had a history.
At this thought, she pressed herself closer behind Bai Chaosi and whispered:
"A Xi, who is she? Why did she barge into our home like that?"
Hearing the fear in her voice, Bai Chaosi instinctively reached out to shield her.
"Don’t be afraid, Xiao Ya. I’m here."
Those words plunged Shen Yue, who was already reeling from the shock, into an even deeper abyss of ice.
She stared intently at the man before her, momentarily unable to speak.
The pain, a chilling ache that pierced her to the bone and seized her heart, rooted her to the spot.
She could only fix her gaze on him, searching for any tell-tale sign, any flicker of recognition. But there was nothing.
He showed no cracks in his facade.
He shielded the other woman protectively, as if guarding a priceless treasure.
’I don’t believe it. The Bai Chaosi who loved me would never act like this with another woman right in front of me. If he hadn’t lost his memory, he would never, ever be willing to cause me such pain.’
’So...’
’He really isn’t him anymore!’
’He’s really forgotten me.’
She looked at him, still unable to accept it.
"Bai Chaosi, think. Think hard. Do you truly not remember me?"
Bai Chaosi, still shielding Xiao Ya, looked at her with growing impatience.
"Miss, how many times do I have to repeat myself? If you have something to say about who you are, just say it."
"And whether I remember you is completely irrelevant. Even if we knew each other before, even if we were close, I’ve forgotten you now. Please stop being so cryptic. I highly doubt we have any past worth reminiscing about. So, please, do not cause my beloved to misunderstand or become alarmed!"
His cold words, drawing a clear line between them, plunged into Shen Yue’s chest like a dagger.
In that instant, her eyes turned to ice. She stared at him, her eyes wide with disbelief.
"What did you just say? Your beloved?"
She slowly raised a trembling hand, pointing at the woman behind him, unable to believe her own ears.
"You’re saying... she is your beloved?"
Bai Chaosi frowned and answered without a hint of hesitation:
"That’s right."
At that moment, Shen Yue’s gaze went past him and met the eyes of the woman hiding behind him—eyes that were both pitiful and sly.
The triumphant gleam in the other woman’s eyes did not escape her notice.
The fury in her heart finally erupted.
She lowered her gaze, and after a few seconds of silence, she seemed frighteningly calm.
"Bai Chaosi, I’ll give you one last chance. Are you certain you want to protect her? Certain you choose her? Certain that she is your beloved?"
The man before her listened to this question that seemed to come from her very soul, seemingly prepared for it.
"I am certain. She is the love of my life."
Just then, Huang Ziyue, who had been watching from the shadows, could take no more. He appeared in a flash, standing before Shen Yue.
"Don’t waste another breath on him. Let’s go."
The moment he appeared, his tall, slender frame and powerful aura made the atmosphere in the entire courtyard grow tense.
The very air seemed to freeze.
It frightened Xiao Ya, who was still hiding behind Bai Chaosi, so much that she froze in place.
From beneath his cloak, Huang Ziyue’s dark red eyes, laced with killing intent, swept over Xiao Ya.
He then reached out his strong, powerful arm to pull Shen Yue away.
"Let’s go."
But to his surprise, Shen Yue stopped him, pressing her hand firmly on his.
"Fine. The love of your life, is she?"
Her voice was toneless, but it was clearly seething with rage.
Huang Ziyue froze and turned to look at her.
He watched as she lifted her gaze, her eyes fixed on the still-stunned Bai Chaosi with a menacing look.
"Love, is it? Fine. I’ll let you have your fill of love."
Before the words had even faded, she kicked out.
The next second, before anyone could react, Bai Chaosi was sent flying out of the courtyard in a vicious arc.
The red figure standing before Huang Ziyue vanished with a WHOOSH and shot out in hot pursuit.
She looked as if she meant to kill Bai Chaosi, a fight to the death.
Meanwhile, Xiao Ya finally reacted. She stared in horror at the figure that had been kicked into the air and shrieked:
"A Xi!!"
