Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts
Chapter 441 - 439: The Third Person Inn
The shattered petals and leaves were as brilliant as fireworks blooming in the sky.
Faye Yardley could even faintly hear the cheers coming from the crowd below.
’Wow, did I see fireworks like these the last time I was here?’
’As for the people inside those flowers and leaves? Who cares?’
’It’s every man for himself.’
Thrill-seekers never care about the price they might pay in their pursuit of excitement.
Faye Yardley wasn’t too worried about what would happen after the dandelion’s protective shield broke. She had already mentally run through at least five or six scenarios for landing safely from such a height.
After all, getting to eat a meal and raise your Attributes, play a game and raise your Attributes even more—such a good deal was bound to have a price.
’Perhaps this is what they mean by "fortune favors the bold."’
Since she couldn’t get up freely, her butt was glued to the seat. If she wanted to see something, she had to turn her own head.
"Big Sis, look! The clouds!"
The sky hadn’t been gloomy before, but it certainly didn’t have this many white clouds. Then, before their very eyes, it filled with a rosy afterglow and iridescent clouds that danced in the heavens.
Faye Yardley wasn’t happy about the night sky’s sudden, abnormal change, but she couldn’t deny its breathtaking beauty.
It was reminiscent of a classical poem: delicate, warm clouds toying with light and shadow, a vast expanse of rosy light unfurling like a brocade.
As the sky changed, the dandelion began to slowly drift downward.
It would descend to a certain point, then rise again. Floating up and down like this, it somehow avoided colliding with another flower, petal, or stem.
A gentle breeze caressed her face, and for a rare moment, Faye Yardley relaxed.
"Faye, you’ve been to Serene Shadow City, haven’t you? Did you think it was fun?"
Faye Yardley looked at Diana Quinn across from her and smiled slightly. "It was very fun. A very interesting city."
"Right? It’s a shame I’m getting married," Diana Quinn said with a wistful sigh.
This made Luca Russell look at her nervously, terrified she might call off the wedding so close to the date.
Getting married meant she would have to renounce her claim to inheriting Serene Shadow City.
Faye Yardley smiled at the two of them. "Lumina is great, too. There are lots of interesting people there. You could open an adventurer’s guild in the city, post some quests, and as long as you offer a small reward, you’ll have plenty of adventurers willing to run errands for you."
"Alright, I’ll just open one next to your shop. If there’s anything you want, I can help you collect it, too."
"Great, thank you. I might have quite a long list."
She could do business with people in Lumina, but she couldn’t post quests that were recognized by its game system.
If Diana Quinn was willing to help, it would be a huge boon for Faye Yardley.
WHOOSH!
The once leisurely dandelion suddenly spazzed out, charging straight into the parade streamers and beginning a reckless rampage.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Accompanied by a cacophony of screams, Faye Yardley felt like her eardrums were about to burst.
Clusters of fireworks exploded amidst the long streamers.
’The dandelion’s combat power is impressive,’ she thought. It smashed one target after another, and though its own protective shield was on the verge of collapse, it simply refused to break.
How long does the Evernight City festival last?
The answer: until the flower you’re riding on shatters.
After the dandelion’s protective shield cracked and shattered, the strong, high-altitude wind whipped against them, threatening to tear them away.
Luca Russell unbuckled his seatbelt, grabbed Diana Quinn’s hand, and said to Faye Yardley and the others, "We’re leaving now. We hope to see you at the wedding."
"Alright. See you."
In the next instant, Luca Russell and Diana Quinn vanished right before their eyes.
Lucy White frantically brushed the stray hairs from her face. "Yikes, is this dandelion about to explode?"
"Then let’s go too." Faye Yardley glanced left and right. "Come over here and hold on to me."
Cole Kensington melted directly into her shadow. Lucy White giggled, slid down from her seat, and ran over to hug Faye Yardley’s arm. Faye then leaped off the dandelion, taking Lucy with her.
The instant they left, the dandelion exploded into a brilliant firework.
The wind howled in their ears.
At first, she focused only on controlling their fall to avoid colliding with other flowers and petals, doing nothing else.
But just because she didn’t attack didn’t mean others wouldn’t attack them.
Whenever anyone launched an attack Skill at them, Faye Yardley’s response was simple and brutal: she’d toss back an explosive talisman, adding another brilliant burst to the fireworks in the sky.
Lucy White let go with one hand, pulled out her whip, and flicked it upward. She hooked one person and smashed them into another, her strength terrifyingly great.
Once they were clear of the chaos of flowers, petals, and streamers, Faye Yardley took a large umbrella out of her backpack.
"Hahaha... ha... This is so much fun~"
Umbrella after umbrella broke, but they finally landed safely on a rooftop.
They vaulted off the roof and onto the street below. Even in the dead of night, the streets of Nightfall Citadel were still bustling with activity.
Faye Yardley didn’t expect to see the Third Person Inn, which she remembered from last time, right across the street.
’Since we’re here, might as well get a room for the night.’
Though it was called an inn, the interior was as magnificent as a palace.
Seeing them enter, a uniformed attendant approached with a warm, enthusiastic smile. "Distinguished guests, are you in need of lodging? We also offer food and drink."
Faye Yardley asked directly, "Do you have any suites?"
"We do. What kind of suite do you require?"
"Just something comfortable for the three of us."
"Based on your reputation, we have several suites that meet your requirements. Please take a look and tell me which one you’d like." As the attendant spoke, a brochure appeared in their hands. They opened it to display a variety of suites.
Faye Yardley chose a simple three-bedroom, one-living-room suite. Based on her reputation, it only cost 100 silver coins a night and even included a complimentary breakfast and late-night supper.
The service and treatment were astonishingly good.
’Is this really the same Third Person Inn that makes people shudder to even mention it—the one where you pay your bill with body parts if you can’t afford the room?’
She booked it for three nights. After settling into the suite, she tried the complimentary late-night supper they’d sent up. It was normal, human-edible food, with no special effects, of course.
Even so, Faye Yardley was quite satisfied.
"Big Sis, the service at this inn is great! And the food’s delicious, too. It’s almost as good as what Second Sis makes."
Cole Kensington glanced at Lucy White without a word, then said, "Big Sis, I want to go look around outside."
"Go on, but remember to be polite while you’re out."
"Got it."
Lucy White immediately piped up, "I want to go too!"
Faye Yardley snorted. "You’re not going."
No matter how much Lucy White cried that it was unfair or called her biased, Faye Yardley didn’t budge.
Faye Yardley had a feeling that Lucy White would become completely uncontrollable the moment she was out of sight, so it was better to keep her close.
For the next two days, Faye Yardley spent her days in The Frigid World. When she returned to Nightfall Citadel in the evenings, she would randomly participate in one of the city’s other festivities and try any human-edible delicacies she came across.
