Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts
Chapter 373 - 371: Providing a Sample
It was true in any world: the more you spent, the better the service you received. You were always treated like a VIP.
Faye Yardley had bought a large amount this time, so of course, Bella and Eamon got their share.
Eamon was so excited about his ton of it that he danced for joy. Bella, on the other hand, just nuzzled against Faye Yardley before plunging its head directly into the large barrel.
A vine extended down from the window of the small second-floor balcony, silently stretching its tendril into the large barrel. Bella glanced at it but didn’t shoo it away.
Faye Yardley wasn’t sure if it was because Bella had eaten the vine’s leaves before, but it seemed willing to share the Flower Dew.
She took out another large barrel of Flower Dew. "Alright, alright, don’t fight with Bella over it. This one is for you."
Speaking of which, after absorbing the previous ton, the vine had grown quite a bit. It was longer and had more leaves, but that was about it.
’I’m looking forward to seeing the vine’s mature form. I wonder what it will look like then.’
"It’s getting late. Get some rest after you’re done eating,"
Faye Yardley said, and with a light push of her feet, she leaped into the air, landing on the small second-floor balcony in an instant.
After washing up, Faye Yardley sat up in bed. She wasn’t just staring into space; she was looking through her warehouse.
Both of her warehouses were piled high with things.
Many items had been sitting there for so long that she’d forgotten they even existed, like the raft core.
She really had no idea what it was for, but her instincts told her it was something valuable.
So, she had kept it tucked away in her private warehouse.
There was also a photo she had fished up a long time ago, of a little girl hugging a dog. She didn’t know who they were, but the little girl was adorable, and the dog was ugly-cute.
RING RING RING~
Seeing the caller’s name, Faye Yardley shot up from her bed, quickly moved to the sofa on the small balcony, and sat down before answering. "Good evening, Mr. Langdon. Did you see my message?"
"Good evening, Gorgeous Yardley. Yes, I did. My island produces this Mist-Blue Spider Egg Ore. I don’t know what it’s used for yet, but if you can help me sell it, we can discuss the details as long as the price is right."
’So frank?!’
Faye Yardley was quite surprised as she looked at the Egg Ore in his hand. She said directly, "In that case, could you give me a few as samples? And would you mind if I had someone research and analyze this Egg Ore first?"
"Of course. Hold on, I’ll send you 10 to start. If you figure out its use, I hope you’ll tell me directly."
"But of course. Since you’re being so generous and willing to trust me, Mr. Langdon, I will certainly not betray that trust."
As she spoke, Faye Yardley received the Gift Logan Langdon sent over. Without another word, she accepted it, then picked up a piece in front of him to examine it closely.
The one he gave her seemed a bit prettier; amid the mist-blue, there were also hints of pinkish-purple.
"By the way, does even Miss Chloe at your side not know about this Egg Ore?"
Logan Langdon nodded. "That’s right, she’s never seen it either. Most of the people on my island are mining for me, and the output is quite substantial right now. I heard you have shops in other cities. I’m truly grateful that you’re willing to help me sell it."
Faye Yardley could only maintain a polite smile, then she asked very directly, "The system prompted me that this can hatch Mist-Blue Spiders. Have you tried incubating it?"
"I have, but without any success. It’s possible I’m not using the right method. I don’t know the specific incubation process yet."
They exchanged a few more pleasantries, agreeing to confirm the consignment, price, and other specific details once they figured out what the Egg Ore was actually used for.
After hanging up, Faye Yardley looked at the Egg Ore in her hand, with its faint pinkish-purple hue, and couldn’t help but wonder if she was being too suspicious.
Just then, Green Egg suddenly hopped out of its wooden box, bounced onto Faye Yardley’s shoulder, rolled off, and collided with the Egg Ore with a THUD.
"Green Egg, you..."
Faye Yardley was about to ask if it was okay, worried it might have shattered itself. But as it turned out, Green Egg was fine—it was the Egg Ore in her hand that had shattered. She then saw Green Egg hop into her palm and roll all over the broken ore.
’I must be seeing things.’ She could have sworn she saw a look of satisfaction on an egg.
Putting Green Egg back in its wooden box, Faye Yardley noticed that only mist-blue fragments remained in her palm; not a single trace of pinkish-purple was left.
"Green Egg, you’ve gone too far! You ate what was in my hand without my permission! As punishment, you get nothing to eat for a month. Stay in there and reflect on what you’ve done. If you act so recklessly again, I’ll boil you and eat you as a hard-boiled egg!"
Green Egg trembled twice, seeming to shiver in fear.
Faye Yardley huffed and stood up, then had the system send her back to Conch Isle. Now she was even more eager to find out what this Mist-Blue Spider Egg Ore really was.
This was the good thing about not being short on money—she could go back whenever she wanted.
The trip back to the island would take two hours. Faye Yardley figured her island couldn’t be very close to Logan Langdon’s, but that was for the best. Being too close would just be troublesome.
It was already past 9 p.m., so she would arrive late at night. However, after she informed Franklin Yardley, Marlin, who was still in the lab, replied that someone would be there at all times and insisted she deliver the samples as soon as she arrived.
Now that they had the personnel and equipment, they were full of passion for anything new and wished they could spend 24 hours a day in the lab.
If humans didn’t need to eat and sleep, they really would work like robots—perhaps even more fanatically.
She sent a message to Zachary Pierce, asking if he was free and to give her a call if he was.
The call came through quickly.
Zachary Pierce: "Yardley, is something the matter?"
Faye Yardley nodded. "Yes. Logan Langdon has this type of Egg Ore on his island. I was wondering if he’s asked your people to help research it."
"He has. The stuff is truly strange—it’s both an ore and a life form. However, our research here has just begun. We need certain equipment, and our team has already entered Dungeon 3 to get it. They should be able to bring it back when they’re out." Zachary Pierce continued, "Also, regarding those individuals who gained superpowers from the Superpower Crystal Stones you provided, no matter what methods we try, the total amount of superpower energy in their bodies doesn’t increase at all. However, after it’s depleted, it recovers to its original level after a period of time."
"So they can’t evolve any further?"
"It’s unclear. It could be that we just haven’t found the right method yet."
Faye Yardley mulled it over for a moment before saying, "In that case, I’ll give you one more. Use it on the same people as before and see if it has any effect."
"Thank you. We were planning to ask you, but we knew it would be improper, so we’ve been holding off."
Faye Yardley just smiled, looking completely unconcerned. After all, she was the one who had asked them for help with the research in the first place. She hadn’t paid any research fees and had still gotten the experimental results she wanted.
Now that they wanted to continue their in-depth research, she was also very curious about what would happen next. Providing a few more samples was a necessity.
