Sea Survival: My Luck is Off the Charts

Chapter 339: Prolonged Training and Serene Shadow City’s Energy

Carrying the Invitation Card, she received a grand reception at the City Lord’s Manor. Per her request, she was then lodged in a detached house beside the manor.

Servants were also arranged for her.

However, what Faye Yardley hadn’t expected was that Kian Quill was Diana Quinn’s younger brother.

As for why one sibling had cat ears and the other had rabbit ears, that fell into the realm of personal privacy, so she was too embarrassed to ask.

Now, staying in a clean, tidy, and even cozy-looking house, Faye Yardley breathed a momentary sigh of relief. ’I should be able to get a good night’s sleep tonight, right?’

"Miss, dinner is ready. Please come and dine."

"Okay, thank you."

Faye Yardley didn’t refuse the City Lord’s Manor’s kind arrangements, mainly because Kian Quill was extremely enthusiastic. If she hadn’t firmly refused, the kid would have insisted on staying with her.

’The thought was terrifying.’

Arriving in the dining room, Faye Yardley looked at the food on the table and felt as if she were seeing things.

A whole, furry, unidentifiable beast sat in the middle of the table, along with several plates of raw vegetables.

"You all eat raw food?"

The servant blinked with confused eyes. "Doesn’t the guest like it? This is our most popular food here. Pentacorn, Ideal Grass, Cloud Rhinoceros Flower Leaves, and Pistachios."

Faye Yardley didn’t know what to say. They had laid out their highest standard of hospitality for her; how could she be unsatisfied?

She waved her hand. "You may leave. I don’t need any service here."

After the servants left, Faye Yardley directly stored the entire table of food in her inventory.

’Since these are all good ingredients, I’ll just take them back for Willow Yardley to process.’

She had a hard time accepting the idea of eating them raw.

She sat for a moment, then got up, returned to her bedroom, and took out the bamboo shoot and meat buns she had stored in her inventory to eat.

Meanwhile, the servants who came to clean up were delighted to see the empty table. "See? The guest really likes the delicacies we prepared."

"That’s right, that’s right! I told you no one can resist such delicious food."

If Faye Yardley had heard their conversation, she surely would have been moved to tears.

Serene Shadow City seemed to have no night. Opening the window, she could hear the lively sounds of laughter from the streets, and the sun, as if it would never set, was still hanging high in the sky.

How long had she been here?

Not counting the time in the amusement park, it seemed like it was still noon.

But looking down at her watch, it clearly showed it was now 7:15 PM.

’Maybe night just comes later here, and it’s not time yet.’

But she...

"Hey, Miss Yardley, it’s great you haven’t rested yet! Come down and play with us!"

Outside the window, Kian Quill and his friends were waving at her.

Faye Yardley shook her head and refused. "Thank you for the invitation, but I’m getting ready to rest. You all have fun."

After saying that, she waved, then shut the window with a SNAP and even drew the curtains.

The room didn’t plunge into darkness because the lights were on, and the curtains were terrible at blocking light.

Drawing the curtains was a pointless act.

Faye Yardley flopped onto the bed and turned off the light, which had made no difference whether it was on or off. The room was still filled with ample sunlight.

’Now, what should I do? It seems a bit too early to sleep. But after such an intense game, I feel like I should rest for a while.’

The little voice in her head was talking to itself.

Since she was in an unfamiliar place, Faye Yardley didn’t circulate the Health Care Scripture. After some thought, she got out of bed and began practicing the Body Technique Gavin Donovan had first taught her.

As she performed the Body Technique, she felt something being drawn into her body, making her feel warm and comfortable, and her spirits lifted even higher.

Cultivation that provided immediate, positive feedback was like dry tinder to a flame—it wouldn’t stop until it was all consumed.

Faye Yardley was in a similar state, finding it harder and harder to stop the more she cultivated.

However, a sliver of caution remained in her heart, so she stuck to practicing the basic Body Technique, which eventually evolved into various forms of Basic Martial Arts.

Every move and stance was methodical, and her power and posture were now better suited to her own habits and physical condition than when the system had first drilled them into her head.

She thought she would continue cultivating nonstop like this, but while she was practicing the Eight Trigrams Palm, she found she was already back on her raft.

After completing the entire Palm Technique and retracting her Energy, Faye Yardley murmured to herself, "Even these Invitation Cards have a time limit? Isn’t this a little too short?"

It had really left her wanting more.

[Through prolonged self-cultivation, augmented by the energy of Serene Shadow City, your Spirit Attribute has increased by 1.]

’Huh?’

’My Spirit Attribute increased by one, but wasn’t I practicing the Body Technique and Basic Martial Arts? I thought my Constitution and Strength would increase. Instead, my Spirit Attribute went up. Is there any rhyme or reason to how these Attributes are assigned?’

Back on her raft, the biggest change was that the sky outside had instantly switched from bright sunlight to cool moonlight.

"System, what time is it now?"

[Sea Year 1, August 27th, 1:47 AM.]

"So that much time has passed. I thought it had only been an hour or two."

Her Attributes had greatly increased during this trip to Serene Shadow City, with her Constitution reaching 40 points.

It was a truly hard-to-describe city, but it seemed to be filled with energy everywhere. To use a term from the Realm of the Immortals, the air there was filled with Spiritual Energy.

It had to be said, the environment there was peculiar, and the people were strange.

Faye Yardley stood before the small garden, feeling the slight chill of the night breeze.

’I can’t believe the high heat is starting to affect the nights. It looks like my brother’s ice-making business is about to make another fortune.’

Cold enough to freeze you to death, hot enough to cook you alive—here, those weren’t just descriptions, but reality.

"Faye, you just got back?"

"Kingston, why are you out fishing in the sea at this hour? A lot of the fish at night are contaminated."

Faye Yardley turned to see Kingston, holding a fishing net, looking at her in surprise.

"Oh, I know. I’ll have Willow process it later. The bad parts can just be tossed in the garbage disposal. The temperature is just right now. It’s a little too hot during the day, so I figured I’d be active at night."

"Alright. You’ve worked hard."

A smile appeared on Cole Kensington’s face. "It’s no trouble at all when I’m with you, Faye."

Faye Yardley smiled. "As long as you don’t think it’s hard work. I’m going back to rest."

"Good night, Faye."

"Good night."

But back in her room, Faye Yardley couldn’t sleep either.

She wondered if it was because her Constitution and Spirit Attribute had both improved, but it seemed she needed less and less sleep.

For someone who didn’t need to sleep, time certainly couldn’t be wasted by just zoning out.

So, after confirming she couldn’t fall asleep, Faye Yardley leaped directly off her small balcony and then turned to enter the training room.
