Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead

Chapter 145 - 144: The Rising Danger

"So true." Flora agrees with her. "You went ahead and created that dreadful plan just to win the Grand duke. The result; not being loved by your husband and being hated by your own brother."

"Truly, I pity you, Lady Eleanore." Adena adds.

Eleanore rolls her eyes in disgust. Most of the things these two bullies had said were true but the part about her trying to win Caelestis over and failing at that is complete trash. If she had a choice she would run away from him. He is no less than a psychopathic monster.

"Lady Adena." Eleanore leans back, as she tilts her head. "I do not need your pity. Keep it to yourself, okay?" She smiles and then takes a sip of her wine.

Adena gets angry at that and then calms down again. "Lady Eleanore, don’t forget I am your husband’s beloved cousin."

"Thank you for informing me. I am afraid I have forgotten."

The table turned quiet after that, consumed in the tension between Adena and Eleanore. The eyes on the table shift from one person on one side of the table to the other sitting on another side of the table. Both of them were glaring at each other and there seemed to be no end to that.

It soon ended, when a maid appeared out of nowhere and spilled a glass of wine over Eleanore’s beautiful peach gown. Immediately, she snapped out of her seat and was ready to yell at that maid but seeing her silver like a homeless puppy, made her anger vanish.

"I’m sorry, grand duchess." The maid kneels to the ground ready to slap her head on the floor, and attracts everyone’s attention but Eleanore stops her.

"It’s fine. You can leave." She waved her hand asking her to quickly run away.

Adena also got out of her seat and rushed to Eleanore. Just getting a sneak-peek of her face was enough to tell Eleanore that it was all done by none other than her. She turned to Flora and she looked just as shocked as any lady on that huge rectangular table.

Seeing that she had no idea what was going on, made Eleanore feel peace. At least Flora was not included in any of this and anything that will be happening to her next.

"I apologise on behalf of my maid." Adena suddenly starts acting considerate. "Would you like some change of clothes?" She asks, and Eleanore suspiciously looks at her.

She knew there was something she must be planning and maybe it would just be something that would insult Eleanore in other ways. However, she was curious to know the lengths at which she would stoop herself to get back at her.

"I think the grand duchess can just use the powder room instead." Stella gets out of her chair and walks up to her, but Eleanore stops her.

"It’s fine. A change of dress would be better, right dear cousin?" She turns to Adena with a smile telling her that she knows everything.

Adena gulps, as she releases a smile and guides Eleanore through a way from where no one could see her. What is she trying to do?

"Are you taking me to your room?" She asks, just to bug her.

"Of course, where else could you find a dress, Grand Duchess." She stressed on the title, she had finally uttered after Eleanore had corrected her almost a thousand times.

They were still on the first floor, there was no certainty that this room, whose door she had opened for Eleanore belonged to Adena.

Adena entered the room first and then Eleanore followed. The room looked pretty good, there was no problem here and most of all nothing dangerous was kept in the room. Which clears her suspicion of Adena trying to murder her.

"I forgot to bring the maid to help you." Adena says, as she steps out of the room and calls out for one of her maids. "Carrots." She shouted.

Honestly, Eleanore was sceptical whether that name even truly belonged to any maid at all. While she was lost in those humorous thoughts, the door of the room went shut tightly.

Eleanore was shaken by its thud voice. She didn’t see Adena close it even once. Her eyes were fixed on her all the time, then how did the door fall shut?

She quickly rushed to the door and tried to push it open, but it seemed locked. She was a bit scared at first but then that turned into absolute humour. Those people truly locked her up here and thought that was enough to scare her.

"Lady Adena, you are hilarious. How long are you going to keep me here? Huh?!" She laughs.

As if something in that room wanted to respond to her laughter, the window doors of the balcony also fell shut with a loud noise, scaring the hell out of Eleanore.

It no longer felt funny and nonsense to her. She slowly walked in the middle of the room, where she noticed some black smoke escaping from under the huge bed in her right. She bent over and picked up the bedsheet, shielding whatever was inside.

There was nothing in there, just slight black smoke coming out of a red circle drawn on the floor, with unrecognisable patterns carved over it. She tried to read those words, but nothing made sense.

"Don’t worry, Grand Duchess. After you disappear, I will take good care of the grand duke." She heard Adena’s voice, followed by her joyous laughter.

Her words had sent chills down Eleanore’s spine and when she turned back to that strange circle under the bed, the smoke had thickened and it had started out of it, forming a figure of a human.

Eleanore fell back, stunned by it.

The system window popped up in front of her. However, Stella was not even in any trouble yet, so why did this window pop up out of nowhere?

||Black Magic Detected||

’Does black Magic even exist in this world?’ She wondered as the room started to turn cold and she could feel it freezing her feet, while the smoke continued to rise above her.
