Chapter 87: Chapter 44: A Great Acting Competition, Shion’s Final Move! (Part 1)

A bizarre silence fell over the great hall.

The strongest group of warriors in the Saint universe was gathered here, yet not a single one dared to rashly attack Alex!

Fine beads of sweat seeped from the foreheads of the three Gold Saints Shion had called forward.

If Alex had been stripped of his Gold Cloth, they might have had a chance to defeat him.

But the majestic Cosmo currently erupting from Alex—blazing like a vast, limitless sun—was a power they had never experienced before.

It was as if an ancient ice dragon had materialized before their eyes, its bloody maw wide open, ready to unleash a breath of absolute frost that would instantly flash-freeze any Gold Saint foolish enough to attack.

For the three of them to take down Alex, they would have no choice but to use the Athena Exclamation!

The Athena Exclamation, also known as A.E., was a forbidden technique where three Gold Saints concentrated their ultimate Cosmos into a single point. Its destructive power was said to rival the Big Bang itself.

Moreover, Athena had strictly forbidden the use of this technique since the Age of Myth. Anyone who dared to use it would be immediately stripped of their title as a Saint.

To put it into perspective, Alex’s current behavior was akin to a veteran employee expressing dissatisfaction with corporate restructuring and having a brief argument with the general manager.

If the three of them—mere subordinates in this analogy—used the Athena Exclamation against Alex...

...it would be like using illegal weapons, such as machetes and switchblades, to brutally assault a colleague over a minor internal dispute simply because the general manager ordered them to. They would inevitably face severe disciplinary action, including termination.

It was highly likely they would even end up throwing themselves into prison. The cost vastly outweighed the benefits!

However, without the Athena Exclamation, they truly were no match for Alex!

The resentful gazes of the three men simultaneously drifted toward Camus.

What happened to stripping his Cloth?

Taurus Aldebaran might have appeared to be a hulking brute, but in reality, he possessed the most meticulous mind among the three of them.

He knew that since the Pope had specifically called them forward, it would be unjustifiable if they didn’t at least launch a single attack.

However, engaging in a life-or-death struggle was completely unnecessary. After all, Alex hadn’t committed treason against the Sanctuary or the Goddess; he merely refused to take the Pope’s seat.

From Aldebaran’s perspective, if Alex didn’t want the job, they could just find someone else to do it.

Among the ten Gold Saints present in the hall, with the exception of Alex and Shaka, the rest of them probably all wanted to be Pope, right?

If all else failed, wasn’t Camus standing right there?

He couldn’t be the Aquarius Gold Saint, but giving him the Pope’s throne would surely leave him extremely satisfied.

The only viable plan now was for him to set the tone and lead by example.

He had to put on a sufficient display to give the Pope an explanation without damaging the camaraderie between colleagues, allowing himself a graceful way out.

Aiolia and Milo were hot-blooded, simple-minded fools who lacked restraint when they fought. If they genuinely enraged Alex, he feared the three of them wouldn’t be walking out of here on their own two feet today.

Shouldering such a heavy burden, Aldebaran felt a profound sense of responsibility. He took two steps forward and said in a low voice,

"Pardon the offense, Alex. Take this attack!"

Aldebaran discreetly winked at Alex, then ignited his Cosmo. The phantom image of a majestic golden bull materialized behind him. He abruptly spread his hands wide, shooting boundless golden light from his ten fingers as he roared,

"Great Horn!"

Alex instantly saw through Aldebaran’s intentions. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly, and he chose not to counterattack.

A transparent wall of ice materialized out of thin air between the two men.

Under the fierce bombardment of Aldebaran’s Cosmo, the ice wall collapsed with a loud crash, shattering into pieces across the floor...

"So strong!"

Aldebaran exclaimed in feigned awe. He wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead and deliberately raised his voice, shooting a pointed look at Aiolia.

"It’s your turn, Aiolia!"

Aiolia’s eyes widened abruptly as he instantly understood the assignment.
