Chapter 118: Chapter 59: The Fall of a Gold Saint, Ikki vs. Shaka! (Part 2)
Blood sprayed from Hyoga’s mouth as he landed headfirst, hitting the ground with a heavy thud right in front of Alex.
Aiolia retracted his fist and said coldly, "Too weak. You haven’t even learned a thousandth of your teacher’s strength."
"..."
Hyoga clenched his fists in frustration.
’Is there something seriously wrong with the heads of these Gold Saints? I’m just a Bronze Saint, why are they comparing me to the strongest Gold Saint of the current era?!’
Just as he scrambled up from the ground, he saw an incredibly familiar silhouette: his teacher, Alex.
Alex wasn’t wearing his Cloth, his long black hair fluttering in the wind.
’Did teacher see me getting beaten up and come to help me?’ A warm current surged in Hyoga’s heart. Even though his teacher was usually incredibly strict with him, when it truly mattered, he still cared.
Hyoga stammered, "T-Teacher..."
"You don’t need to help me, I can handle it..."
Alex nodded slightly.
Without the slightest intention of stopping, he continued walking deeper into the Leo Temple.
Aiolia was also quite bewildered. He paused his attack and looked at Alex, his eyes carrying a questioning look. Although Aiolia didn’t speak, his meaning was crystal clear:
What are you doing here? This is your student. Am I supposed to beat him or let him go?
After the incident with Aiolos in the Pope’s Chamber, Aiolia now only trusted Alex. If the one storming the temple hadn’t been Alex’s student, Hyoga, he would have already blasted him to dust with his Lightning Plasma.
Alex’s expression remained indifferent.
"Carry on. Fight however you were going to fight. I’m just passing through."
With that, Alex simply walked away, vanishing from their sight.
Hyoga’s mouth fell open, his body trembling slightly.
The originally deadly, suffocating atmosphere in the Leo Temple instantly vanished without a trace.
Aiolia and Hyoga stared at each other, suddenly unsure of how to face their opponent in this moment!
...
The dome of the Virgo Temple was adorned with star-like golden points of light. Twelve statues of Buddha stood along the walls, their palms holding glazed lamps that never extinguished. The flames burned quietly in the windless hall, casting a warm golden glow over the lotus dais in the center.
Shaka sat cross-legged in mid-air, his long blonde hair cascading down his shoulders like a waterfall. His eyes were lightly closed, and the vermilion mark between his brows faintly flickered within the Buddha’s light.
With a gentle wave of his hand, he summoned a bloodstained Buddhist rosary back from the void.
That man who called himself Ikki had ultimately been defeated by his Six Paths of Transmigration, never to return.
Shaka gazed into the void, where a gigantic Buddha reaching the sky was quietly looking down at him with a smile.
"World-Honored One, what joy is there in life, and what sorrow is there in death? What must I do to transcend this endless sea of suffering in reincarnation?"
The Buddha pinched his fingers together, smiling but remaining silent.
Shaka sighed and re-entered his meditative state. Beneath him, a golden lotus quietly bloomed.
Suddenly, a raging inferno erupted within the Virgo Temple!
The Phoenix Bronze Cloth was still stained with the dust of another dimension as Ikki’s figure was reborn within the flames.
He raised his head, his eyes brimming with an indomitable fighting spirit. Though blood stained the corners of his mouth, it carried a power of absolute resolve.
"Shaka! Step aside! I have to go save Miss Saori!"
Ikki’s voice carried a hint of hoarseness. In the Six Paths of Transmigration just now, he had endured being burned by hellfire in the Hell Realm, tasted absolute starvation and thirst in the Hungry Ghost Realm, been torn apart by wild beasts in the Animal Realm, experienced endless slaughter in the Asura Realm, felt the pain of separation and death in the Human Realm, and witnessed eternal loneliness in the Heavenly Realm.
It was an agony he never wanted to experience a second time.
But for Saori, and for his comrades, he did not retreat in the slightest. Ikki clenched his fists. The feathers of the Phoenix Cloth on his back flickered with a dark red glow amidst the raging flames.
His Cosmo surged wildly within his body, the scorching heat almost melting the glazed floor tiles beneath his feet!
"Ikki. If you wish to pass through here, you must kill me first."
Shaka remained expressionless, his eyes still closed. He had long since seen his own future; dying now or dying later made little difference to him!
