Chapter 114: Chapter 57: The Shirtless, Blind God of War; Deathmask (Part 2)
Even though Alex had already left the Gemini Temple, he couldn’t help but marvel at it.
That kid Shiryu truly lived up to being an absolute masochist. Stripping off his clothes and mutilating himself actually managed to boost his combat power.
Having lost his eyes, Shiryu could no longer see the illusions laid down by Saga. Relying on his ability to locate objects by sound, he groped along the cold walls of the temple. Pulling Hyoga by the hand, they walked out of the spatially distorted Gemini Temple step by step.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Shun and Ikki were completely lost within Saga’s Another Dimension. Only Shun’s Nebula Chain was still faintly trembling, relying on its super-sensory abilities to search for an exit as the two desperately sought a glimmer of hope for survival in the endless darkness.
...
Alex pressed forward and soon stepped into the domain of Cancer.
The moment he stepped into the palace, a decaying, depraved aura assaulted his face, causing him to involuntarily furrow his brows.
The walls of the Cancer Temple were covered in dark green patterns that resembled coagulated blood. Tiny black particles floated in the air, looking like the remnant souls of the undead.
Deathmask, clad in the Cancer Gold Cloth, leaned against the cold wall. His golden armor was stained with specks of dark red.
The instant he saw Alex, a flash of surprise crossed his eyes, quickly replaced by a sinister gloom.
"How could it be you, Alex?"
Alex gave a cold snort, not bothering to answer his question.
As soon as he entered the Cancer Temple, Alex sensed that Deathmask’s Cosmo was brimming with a depraved, corrupt aura! Beneath the floor of the temple, it felt as though countless undead were letting out low, mournful wails.
If nothing else, among the Saints who had betrayed Athena, Deathmask was undoubtedly one of them.
However, Deathmask’s betrayal was entirely different from the severing of destiny’s bonds that Alex and Saga pursued. He was purely malicious in nature—so evil that even the Cancer Gold Cloth might eventually abandon him.
The Pope from two generations ago, Sage, was also a Cancer Gold Saint. What incredible strength and integrity he had, suppressing the era for 200 years... Yet, by the time it came to Deathmask, the title had become so despicable and shameless.
Alex didn’t even want to waste his breath on him.
Sensing that Shiryu and Hyoga had broken out of the Gemini Temple, he decided that Deathmask should be left for Shiryu to deal with. Treating Deathmask as if he were nothing but thin air, Alex walked straight toward the exit of the Cancer Temple.
Seeing this, Deathmask could no longer hold back his temper...
The ground beneath Alex’s feet suddenly began to distort. Agonized human faces surfaced from beneath the floor tiles. These faces seemed corporeal, tightly coiling around Alex’s ankles. Whenever his shoes stepped on them, heart-wrenching screams echoed out.
At the same time, numerous faces emerged from the walls. Their expressions varied: some wailed and convulsed, some wept in sorrow, while others were filled with rage and resentment. The densely packed negative emotions threatened to completely engulf the Cancer Temple.
Alex raised an eyebrow and stopped, looking at Deathmask with a hint of disdain.
"What? You think you can stop me with these petty tricks?"
A flash of fear crossed Deathmask’s eyes, only to be replaced by a deeper resentment and perverse excitement. He remembered the promise that the woman in black had made to him.
"I will open up the power of the Underworld for you, connecting Yomotsu Hirasaka directly to it. Within the domain of the Cancer Temple, you shall be the Lord of the Underworld. No one can defy the power of death!"
Deathmask clenched his fists, black and yellow light beginning to gather at his fingertips. That was the power of the Sekishiki Meikai Ha (Underworld Waves)—the rule-bending power to manipulate souls, unique to the Cancer constellation!
In the past, his Sekishiki Meikai Ha could never even land a hit on Alex. But now, with Alex entangled by the endless vengeful spirits of the Cancer Temple, his speed was drastically reduced. This was his home turf!
As long as his Sekishiki Meikai Ha struck Alex, he was confident he could send him straight to Yomotsu Hirasaka.
