Chapter 913: Scourge of Society
Chapter 913: Chapter 913: Scourge of Society
Everyone is afraid of losing too much money, but Yang Cheng is actively increasing the amount.
All around, there was chatter and shaking of heads, with people feeling sorry, thinking that the young man was a fool. It was such a pity.
The middle-aged man was stunned for a moment, then his eyes lit up, thinking he had met an idiot. He quickly changed his tune, "Fifty thousand! Give me fifty thousand, and we’ll forget the whole thing!"
"You’re quick to take advantage, but I’m not giving you a penny!"
Yang Cheng’s smile was mocking.
"Dammit! Then what were you saying earlier, trying to mess with me?"
The middle-aged man roared, looking fierce and menacing.
"Yeah, I was messing with you. Who asked you to mess with me first, letting an old lady suddenly rush out to fake an accident, and then you two jump in to extort money? It’s not your first time doing this, right?"
Yang Cheng spoke as his expression gradually turned cold.
Facing his icy gaze, the middle-aged man couldn’t help but tremble, gritting his teeth, "Bullshit! You just hit someone and don’t want to take responsibility. Do you believe I’ll call the police?"
Yang Cheng crossed his arms, unhurried, "Just as well. My car has a dashboard camera, it captured everything clearly. Who hit whom will be evident."
The middle-aged man’s face changed instantly, holding his phone mid-air, not sure whether to lower it or keep holding it.
The crowd began to whisper.
"He has a dashboard camera? Then it’s hard to say whose fault it is."
"There are too many scammers nowadays, could the old lady be one of them too?"
"No way, she’s bleeding from her head. Doesn’t look fake."
Upon hearing the surrounding comments, the middle-aged woman suddenly cried out loudly, mucus and tears streaming down.
"My mother is so old, would she really joke with her life? Her head is bleeding, didn’t you see it?"
She cried while sneaking glances at Yang Cheng’s reaction.
Yang Cheng remained unmoved, speaking mildly, "The blood on her head is chicken blood; your tricks are outdated."
The middle-aged woman’s cries stopped abruptly, her face turning rigid.
The crowd burst into laughter.
"Chicken blood? Are you serious?"
"Haha, such a clumsy scam attempt."
"Let’s disperse, it’s just a scam."
The middle-aged man, ashamed and enraged, pulled out a fruit knife from his waist and charged at Yang Cheng.
"I’ll make you eat your words! Today I’m going to stab you to death!"
The crowd gasped, and several timid women screamed and retreated.
Yang Cheng’s gaze turned cold, and he raised his foot to kick.
Bang!
The middle-aged man was kicked away, landing heavily on the ground, the fruit knife slipping from his hand and clattering onto the ground.
"Ah—!"
He cried out, clutching his stomach, rolling on the ground, sweating profusely from pain.
The middle-aged woman saw this, screamed, and lunged forward, clawing at Yang Cheng’s face.
"You dare hit my husband? I’ll fight you!"
Yang Cheng was about to strike when suddenly a hand reached over and grabbed the middle-aged woman’s wrist.
Feng Jiuge, having exited the car at some point, slapped the woman with her other hand.
Slap!
The middle-aged woman was spun around twice, landing sitting on the ground, half her face swollen, blood trickling from her mouth.
"You... you dare hit me?"
She held her face, incredulous as she looked at Feng Jiuge.
"What’s wrong with hitting you? You have the right to scam people?"
Feng Jiuge sneered, her gaze sweeping over the groaning middle-aged man and the old woman pretending to be dead on the ground, her lovely eyes full of disgust.
"People like you are society’s cancer!"
"Well said!"
Someone in the crowd started clapping.
"I hate scammers the most; they spoil society’s atmosphere!"
"Arrest them! Let the police take them away!"
The middle-aged woman’s face turned pale. Her lips trembled, unable to utter a word.
Yang Cheng and Feng Jiuge exchanged a glance, smiles tugging at their lips.
"Feel good hitting them?"
Yang Cheng asked.
"Feels great, people like them deserve a beating."
Feng Jiuge shook her hand.
Just then, Yang Cheng’s phone rang. He took it out to see it was Cui Yunzhi.
"Mr. Yang, where are you? I’m sending someone to pick you up now."
Cui Yunzhi’s voice was tinged with urgency.
"On the way to the Cui Family, but ran into a little trouble, might be late."
Yang Cheng said.
"What trouble? Give me the address, I’ll come find you."
Cui Yunzhi quickly asked.
Yang Cheng provided the location.
"I’ll be right there!"
Cui Yunzhi finished speaking and hung up the phone.
At this time, seeing the situation turn unfavorable, the old woman suddenly exclaimed and got up, kneeling before Yang Cheng, starting to cry.
"Don’t call the police, please, don’t call the police. I admit we were scamming, but our family was forced into this!"
"My grandson has a serious illness, we’ve spent all our savings, and we really have no money for treatment. If we don’t scam for some money, my grandson’s life won’t be saved!"
"Young man, please don’t call the police, and you’ve hit people too, so you should compensate us a little for medical expenses."
The old woman gave a signal, and the middle-aged couple joined in crying.
Instantly, the atmosphere at the scene changed, and people who initially condemned them now felt the trio were quite pitiful.
"Sigh! Who would risk their life to scam unless they’re desperate? They’re all unfortunate souls!"
"Young man, maybe just give them some money, consider it a good deed."
Everyone’s gaze fell on Yang Cheng and Feng Jiuge, waiting for him to fork out the money.
Yang Cheng glanced around, immediately knowing the three were lying, with the sick grandson being a fabrication, the real reason for their lack of money was the man’s gambling addiction.
He remained composed and slowly said, "Everyone, see how this man is missing three fingers, clearly a gambler. Any money scammed from me wouldn’t go to the hospital, but to the gambling table."
"If you truly have a sick child, I can provide treatment; I’m a doctor myself, but I absolutely won’t give money to encourage such dishonest behavior."
"I hope you all can make rational judgments; just because someone is weak doesn’t mean they’re right, otherwise what’s the purpose of the law?"
The scene fell into a sudden silence. Yang Cheng’s words were very reasonable, and some had realized it, though some still sympathized with the old lady, blocking Yang Cheng from leaving.
In less than ten minutes, a black business car stopped by the roadside.
The car door opened, and Cui Yunfan and Cui Yunzhi quickly stepped out.
"Mr. Yang, Miss Feng, are you okay?"
Cui Yunzhi hurried to them, inspecting them thoroughly to ensure they weren’t injured, finally letting out a breath of relief.
"We’re fine, just ran into some scammers."
Yang Cheng pointed at the three on the ground.
The three raised their heads, and upon seeing Cui Yunzhi and Cui Yunfan, the couple’s faces changed instantly, then they quickly lowered their heads.
