Rich Parents Found Me After I Got a Tycoon System? Yeah, I'm Not Interested
Chapter 365: Do I Need to List Them in Detail?
The other three stopped gossiping about Yun Zijin and focused on ordering from their menus.
They had just finished ordering when there was a knock at the door.
The four of them exchanged glances. "Didn’t the waiter just leave with our order? Who could be knocking right now?"
Yun Zijin shook her head. She was certain she hadn’t invited anyone else.
"Maybe... we should open it and see?"
Besides, with Yun Zijin’s seven bodyguards around, their personal safety wasn’t a concern.
Yun Zijin rose from her seat, walked to the door of the private room, and quickly slid it open.
Ren Hui and Li Cui, who had been leaning against the door to eavesdrop, suddenly lost their balance and tumbled forward. Yun Zijin nimbly dodged to the side.
"Ren Hui! Li Cui! What are you two doing here? Were you eavesdropping at the door of our room?!"
Qin Sitong had considered countless possibilities, but she never imagined it would be Ren Hui and Li Cui.
"And why shouldn’t it be us? We invited you again and again, but you refused to come to Cui Cui’s birthday party."
"I didn’t expect to run into you here. It looks like we’re fated to meet. Why don’t you come join us at our table?"
Yun Zijin eyed the two of them suspiciously.
’Li Cui’s family background means she could never afford a meal at Qingjin Pavilion. And Ren Hui’s family went bankrupt, so with her current financial situation, there’s no way she could afford it either.’
’So... who’s backing them?’
"Li Cui, wasn’t your birthday party supposed to be yesterday? What happened, did your family win the lottery? With the prices at Qingjin Pavilion, and considering your finances, a single meal here would cost you several months of your food budget.
"Do your parents know you’re hosting a birthday party in a place this expensive?"
Yun Zijin’s sharp, clear eyes stared fixedly at the two of them, as if she could see right through all their schemes and conspiracies.
Ren Hui and Li Cui involuntarily took a step back, but they quickly composed themselves and turned back to Yun Zijin.
"It was originally yesterday, but something came up, so we rescheduled for today."
"My... My dad won the lottery, and he gave me the money especially for my birthday."
"This is my first real birthday party in years, and I want as many people as possible to be there."
"Sitong, Zijin... your friends can come along as well."
Li Cui sounded so sincere that if Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong hadn’t already known how shameless the pair could be, they might have actually believed her.
"We’ve already ordered our food, so we won’t go over and disturb you."
’I think I’ve made my refusal perfectly clear,’ Yun Zijin thought.
But Ren Hui clearly didn’t think so. She stubbornly insisted on dragging Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong to the party.
"Oh, come on, you’re already here! I’ll be really hurt if you don’t come."
Li Cui was trying to play on Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong’s sympathies.
But she was mistaken. Yun Zijin and Qin Sitong saw absolutely no point in sympathizing with her.
"If you were really sincere, you wouldn’t have rescheduled the party without even telling us."
"Could it be... that your party was always today, and you deliberately told us it was yesterday?"
"If we had shown up yesterday, we would have made the trip for nothing! We would’ve wasted our time and been completely humiliated!"
As she connected the dots, Yun Zijin felt like everything was off.
Ren Hui and Li Cui exchanged a look, and a flicker of guilt crossed their faces.
It was fleeting, but Yun Zijin caught it.
"It seems you two have really gone to great lengths to scheme against us."
Yun Zijin was smiling as she spoke, but the brighter her smile, the more it sent a chill down one’s spine.
"I just find it so weird. Ever since freshman year, you two have been inexplicably hostile towards us. Is there something wrong with you?"
’They’re probably only inviting us today because we didn’t show up yesterday. When one plan failed, they came up with another.’
’The only thing Yun Zijin didn’t understand was how those two knew they would be at Qingjin Pavilion today.’
"Zijin, you must have misunderstood. We haven’t done anything."
’At most, we’d just been a bit cold to them in the dorm, constantly finding fault.’
’We had never done anything truly malicious.’
"It’s not that you haven’t done anything. It’s just that you’ve never succeeded."
"Do I need to list them out one by one?"
Qin Sitong stood up, blocking Ren Hui’s view of Yun Zijin.
"Sitong, you’re misunderstanding us. We were being completely sincere about inviting you to Cui Cui’s birthday party today."
