Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss
Chapter 1229 - 1201: The World Is Still Beautiful
Chapter 1229: Chapter 1201: The World Is Still Beautiful
Chang Xiangsi knows that this is Qio Yu Xuan giving her one last chance; as long as she admits her mistake, he won’t be so distant. But she cannot lie.
"I would still choose this way."
This sentence once again brought the atmosphere between them to below freezing point, and Qio Yu Xuan looked at her with no expression.
"Safe travels."
Chang Xiangsi stood up, her silhouette was bleak.
Qio Yu Xuan sat silently for a moment before getting up.
The baby items he ordered today were arriving, and he also had to choose some for his Qian now. To him, all that remains is Qian.
The glories and honor of the first half of his life have exchanged for friends’ betrayal. And now, with years of patience, he has accumulated strength. He just wants to follow his heart and do what he desires.
A young girl from the adjacent table ran over, playfully fiddling with Qio Yu Xuan’s chair. He took out a candy from his pocket for her. The girl turned to see a man who had entered the cafe, and she ran over smiling, reaching out and calling crisply, "Daddy."
Qio Yu Xuan watched the man hold the girl and apologetically smile at him. He shook his head to indicate it was fine.
"Daddy, can we have cake?"
"You lost a front tooth, you little glutton!"
Their father-daughter conversation reached Qio Yu Xuan’s ears, and he smiled lightly.
Daddy is the sweetest sound in the world; he decided he’d bring a cake back for Qian as well. Even if he couldn’t hear her call him daddy, at least he could see her smile. The world is still beautiful.
...
The weather is gradually warming, and the greenery around Qian’s residential area is increasing bit by bit. Many things have happened in the past two months.
For instance, Yu Yiyang’s baby can already roll over. Every day, wearing crotchless pants, he fumbles back and forth on the bed using his one and only mobility trick. He’s quicker than most, managing to roll over proficiently before even three months. Every time Qian sees him, she’s amazed by the little one raised like a ball, moving so flexibly!
Qian wanted to take a trip south to see the son that her friend Daffodil had given birth to—that boy is Qian’s godson—and she didn’t need to ask Xiaoqiang. Her mother-in-law and her own mom took turns on the phone scolding her, saying pregnant women shouldn’t be traveling around. Qian’s plans were thwarted.
Qian truly doesn’t feel there’s anything amiss with her body; she’s now full-term at 3 months pregnant, and her body hasn’t changed at all. She can eat and sleep well, feeling exceptional and enjoying her meals without any pregnancy symptoms.
Other women experience vomiting, nausea, unease, but she hasn’t felt a smidge of it. In fact, her mood seems better than before; the only thing bothering Qian is that she feels restless with nothing to do. Her temporary last-resort jobs have ended, and her family doesn’t allow her to take up any new work outside, which feels stifling.
Her school papers are all completed, and Qio Yu Xuan has decided to visit and take care of her. For the coming years, she’ll be following Qio Yu Xuan, so she won’t need to rush her papers or scope jobs like her peers. Mr. Liu, upon finding out she’s pregnant, treated it like his own daughter’s pregnancy, pushing her out of experimentation tasks. Qian became a miscellaneous person, idling at home with a beauty in tow, nearly bored enough to count split ends.
She is just too well-nourished; how could she have split ends? Yu Minglang conspired with his mother to make a nutrition menu, monitoring her eat every day—things like wild sea cucumber, bird’s nest, plus a mishmash of other things she must consume. In three months of pregnancy, Qian has gained five pounds, and yet the pair remain dissatisfied, feeling she should be even plumper.
The home bookshelf is stuffed with comics courtesy of Yu Minglang, saying pregnant women should keep a happy mindset lest the professional books she’s been reading trouble her mind or affect fetal education. That day, Qian flipped through the Dragon Ball comics she’d read several times, feeling she couldn’t continue like this.
At home, as Qian pondered doing something, someone knocked on the door. She checked the time; everyone else should be at work, so it likely was only Qio Yu Xuan.
Sure enough, upon opening the door, there stood Qio Yu Xuan carrying a heap of goodies, smiling like a Buddha.
Qian’s nose twitched, and her joy was apparent. "Spicy duck heads?!"
"You’re such a glutton. Your nose is too incredible. Yes, spicy duck heads. I had someone make them—definitely no chili essence."
Qio Yu Xuan handed over the bag and then, with familiarity, brought the rest into the kitchen, categorizing the food he brought.
"Ah, you’re always so good to me. Xiaoqiang won’t let me eat, and I’ve been mulling over sneakily going out to eat some of this—no chance. If I do, the scent won’t escape, and he’ll nag me again."
It’s just pregnancy, yet her Xiaoqiang treats it as an enemy invasion, applying his special reconnaissance skills to her daily. Every day he returns home, sniffing back and forth like a military dog, immediately noticing if she consumes anything she isn’t supposed to.
"No problem, check this out!" Qio Yu Xuan pulled a small essential oil diffuser from the bag, laughingly saying, "After you’re done eating, we’ll pour some of this; it’ll purify the air and soothe the pregnancy. Even if he’s a work-dog, he won’t smell it."
Beautifully done!
Qian suddenly finds Qio Yu Xuan extremely pleasing; he truly understands her!
"You’re always running to me, what about work?" Qian has grown accustomed to him frequently bringing things over to please her. When Xiaoqiang travels for work, Qio Yu Xuan will come by. Though he can’t cook, he brings professional chefs to prepare meals at her home, then tidies up neatly before leaving.
"I don’t have much work lately," Qio Yu Xuan again says while lying with open eyes. Of course, Qian doesn’t believe him; people at his level have time priced in billions, busily working day after day. If he disappears for several days, it’s certain he’s been called abroad for work.
Qio Yu Xuan glanced at scattered comics on the sofa, seeing Qian nibbling duck heads resentfully, guessing the situation right.
"Bored while idle?"
"Yu Xiaoqiang is simply brain-dead. I’m merely pregnant, not a cripple, yet he’s employed so many pseudo-scientific excuses to bar me from simple work?" Qian grumbled as she mentioned this.
There were sounds from an opening door outside. Qian and Qio Yu Xuan exchanged a glance, and the duo cooperatively began tidying the table, yet with their slow pace, how could they possibly finish in time?
Yu Minglang pushed open the door, instantly detecting the scent filling the room.
"Qio, you’re spoiling my wife again with food!"
Qian rolled her eyes—why has this guy returned early?
"She should eat what she wants. By restricting her, neither she nor the baby will be happy!" Qio Yu Xuan retorted.
"Mr. Qio didn’t bring stuff from outside; he had someone make it, so it’s fine." Qian, adopting a cockroach surviving mentality, grabbed another piece and continued munching, since she’d already been caught, making no effort to hide.
Yu Minglang felt half-angry, half-amused, "You two seem to be forming a unified front, making it seem like I’m mistreating Qian."
