Repairing A Broken Home With My Patriarch System
Chapter 94: Registration
Ethan returned to the shop shortly after. Of course, he didn’t forget to buy candies for the girls, so he was welcomed with smiles.
’Think smart, not fast.’ He thought to his imaginary audience.
Being an obedient girl, Nora stopped using the iPad and rested after he got back. He smiled and patted her head.
’Such a lovely daughter. Sigh... good thing she’s recovering from all that.’
He let her rest her head on his lap, gently combing her hair with his fingers. Shifting his thoughts away from her, he thought about Lucas’s problem.
It was a common thing among businessmen. They always neglected their family in pursuit of more money. That wasn’t exactly their fault, but because they allowed themselves to be lured into giving more time to their businesses.
’Life always needs a balance. Without it, the world is will fall apart.’
Closing his eyes, his thoughts shifted to Samuel. The young man was probably still hung up on not being able to get a foothold in the Cold River District.
Given his temperament, he was bound to try something else. Ethan’s lips curved slightly.
’I want to see what you will do, Samuel.’
He already envisioned an end goal for the young man and his family. All that remained was the process.
Besides, he needed to keep his family out of it as things could get bloody.
’That aside, Nora’s school should be opening in the next two days. I should take her there to register and get her things ready.’
Nodding to himself, his thoughts slowly blurred until he fell asleep. When he finally blinked awake, it was already past noon. Nora had woken up, and she was staring at his face with curiosity in her eyes.
He yawned, then smiled at her. "Looks like I slept off, huh?"
"Maybe you’re tired," She said, then turned to pick up a comic book he had gotten for her days ago.
Ethan smiled and stood up, stretching his arms. "Maybe."
Time passed swiftly, and evening came. The family closed their shop, then went home after sending off Cassandra.
Once they got home, Evelyn volunteered to cook. Ethan didn’t refuse, merely assisting her and guiding her with little pointers. It was a lovely scene.
After that, they had dinner, watched a movie together, then went to sleep.
For the next three days, they repeated the same routine. They’d immediately head to the shop after breakfast, and Ethan would help Nora study for a few hours. Only then would he allow her to use her iPad for an hour before she switched to read comic books.
After all, all work and no play... He didn’t remember the rest of the saying. Regardless, it was a logical one. There was no news to disturb his current peace either.
Vincent had taken complete control over the assets of the Skull Gang, and he had disbanded them, ensuring they could no longer regroup.
As for the leader of the gang, he was handed over to the police and locked up in jail. The man had really committed a mistake by attacking Ethan’s reverse scale.
On Lucas’s side, there was no problem either. Just as Ethan had advised him to do, he had taken his wife to the cinema, surprising her.
After that, he took every other advice from Ethan seriously. He shifted his meetings to noon, spending more time with his wife during breakfast and dinner.
He even followed her to the shopping mall to help her choose a dress. Although the woman still gave him a cold shoulder, she no longer mentioned anything about a divorce.
It was as if she was judging him.
As for the secretary’s private life, Ethan had no idea. After all, she wasn’t like Lucas who called him everyday and reported what had happened at home.
Besides, it wasn’t exactly his business, so...
A few days passed, and he finally decided to register Nora at the school. The registration had started for a few days now, but he hadn’t gone there yet to avoid the traffic at the initial stages.
"Damn. This is still a lot," He said as he parked his bike outside the school building. Several cars and motorcycles were parked outside too, hinting that many people had arrived earlier.
Ethan had Nora get down from the bike, then followed too. He held her hand and led her towards the gate.
The guards by the gate merely glanced at them before opening the gate. Ethan and Nora entered, both looking around curiously.
Nora had never been here before, not even in her past life. Back then, she barely had the opportunity to go to school, and that was only because of Ethan’s parents and Cole had made it possible.
The scummy Ethan had tricked Evelyn into trusting him. He helped her make more profit in her shop, only to take all that money and use it to pay off his gambling debts. This was why she had distrusted him even when he was helping Evelyn this time.
Taking her mind off those thoughts, she said to her father, "This place is huge."
Ethan smiled and patted her head. "Of course, it is. It’s supposed to be one of the best schools in the country so they put a lot of effort into making this place. Don’t worry, you’ll love it."
Nora smiled, nodding her head.
They quickly joined the crowd in the reception hall, receiving a number well into the hundreds.
Ethan grimaced. ’Are we going to wait for several hours? Goddamn...’
He wasn’t the only one impatient.
A few wealthy parents who had meetings to attend and had traveled from their own city down here were starting to get irritated by the wait.
One of them, a woman wearing an office suit which accentuated her curves, walked over to one of the attendants, her heels clacking against the tiles.
"Can you attend to my son here? I need to get back to the capital before noon and sign a contract today, so I don’t want to get delayed."
The attendant glared at her coldly before answering with a professional smile.
"You can always come back tomorrow."
