Chapter 756: With a Wife Like This, What More Could a Husband Ask For?

As he carried her, Leona Grant’s hand paused on her knee, his gaze sharpening.

He stopped in his tracks and looked down.

Where his hand rested, the flesh was torn and bloody.

Annabelle Linton had left in a hurry yesterday, simply throwing on a knee-length shirt before running out.

She had accidentally fallen while running and scraped her knee. It wasn’t a very serious injury, but it looked startling against her smooth, pale skin.

The atmosphere instantly grew cold.

The tenderness in Leona Grant’s expression vanished, replaced by an intense, oppressive aura.

Frowning, he looked at her with simmering anger. “What happened?” he asked, his expression cold.

Annabelle Linton was confused by his sudden dark expression. Following his gaze, she saw the wound on her leg and understood. She nonchalantly pushed his hand away and said dismissively, “It’s just a scratch. I’m fine.”

Leona Grant looked at her, furious. He really wanted to shake some sense into her.

‘I’ve never met a woman so careless with her own well-being.’

He placed her in the passenger seat, opened the glove compartment, and took out cotton swabs, antiseptic solution, and other first-aid supplies.

He then lifted her leg, resting it across his lap, and began to carefully disinfect the wound and apply medicine.

Leona Grant’s head was slightly bowed, his back to the sunlit window. His features were cast in shadow, and his long lashes left dark silhouettes beneath his eyes. His handsome face, which normally exuded a sunny warmth, was utterly captivating.

As Annabelle Linton watched him, her thoughts suddenly turned to the virus afflicting them both.

She let out a heavy sigh. Her troubled eyes turned to the window, and she stared blankly, her gaze lost somewhere beyond the glass.

When Leona Grant looked up, he saw her face in profile. She hadn’t said a word, but he could still feel her oppressive sorrow.

Leona Grant wiped his hands with a wet wipe. “Don’t be sad,” he said in a low voice. “We’ll find a way.”

Annabelle Linton turned back to him, her gaze deep. She sighed again, her eyes downcast. “But what if there isn’t a way?” she asked, her voice full of uncertainty.

Leona Grant gave a nonchalant smile. “Medical science is incredibly advanced now. There’s almost nothing that can’t be overcome. We’ll start researching today. Trust me, we’ll definitely find a solution, okay?”

Annabelle Linton looked at his faint smile, but his words did little to improve her mood.

She knew he was just trying to comfort her.

It was true that modern medicine was advanced, and it was also true that the virus afflicting them could be cured. It was simply a matter of time.

The problem was, they didn’t have time to wait for that breakthrough.

‘Are we really going to die?’

‘After going through two lifetimes, we finally managed to be together. How could it end like this?’

At the thought, Annabelle Linton’s eyes began to redden, and tears of helplessness streamed down her face once more.

Crying isn’t a sign of weakness.

To face a problem without crying means there is still a solution to be found, still hope to fight for, still a glimmer of dawn on the horizon.

As a doctor, Annabelle Linton knew exactly how destructive the virus was.

She truly couldn’t see any hope.

She couldn’t even find a reason to lie to herself.

Watching her cry, Leona Grant’s heart was a mix of sorrow and profound emotion.

‘So this was how much she had been worrying about him.’

‘With a wife like this, what more could a husband ask for?’

Leona Grant leaned in and pressed his lips to hers.
