Chapter 726: Chapter 726: You Must Take Responsibility for Me, Full Responsibility

Seeing his dejected state, Annabelle felt a pang of pain, as if a knife were carving out her heart.

Leona Grant looked at her tear-streaked face and said, his anger laced with a hint of grievance, "I won’t divorce you. I won’t let you go."

A sour bitterness welled up inside Annabelle. Fighting back her sorrow, she wiped away her tears and pushed him away, feigning indifference. "You’re drunk."

Leona Grant wrapped his arms tightly around her, burying his face in the crook of her neck. "Annabelle Linton, I’m not getting a divorce!" he said stubbornly.

Annabelle took a deep breath to calm herself. "Get up first. I’ll go run a bath for you."

"I won’t let go!" Leona Grant lifted his head and stared at her intently, demanding, "Tell me you won’t divorce me!"

Annabelle was silent for a moment before saying in a low, hoarse voice, "Don’t be like this."

"Be like what? Annabelle Linton, you’re the one who told me you would never leave me! You said we’d be together forever, have you forgotten?"

"I don’t care what your reasons were or what you were feeling when you said that to me. But you can’t take back what you’ve said! If you want to leave me, it’ll be over my dead body!"

With that, he got off her, retrieved their two marriage certificates from the cabinet, and tore them to shreds before throwing the pieces at her.

"Go on, divorce me! I dare you! I ripped up the marriage certificates, let’s see you get a divorce now!"

Annabelle looked at him and said in frustration, "Making a scene like this is useless, Leona Grant. Didn’t you say you love me? If you love me, then let me go. Torturing each other like this isn’t good for either of us!"

"And didn’t you say you don’t love me? Since you don’t love me, why should I care about your feelings?"

"..." She didn’t know what to say.

Annabelle felt that if she kept talking, she would reveal the truth. She lay down on the bed, not even sparing him a glance. "You’re insane!"

Then she turned her back to him, presenting him with a cold shoulder.

’The truth was, she couldn’t hold back the stinging tears any longer.’

Leona Grant watched her cold demeanor, growing more and more furious. He yanked the covers off her, but the moment he did, the sight of her tear-streaked face was clearly imprinted in his eyes.

Leona Grant’s heart jolted. He cupped her face, leaving her no room to escape. "Annabelle Linton, what in the world is wrong with you?" he said.

’She wasn’t one to cry. Why has she been crying all day?’

Annabelle sensed his suspicion and decided to lean into it, bursting into tears and yelling, "Why won’t you just let me go? Isn’t a divorce better? Isn’t it better for us to go our separate ways? Why must we keep torturing each other like this?! I really, truly hate you!"

Leona Grant gritted his teeth and couldn’t stop himself from cursing. "Why should I let you go? On what grounds should I let you go? Because you’re Annabelle Linton, that’s why! Dammit, I married you fair and square, and all you do is fight with me every day!"

"I’ve slept with you, I’ve touched you, my mark is all over your body. My mind is filled with you. You’ve wrung me dry. Hell, I’ve shot so much of my seed into you! You filled my heart so completely that no one else can get in. You’ve had your way with me until I’m sullied, and now you don’t want me? How is that fair to me? Huh?!"

Annabelle: "..."

Seeing her speechless expression, Leona Grant grabbed her and said, enunciating every single word, "An-na-belle Lin-ton. You. Must. Take. Responsibility. For. Me. Full. Responsibility. Otherwise, tomorrow, I. Will. Hang. Myself. Right. In. Front. Of. You!"

Annabelle: "..."

’Where did this sudden feeling of being suffocated come from?’
