Reincarnator Returns: Second Shot
Chapter 119: Array
The laughter and the jokes ceased as soon as they watched Eren work with the Cloudless Ink.
His effortless movements betrayed the thousands of years of practice he had back in Immor?. Just from the confidence and the preciseness of his movements, they could already tell that he was an experienced Array Formation creator.
Although Eren was a cripple and couldn’t use his cultivation, he was still versed in creating R?zoň symbols from his work as a scholar.
Soon enough, the Array Formation was completed. Red aura emerged from the symbols on the ground, signifying its completeness.
"It worked..."
"He actually did it!"
"On his first try?!"
The Academic sector examinees couldn’t believe their eyes. Was creating an Array Formation really that easy? Or did Eren just make it look like so? Watching him do it made them feel like it was actually simple to create those strange symbols.
"How... how did you do that?" Delia asked Eren, completely bewildered and astonished with his work. "This is perfect. It’s spotless."
She observed the Array Formation and couldn’t help but praise his work to no end.
"Why are you in the Hunter Sector of the License Exam? Your talent in creating Array Formations cannot be overstated. You would have been one of the top prospects!
Heck, I’m betting that even if you don’t get a License Exam, top Organizations and families would want to recruit you to their side just from this alone!"
It was an eternal mystery to everybody how Eren seemed to have these talents that nobody had ever heard of, but still not being known throughout the world.
"I’ve had enough of being a scholar," Eren answered. "Nevermind me. Do you have any other questions about the Array Formations?"
Delia still had a myriad of thoughts in her mind that she wanted to say to Eren. But her hunger for improvement won out over it. With Eren himself offering to give her guidance on creating Array Formations, she knew that she had a very unique opportunity to become even better at her craft.
She didn’t know how lucky she was that she had stumbled upon this chance.
"You all listen too," Eren said to the other Scholar examinees. "This is how you properly create Array Formations."
With his teachings, Delia and her group began to create more and more Array Formations at much faster rates than they did before. Eren’s teachings were like a flashlight in a dark room. His unique and insightful words were easily able to dissect the problems within their works, before he would give them the specific solution to their problems.
He was a natural teacher. As much as they wanted to be astonished with his depth of knowledge, they were way too concentrated on his teachings to say anything else.
It didn’t take long before Delia and the others realized that Eren’s Array Formations were completely different from the ones that they were taught in school.
"Wait... you can do this?"
"I never knew that this symbol meant something much more important..."
"Wait, isn’t this kind of... modified?"
Eren had to teach them the right way to build an Array Formation. From what he could see, their knowledge was very superficial. It was as if they were just trying to copy something they saw from far away.
It might have looked like the real thing, but they completely glossed over the tiny details that would completely change the very outcome of the image.
He taught it to them the right way. And he used the methods Athan used to teach him, which was a bit more hands-on.
"Ah!"
Everytime they got a symbol wrong, they experienced the effects of R?zoň directly in their body. It was like an electric shock.
Some may think that this was cruel. But in truth, Array Formations were supposed to be taught this way. They were inherently personal. After all, they used the R?zoň of its creator in order to achieve the desired results. That wouldn’t work properly if its creator didn’t know how the Array Formation worked in the first place.
By the end of the day, they were able to create passable Array Formations all over their camp.
These may seem like simple traps to most. But Eren knew that one didn’t have to be complex in order to be effective.
And the next day, they got the chance to test out their new Array Formatinos.
Just as the campfire in their Territory turned to cinders, the entire chamber suddenly roused into action as one of their alarm Array Formations activated.
Red globules of light emerged from the darkness, illuminating most of their territory into a red hue.
Eren immediately woke up, as did the others in their group.
"We’re being attacked!" Abe said. "There!"
He pointed towards the entrance of their tunnel, where there were four people lying prone on the ground.
Red thorned roots were wrapped around their legs, preventing them from moving.
"What is this?!"
"They have Array Formations!"
"Quick! Take it out!"
Eren stood atop the tallest tree in their Territory and peered down at their invaders.
The ones on the ground were the scouting party. Behind them, there were about thirty or so more people hiding in the darkness, waiting to pounce.
Some people moved up to the scouting party, kneeling down towards the thorny vines in an attempt to destroy them.
"Looks like they’ve brought some Academic Examinees to help their invasion," Celeste said, perching towards a branch right next to him.
"They did. They knew that we have Array Formation trees here and wanted to ensure that they could disable them."
"But it looks like they were not prepared for this," Celeste said with a smile.
Beyond them, the Academic Examinees struggled to take the roots off of their scouting party.
"What is this?! These Array Formations don’t make sense!"
"How can this be... this Array Formation should be simple!"
"I can’t disable it. I’ve never seen this before!"
The all-out attack from their invaders were stopped right at the entrance.
