Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid
Chapter 600 - 461: Secret Exposed
Chapter 600: Chapter 461: Secret Exposed
Aaron Rook paused to think, and the excited flush that had appeared on his face upon learning of the Divine-level Space Fragment faded. He gazed into the distance.
"There’s no rush. If it’s just our Rook family and your Seymour family, dealing with the Cross family would indeed be difficult.
But if all the major families who came to Earth this time learn about this... wouldn’t that make things interesting?"
A flash of killing intent crossed Aaron Rook’s cunning face. Despite his white hair and beard, he showed no signs of frailty, and no one could decipher the schemes brewing in his eyes.
Jude Seymour was shocked. "Great Elder Rook, if the other families find out, how are we supposed to get a share of the Divine-level Space Fragment?
Just telling them for free... I think it’s really..."
No matter how reluctant Jude Seymour appeared, he was cut off by a cold snort from Aaron Rook.
"Hmph, shortsighted! Do you have any idea which family profited the most after that genius girl with the Divine-level space was besieged by all the major families a thousand years ago?"
"It was... the Rook family! But..."
"No ’buts’! My Rook family ancestors place extreme importance on this operation. I will send the news out first, and they will arrive on Earth at the earliest opportunity.
In this contest, my Rook family will absolutely be on the winning side."
Aaron Rook first dispatched several Nebula Level confidants from the Rook family to the garrisons of the other major families to deliver the news.
The Rook family was garrisoned at Argent Base. Between Argent and Morhaven lay Valoria City and a few small, surviving towns.
The first to be notified were in Qaymar City, located south of Argent, which was now the Pryce family’s base. After them came the Acker family in Azuregard City.
A small, mountainous region wedged between Azuregard City, Valoria City, and Morhaven served as the garrison for the Vaughn family. They were the last of all the families to receive the news.
By the time the Rook family’s messenger reached Mirefall, the city closest to Qaymar City, Aaron Rook had already returned to Aethelgard Base with Jude Seymour. Outside the base, the lingering traces of a potent Fire Element superpower’s scorching power still hung in the air, refusing to dissipate even after several days.
Aaron Rook investigated the nearby traces, his brow furrowed and his expression grim.
"Where is your grandfather, Levi Seymour?"
Jude Seymour answered with some uncertainty, "He should be inside the base, right? Elder Rook, let me take you in to find him. The Crystal Stones from the Space Fragments should all be with my grandfather."
However, when the two entered Aethelgard City and arrived at the Seymour family’s residential territory, Irene Seymour informed them that Levi Seymour had never returned after taking his men out to capture an Iron-Eating Beast.
Jude Seymour’s expression turned ugly as he recalled the leopard that had suddenly lost control that day.
"Elder Rook, there’s a question I have, though I’m not sure if I should ask."
"Speak," said Aaron Rook, a strange feeling growing in his heart. ’It’s not impossible that Levi Seymour found the Divine-level Space Fragment and ran off to keep it for himself.’
’But from what I know, Jude is his most beloved grandson. And with Shane Seymour, the family’s most promising young prodigy, also at the base, Levi would never abandon his family to strike out on his own.’
’The only other explanation, then, is that something happened to Levi Seymour.’
"The day I came to find you, Great Elder, the Mutated Beast my grandfather gave me suddenly lost control and attacked me. That Evolved Beast has a spiritual imprint placed on it by my grandfather, Levi Seymour, and is under his control. Under what circumstances would a Mutated Beast do something like that?"
Aaron Rook’s expression turned grim as he looked at Jude and Irene Seymour. "My boy, your grandfather, Levi Seymour... may have already met with disaster."
Aaron Rook’s brow tightened. ’If Levi Seymour is dead, who killed him? A War God Level expert isn’t someone who can be killed so easily.’
’Not even Lex Cross could do it! Unless... Lex Cross broke through as well?’
’If Lex Cross has broken through to the War God Level, that’s a different story. He was already invincible among those at the Cosmic Level. If he’s reached the War God Level, he’ll be utterly unstoppable.’
At this thought, Aaron Rook suddenly grew agitated. "Here’s the plan, Jude Seymour. You are to garrison Aethelgard Base and await my notice.
Once I’ve gathered the other families, I will return here to rendezvous with you."
Jude Seymour nodded, then quickly asked, "What about my grandfather?"
"If your grandfather isn’t dead, he’s surely recuperating somewhere nearby. There’s no need to be overly anxious. And if he is dead... with your current strength, do you think you can defeat the people from the Cross family?"
"Could it have been someone from another family? Or another War God Level expert who killed my grandfather to seize the Divine-level Space Fragment?"
"The Cross family is focused on battle, but they have always been mavericks. If you don’t provoke them, they will never go out of their way to stir up trouble. Even in a contest for a Divine-level Space Fragment, the Cross family has always fought openly and honorably. They would never resort to sneak attacks."
