Reborn with a Space: Hoarding Food and Raising My Kid
Chapter 598 - 460: Trading a Little Cub for Bamboo Shoots
Chapter 598: Chapter 460: Trading a Little Cub for Bamboo Shoots
Flora Bloom suddenly realized that these bamboo shoots might be the raw materials Levi Seymour had collected to lure and trap the Iron-Eating Beast.
Moreover, they had been to this bamboo forest before. There were new shoots under the ground, but it would be a long time before they grew into edible bamboo shoots.
The Iron-Eating Beast probably hadn’t found food in a very long time and was starving, which explained why it was wolfing everything down now.
And the way it had tossed its cub to her made Flora Bloom wonder. "Lex," she said, "do you think this thing is trying to trade its child for my bamboo shoots?"
Lex Cross nodded with a faint smile. "I’ve only ever heard that the intelligence of an Iron-Eating Beast rivals a human’s and that they are quite cunning. It seems the rumors are true. You should take them into your space.
No matter how powerful they are, the wild plants can’t possibly grow fast enough to keep up with their appetite.
It’ll be different in your space, though. The cultivation speed there is dozens of times faster than in the outside world. Raising the two of them won’t be a problem."
Just as Lex Cross finished speaking, the Iron-Eating Beast, which had been gorging itself nearby, suddenly twitched its ears and stopped eating.
It suddenly turned toward Flora Bloom and sat up, almost like a person, its front paws dangling before its chest like a cat or dog begging. The sight was endearingly goofy.
Flora Bloom and Lex Cross were each less than half the beast’s height. If not for the way its mouth hung open with its tongue lolling out like a dog’s, the sheer presence of such a massive Mutated Beast would have been overwhelming.
Its expression seemed to say, "Take me with you! Take me with you!" It looked so cute and innocent, as if its massive, intimidating body was all for show!
Since the creature was coming willingly, Flora Bloom couldn’t have been happier. She placed one hand on the huge beast’s outstretched paw and sent both the large and small Iron-Eating Beasts into her space at once.
The moment they entered the space, Flora Bloom knew from their mental connection that the Iron-Eating Beast was incredibly excited. She was thrilled because the space had an environment she loved.
An environment brimming with Spiritual Energy, a source of sweet, energy-rich water to drink, a mountainside where she could build a nest, and even an Energy Gemstone vein within the mountain that could fuel cultivation and advancement.
The only thing missing was a bit of food.
The little Iron-Eating Beast cub that Flora Bloom had taken in earlier had seemingly smelled a familiar scent in its sleep and had crawled out from beside the thatched hut. However, when it opened its eyes, saw the familiar figure of its mother, and cried out, it was completely ignored.
Because at that moment, the mother beast was frantically communicating through her mental link with Flora Bloom, insisting that there was a special grove deep within the bamboo forest. She wanted Flora Bloom to go there and dig up bamboo shoots.
She loved the bamboo shoots from there.
Flora Bloom was worried about Lex Cross’s injuries and hesitated, wondering if they should return to Morhaven Base first so he could heal. But Lex Cross simply maintained his faint smile. "I’m fine. This Iron-Eating Beast is gluttonous. If you don’t give her a stable food source, she’ll end up tearing your space apart.
Since this bamboo forest is right here, we should quickly dig some up and move it into your space as a food source for them. Given the self-sustaining ecosystem you have, the bamboo’s future growth will be immeasurable."
Flora Bloom glanced doubtfully at Lex Cross’s wound. "Are you really okay?" she asked, forcing him to drink a mouthful of spiritual water.
"I’m fine. I’m a Cosmic Level powerhouse, after all. The Cross family ancestor’s Devour superpower is War God Level. I just can’t fully recover for the time being.
However, in the coming days, I just need to slowly digest the Devour superpower’s energy from the wound and make it my own. It will actually be of great benefit to me." But he didn’t say just how long "slowly" would take. So long, in fact, that eons would pass; when she saw him again, he would be unchanged from the man he once was, while she would have already perished in flames, only to be reborn from darkness.
Following the route from the Iron-Eating Beast, Flora Bloom walked for over ten minutes along a winding, rugged, and muddy path. Bamboo forests lined their way on both sides.
Even in winter, the bamboo stood tall and straight, a verdant green like jade. As they traveled through the forest, they startled some Mutated Bamboo Vipers and bamboo rats, which Flora Bloom promptly collected into her space. She also harvested a type of large, fat grub that grew inside the bamboo segments.
The grubs were plump and white with a pair of pitch-black eyes, their bodies covered in a transparent fuzz that was slightly prickly to the touch. They turned out to be a favorite food of gyrfalcons, as well as the chickens, geese, and other creatures in her livestock pens.
Finally, they arrived at a strange-looking bamboo grove. The bamboo here wasn’t the ordinary round variety; its stalks were octagonal.
The soil was moist and easy to dig. Flora Bloom and Lex Cross quickly dug up several stalks, complete with their root systems and rhizomes, and planted them in an empty plot behind the Spatial Mountain Range.
Just then, the power Flora Bloom had borrowed from the Tree of Life began to run out. She felt the incomparably vast energy draining from her body, her physical strength fading along with it.
’I’m completely drained!?’
’If the only side effect of borrowing power from the Tree of Life is feeling completely drained afterward, then this could be my ultimate trump card against powerful enemies in the future!’
